no, they have to follow Apple... anything we can contact Apple and they will instruct Switch/Machine to follow biggrin.gif

last time i send my iPad Air for warranty, Switch not willing to help because they insist it is not a problem, end up i call Apple (the customer support from SG), the senior adviser i talked with call Switch to tell them proceed with my warranty claim

Yeah, exactly. I should edit my statement and say "Dealers do as they please, till customers call Apple directly" biggrin.gif

Rule of thumb for the expensive items from Apple.

Buy the extended warranty, you are God XD

My Macbook Pro 2015, I practically changed the entire notebook 4 months before warranty was over in 2017

Replacement came back with a charge cycle of 3. Sold it off at nearly retail price and upgraded to the 2017 macbook pro with touchbar ^^

Hahaha

Apple actually have a policy of 3 hardware repair policy. Means if your device need to replace hardware 3x they will replace with a new device. But you hardly send in a device 3x in a year (your warranty period), 3x in 2 years more like it (if you have Apple Care).

No u can't buy it outright from Apple, it's a replacement program so the deal is to send in your phone and they replace it for u...

I know a lot of confusion here with benchmarking RM 369->129 coz the fact that we haven't gotten the 369 anywhere in Msia authorised service centre...the numbers received are always 400/420/450/500...so when they say 369->129 I'm expecting the final figure would be somewhere around 150-180..gst..misc..etc yawn.gif

So can't buy battery separately and have them install later with labor charge?

Well. Simply Put. Just lie.

Told them the keys on the keyboard is a bit weird. Intermittent Issue.

Tell them the charger is funky, sometimes can charge, sometimes cant.

They dont troubleshoot anything. Apple just takes it in and replaces it. IF you have apple care biggrin.gif

I did have an issue with my screen and a dead pixel though, that they definitely had to change.

I think it is better to wait till Jan 2018 when Apple came out with the patch in iOS 11 which will give you better information about your battery performance. If the iPhone then tells you the battery needs replacement, show it to Machines/Mac City and insist to be replaced using the official program $129. They will have nothing to argue back.

Good point. Also the authorized service centres may need time to stock up the batteries.

1 phone is under warranty, later once the deal is over, it's going to be expensive again.

Have anyone changed battery in these authorized service center? I hope we don't have to leave the phone with them for a few days. Do they do it on-the-spot? I'd hate to lose access to the phone and have to do a backup/install...

The deal is under Dec 2018 . if your phone batt is not dead by then, then just change it anyways and the phone should be good for another year

They allow battery replacement even though it's under warranty and the battery isn't worn out yet?

Based on my use case with my old iPhone 5, it's 1 and a half year before a replacement is needed.

I think if you phone, after the battery info update in Jan, is not showing any problem, they will not replace for you.
