In Mac City, when you send your phone in, they will ask to you acknowledge that your phone have not been opened by unauthorised third party. If they found out that your phone had been opened, they can charge you RM400. If have to agree to this before they will take your phone for repair. I'd think the battery change would be the same case.

yeap same experience from the one utama branch, regardless the issue, you need to sign a forum indicating that.... quite sure battery replacement will also need to go through the same process..

what if my pong nv opened by 3rd party.. but they still claim u have?

if you confirm you have not sent it to third party before, u can appeal...and ask for proof...normally if you have not use any third party replacements u wont get these problems...but again its hard to say coz Malaysia boleh..

i got this issue before with samseng...
screen issue cant boot, sent for repair
1 week later go back they said not part of warranty, need to pay this for repair... so i said no need repair
then they say to get back to phone, you need to pay rm50. even you dont want to repair...


apple got aa.. dont want repair but still pay them to get back the pong
that dianogsis charges... rm100 .. need to pay that?

from my experience, I only sent my phone in when my device is still under warranty coverage (within 12 months), which they will not charge for diagnosis, but they make you sign a consent form if your device has been sent to third party, they will not fix it + a hefty amount of charges - around 300-400, if not you can't take back the phone.

I think most service centers will have some kind of nominal labour charge just to run diagnostics even without repairing. Pretty normal.

If Samseng charged you, I bet Apple will also. They don't call it Apple Tax for no reasons.

Apple care / Iflix x accept 3rd party modified component / motherboard for replace battery .
