forumer hikaru_x have a similair problem+solution.

the problem i had was the marketplace was totally unavailable, due to some corrupted marketplace file in the hard drive. refer to my post here on how to fix that.

however, this doesn't solve the "This item is not available in your location" problem. i believe that's from the content lockdown they implemented recently. i dont think there's any workaround for this as they are blocking based on IP region (well actually u can do IP tunneling, but i dont know how and i'm not bothering it)

on my xbox (i'm using a US account btw), items that are affected by this are mostly in the video marketplace (movie, tv shows, music videos & trailers), no biggie, but i'll miss those HD+5.1 trailers sad.gif . i've managed to download "US only" releases like Aegis Wing and Ocean's 13 Theme & Picture (i find this relevant because Ocean's 13 trailer is protected & not available to us), therefore i can safely assume that this content lockdown only affect video marketplace items, not game items, themes & gamerpics.

i haven't seen this in action in other region marketplace so far. i downloaded a music video (guess which one?) from SG video marketplace last night and downloading Trusty Bell/Eternal Sonata demo from JP marketplace right now...

*edit: oops.. i can't be so sure yet, didnt try download a game demo from US marketplace yet. will try that and report back...
**edit: can't download the Blacksite demo too sad.gif

if you haven't done so, logon to billing.microsoft, com with your associated Windows Live ID and check your billing detail & history there, should give some clue on what's happening with your account.

QUOTE(XenoFr3ak @ Oct 8 2007, 07:14 PM)
I writing this bcos i really need all the help i could get. Here goes, in my apartment, the landlord is using a Dlink DSL-500T router which is connected to a Dlink DES-1008D switch and my Xbox is connected to the switch, sometimes my NAT is Open and sometimes is Moderate.

How to I make my NAT to Open ? Is the any way to do that ?. Thanks in advance.

basically u need to set a static IP for your 360, and set some port forward settings in the router setup.

I have to disconnet them cuz the DSL-500T does not not have any ports on it ... due to this, thats why its connected to the switch hub. All internet access in the apartment is connected to the switch hub. So ... what shud i do ?
*
don't need to plug-in directly to do it mah... via switch also is fine, no need to mess with ur current network layout. just key in the gateway address in your browser

I already did that also ... i keyed in the gateway address into the IE browser and Mozilla browser, both of them i got dead link. When i goto command prompt and type ipconfig, my gateway address is 192.168.1.1.
*
then i'm sorry, i'm out of suggestions sad.gif ... as far as i know, connecting through a switch doesn't block the router/modem configuration page. in fact, my modem is chained to 2 switches (the 2nd one also acts as a WiFi access point), i can access the config page from any point in my network, including WiFi.

QUOTE(hello_world @ Nov 21 2007, 04:10 PM)
as a guy who's planning to buy a 360 real soon (as in the next few days type of soon) there's a couple of things i need to understand first:

since xbox 360 didn't officially launch in malaysia, that means that we have to go be registered as singaporeans right? so... does that mean we have to create a new windows live account with the correct postcode, country, etc?
you can change the region of whatever live account you have here before signing up for a gamertag. it is also necessary to provide a valid post/zip code (and phone number too) during registration of your gamertag. i suggest signing up from the xbox itself so u would be entitled to 1 month xbox live gold. if you create your gamertag from the web, there is no free trial. and be careful what gamertag you choose & which live account u associate it with as gamertag & live account linking is not reversable and changing your gamertag requires payment.
QUOTE
and when you do have your live membership, are all the xbox live content (demos, trailers, downloads, etc) available, or does it only apply to the country you're in? if so, does the singapore xbox live content contain all the good stuff from US? is it possible to create an account as somebody from the US?
marketplace content varies from region to region, depending on local rating approval. most contents are eventually released to all regions. some content (like gears of war map pack), are IP restricted so you would have to be in the allowed country to download it. not to worry though, most (but not all) game related content are not IP restricted. Video Marketplace (TV & Movies) is currently only available to US and is IP restricted.

QUOTE
lastly, if somehow i don't have an internet connection, is there any other way to get updates? or are the updates unnecessary?
you can download major updates from the net & burn it into a disc. not necessary if you dont need the new features or fixes but it is necessary to be updated to connect to xbox live.
QUOTE
P.S: a little side question... are game demos on marketplace free?
*

yes, demos are always free smile.gif

i'm just reiterating here, most of the information is already on the first page of this thread.
