All about Xbox Live, here.

QUOTE
Xbox Live is a realm where gaming is king. Something is always going on: you can find people to play with and talk to 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. You use a single, persistent identity-your gamertag-across all games, and you can download new stuff for your games any time you feel like it.

Xbox SupportTo create a child membership for Xbox Live, see Join Xbox Live: Child Membership.

To join Xbox Live:

  1. Make sure your Xbox 360 console is connected to Xbox Live.

      For information about connecting to Xbox Live, see Connect to Xbox Live.
  2. To simplify the process, collect the details of your www.passport.net  account before you create your Xbox Live membership. You already have a Passport Network account if you have any of the following:
          * A Hotmail account.
          * An MSN account.
          * An Xbox.com account.

      If you don't have them yet, visit Microsoft Passport Network to set one up, or you can create one from the Xbox Dashboard during this sign-up procedure.

      A Passport Network account requires a valid e-mail account, which you cannot create during sign-up. To set up a free Hotmail account, visit MSN Hotmail.
  3. Turn on your system with no disc in the tray. From the Xbox Live[b/] area of the Xbox Dashboard, select the [b]Xbox Live banner. This will open the Xbox Live area of the Xbox Guide.

      Xbox Dashboard: Join Xbox Live
  4. Select Join Xbox Live and follow the on-screen instructions.

      Here you will have the option to change your gamertag. You'll also supply information like the e-mail address and password associated with your Passport Network account, your country/region, your language, your name, and your phone number.

      Tip

      You can enter information using either a USB PC keyboard plugged into a controller port or your Xbox 360 controller and the on-screen virtual keyboard.
  5. When prompted, select your desired membership type from the list of options.

      Xbox Dashboard: Choose a membership

      Xbox Live Gold memberships are paid memberships that require you to supply valid credit-card information. For more information about Xbox Live memberships, see www.xbox.com/live.
  6. Follow the remaining steps: enter a contact address, choose an Xbox Live Gamer Zone, set your communication preferences for Xbox 360 promotions, and select a time zone and daylight-saving option.

      Then you'll be all set to dive headlong into exciting multiplayer Xbox Live play, multiplayer chat, Xbox Live Marketplace downloads, and other cool activities.

2. Buy Live Gold Renewal Card from Shop. It's region free.

QUOTE
1.This is assuming you are subscribing to Xbox Live via credit cards because of the auto renewal. (if you are using topup cards, when Gold expire it just revert back to Silver)

2.The only way of terminating Gold is call up Microsoft support of any region, regardless of your account region.

3.Do not ask your credit card company to block the Xbox Live transaction because Microsoft might blacklist your gamertag permanently.

Availability: Not available in Germany
Dash Details: Get ready to enhance your Gears of War multiplayer experience. Download the four new maps today, including: || Bullet Marsh: In this Kryll-infested swamp, an old generator still powers the area lights. A few stray bullets could easily knock out the generator, leaving players in the dark to fend for themselves against the hungry Kryll. || Garden: This overgrown and crumbling conservatory still has a working fertilization and pesticide system. This system can pose a serious health hazard to anyone who ventures into the greenhouse without first venting the air. || Process: Teams must fight for control of this subterranean Imulsion processing plant, still active despite the cessation of the Pendulum Wars. || Subway: Timgad's Central Subway Station used to serve as a central hub for commuters. Now the tunnels are crawling with Locust.

Xbox 360 Marketplace Territory Controls Strengthened
QUOTE
Some Xbox LIVE members may experience some changes when downloading Marketplace content, as we strengthen the territory controls on the service with the Spring Update coming next week.

As you may have noticed over the past few months, Xbox LIVE Marketplace has seen tremendous growth with tons of additional gaming and entertainment content, as well as a number of new partners. We are committed to providing great content to all of our users, however not all content is available for use in all countries. For example, as indicated in our Terms of Use, the movies and TV shows available on Xbox LIVE Marketplace are currently available only for use in the United States.

Some of our contracts and agreements with content partners, particularly in the area of entertainment, restrict in which countries we may make certain content available. There are a number of reasons for these restrictions, including legal rights and regulations. In addition, various countries such as Germany have regulations when it comes to what content is acceptable for distribution to their residents. As a digital distributor of content, we are responsible and accountable to comply with those government regulations and the licensing agreements we have with our partners. As a general policy we try to get global rights to content, but in some cases, it's not possible because of legal restrictions. In other instances, we have to get legal rights on a country-by-country basis, which unfortunately results with us having content on the service that has to be filtered based on geographical location.

So what does this mean to you? Well, if you have an account that matches the country where you are located, then you will probably notice little to no difference. However, if you have set up an account that does not match the country where you are located, you will find that these new security measures will only allow you to purchase and download content that is licensed in the country where you are located.

For example, if you are not located in the US, but have created a US Xbox LIVE account, you will not be able to download TV shows and movies that are currently available for use only in the US.

Again, for most people this will not be an issue, but we have heard that there are a few folks out there who have tried to access restricted content this way. We understand that this may be frustrating for some users, and hope they understand our responsibility, and the necessary security requirements that need to be in place in order to comply with applicable laws and honor our agreements with content providers.

If you're located in the US, and you're having any issue downloading content after applying the Spring Update, call 1-800-4MY-XBOX.

Does this means Malaysian can't download any contents from any region's marketplace anymore after the Spring Update since we technically have an account that does not match the country where we are located? blink.gif

Double Dragon Hits Live Next Week
QUOTE
Clive Kabatznik, CEO of Silverstar Holdings, let slip in a just released press release that the classic arcade brawler Double Dragon will be showing up next Wednesday on Xbox Live Arcade. While we await the official word to know for sure, as these things tend to see delays, Xbox 360 owners with a taste for kickin' ass may want to put some MS Points aside for next week.

There's some other information about the release of Speedball II: Brutal Deluxe and how awesome it's going to be and all that, but it's hard to get excited with news of Double Dragon's imminent release. I feel like elbowing something!

Hopefully the Territoritial Controls is only for movies and Tv programs not for games and add ons! cry.gif Still got outstanding points in US, Japan and Sg sites! It will be a real sad day if they implement it for all items.

I don't think Malaysia will get an official Live launch anytime soon, but these new restrictions are kinda bothersome.

That's why we need more info now, like last time we also thought we "alien" xb360 owner are screwed, but we survived. tongue.gif

So we have to wait for official announcement. Like someone pointed out, there are alot of US soldier located in Iraq etc etc who also play Xb360. (quite a large sum of Halo 2 players are in the Army!)

We are still fighting a war to get Malaysia on the international level~ We won the first battle by getting our name on http://www.mygamercard.net/, interpreting Malay/Bahasa Melayu as one of the feature language.

SO...lets fight on. cool2.gif

Sometimes I just wish that the PS3 didn't screw up so badly. Microsoft needs a little competition to wake up and not act like they are the leader (oh wait, they are currently the leader).

I think it is Hollywood's fault. If Microsoft wants to globally release Gears of War or PGR3 content all over the world they can do it with a click of a mouse. I rather have no video marketplace at all due to our slowyx, leave it to the console which wants to bring the HD movies to the living room (PS3).

I can imagine the flaming that will occur on Major Nelson's blog when this news breaks out there.

it's not access control to live, if I understand gamerscoreblog's post properly the aggressive checking of region is only for tv shows and movies. not for anything else.

proxy connections will not work cause your console's region will be checked to see if they are able to download the content.
