QUOTE(belfong @ Jan 4 2018, 10:31 AM) In Mac City, when you send your phone in, they will ask to you acknowledge that your phone have not been opened by unauthorised third party. If they found out that your phone had been opened, they can charge you RM400. If have to agree to this before they will take your phone for repair. I'd think the battery change would be the same case. damn just when i decided to swap my battery with 3rd party brand

QUOTE(dinozilla @ Jan 4 2018, 08:26 PM) Can we send email to Tim Cook to ask for that? His response would probably be along the lines of “Malaysia? What’s that?”

QUOTE(attw @ Jan 4 2018, 02:21 PM) I think most service centers will have some kind of nominal labour charge just to run diagnostics even without repairing. Pretty normal. I went Apple Center Sg on Tuesday to diagnose my out of warranty iP6. FOC. Turns out mobo died. I believe those APR pocket the money.

My friend made an appointment with machines. He was told that the technician will check the battery health and if it’s due for change, then they will order the parts. Which means he needs to leave the phone with them for 5-7 days. If this is the case, it is better for us to wait for Apple to release the patch (they said it’s Jan) to check battery health ourselves so we can see how severe our battery is and decide if you want to send in the beginning of the year or end of the year, when it deteriorate further.

What if they claimed they have changed but didn’t actually change. Because, you know, MALAYSIA Boleh?
Isn’t it better to wait for that tool so we can check ourselves.

I agree. This is not a warranty case, it's a paid replacement, so we can insist to have it replaced. Just the waiting time for the replacement can be an issue especially for those with no backup phones.

QUOTE(Mackiddo @ Jan 5 2018, 12:10 PM) why can't u ask for the new battery diagnosis results? can't be that difficult right? well if he can doubt their credits in replacing new battery, they could also tell you yes its affected when its actually not, and when you send in the phone, they still wont change for u..

I think not.

QUOTE(dikae @ Jan 5 2018, 01:46 PM) exactly actually the few times experience I had with AASP were quite ok... no major issue besides some hiccups here and there... I find ppl are too paranoid sometimes. Some to the extend of purposely look for fault in a piece of equipment when it is pretty negligible. Things like battery draining issue, display yellowish issue, dust in lens among others. Equipment tends to have some acceptable fault tolerance.
