I think it is better to wait till Jan 2018 when Apple came out with the patch in iOS 11 which will give you better information about your battery performance. If the iPhone then tells you the battery needs replacement, show it to Machines/Mac City and insist to be replaced using the official program $129. They will have nothing to argue back.

Have anyone changed battery in these authorized service center? I hope we don't have to leave the phone with them for a few days. Do they do it on-the-spot? I'd hate to lose access to the phone and have to do a backup/install...

I think if you phone, after the battery info update in Jan, is not showing any problem, they will not replace for you.

QUOTE(Meggido @ Jan 1 2018, 12:28 PM) You're gonna have to leave your phone there for a few days. Our AASP is not as efficient as the Apple Stores in other countries. I wonder if it is better to wait for a chance to be in Singapore or any country that have Apple Store, then walk in and get it changed there. Does our iPhone (from telco such as maxis) qualify for international service?

QUOTE(rayz2003 @ Jan 1 2018, 07:58 PM) i have checked with mac city service center in 1u today... they claim that the replacement program haven't start. most likely will start next week. and we need to leave the watch there 5-7 working days for the battery replacement. 7 days! That sucks. Better to change in SG.

If it's going to take 5-7 days, I think I will wait till June. I don't have spare phone and cannot wait for a few days.

In Mac City, when you send your phone in, they will ask to you acknowledge that your phone have not been opened by unauthorised third party. If they found out that your phone had been opened, they can charge you RM400. If have to agree to this before they will take your phone for repair. I'd think the battery change would be the same case.

My friend made an appointment with machines. He was told that the technician will check the battery health and if it’s due for change, then they will order the parts. Which means he needs to leave the phone with them for 5-7 days. If this is the case, it is better for us to wait for Apple to release the patch (they said it’s Jan) to check battery health ourselves so we can see how severe our battery is and decide if you want to send in the beginning of the year or end of the year, when it deteriorate further.

What if they claimed they have changed but didn’t actually change. Because, you know, MALAYSIA Boleh?
Isn’t it better to wait for that tool so we can check ourselves.

iOS 11.3 is out. My 4 year old iPhone 6 Plus is showing 88%! Pretty impressive if that is true - my battery health is really good .. but yet, how come the phone does not feel as snappy as before?

I sent my 6Plus to do battery replacement. They said that my battery is fine even though I have around 1400 charge cycle. And if the batter doesn't last whole day, it is likely to be bloated. So, they went ahead and take a look and then came back to confirm that it is bloated. Bloated battery they cannot replace the battery and so, they want to send to Apple for a 1-1 phone replacement for RM$239 (forgot exact amount). They passed the phone back for me to think if I want to do a 1-1 exchange. My phone was fine.. and I worry if I exchanged to a refurb one there will be NEW problems in the future. Sometimes, I feel these guys are just lazy! They rather not spend 3 hours to fix and suggest a replacement !

QUOTE(OKLY @ Sep 5 2018, 11:39 AM) Apple Store in Singapore offers same day battery replacement also for walk-in? I tried that and no, you can't. They have a long reservations, so unless you reserved in advance, they will not be able to change for you. You can walk in and they will tell you the next available slot to meet an engineer. Say the next slot is 1 hour later.. so you wait an hour and then you meet the engineer who will spend 40-40 minutes with you to diagnose. And if they thing you can replace the battery, they need another 3-4 hours to do so. It's cutting it close if you plan to just do it in one day.

Surprise that you don’t need to format. That should be the way, less hassle for their customers but I don’t know why the ITWorld I went insisted on formatting both my devices.
