At least until next shield comes out 😅
It’s due for an upgrade

Haha.. It's long overdue for an upgrade. Nvidia made the Shield TV primarily to show off how their hardware and it's capabilities.. Bet they didn't think it reign over all and for this long. Great for owners though, as support is excellent on account of just one device to focus on.. But yeah, hopefully in a year or 2, they release the Shield 2.. As long as they don't screw it up and improve significantly from the current one, people will have no issues dropping cash for it too.

There won't be any major upgrade for next Shield codename 'mdarcy' which will still use Tegra X1 but revised version with improved cpu speed, power consumption & may also come with new Wifi 6/Bluetooth 5.0 chip but unfortunately some features will be disable at software level, maybe will be unlocked in future firmware updates.

IMO, the current Shield hardware has yet to reach it's limit and what it needed the most is solid firmware with added features & improvements especially after the kernel update they did last year which will add SMBv3 server support in next or 2nd upcoming update.

Personally, i am more interested in the new devices and accessories that Nvidia is working on under the 'Shield' brand.

juzmafia already preordered bro?
I wonder if I should wait for controller bundle, assuming there’s a refresh for that as well

I can’t believe they’re still sticking with 16gb storage for base model.

like the name suggest 'BASE MODEL'.
and there is also adoptable storage, so there is no big issue.
