No u can't buy it outright from Apple, it's a replacement program so the deal is to send in your phone and they replace it for u...

I know a lot of confusion here with benchmarking RM 369->129 coz the fact that we haven't gotten the 369 anywhere in Msia authorised service centre...the numbers received are always 400/420/450/500...so when they say 369->129 I'm expecting the final figure would be somewhere around 150-180..gst..misc..etc yawn.gif

So can't buy battery separately and have them install later with labor charge?

You have a year. until dec 2018? Just wait until the end of the year then do it ?

1 phone is under warranty, later once the deal is over, it's going to be expensive again.

The deal is under Dec 2018 . if your phone batt is not dead by then, then just change it anyways and the phone should be good for another year

They allow battery replacement even though it's under warranty and the battery isn't worn out yet?

Based on my use case with my old iPhone 5, it's 1 and a half year before a replacement is needed.

Damn. That's a bit far. Lol. Thanks. I guess I'll try the Northpoint machine as mentioned by a fellow forumer here.
Btw, avoid Machines at the Curve if you can help it. Or you could be our guinea pig and see if they actually do a replacement instead of diagnosing your battery as "bloated"

On a similar note, I tried walking in to a machines to get the battery replacement done without an appointment...the girl at the counter told me it's only available via booking.
Not sure if related, but my three-year old 6S plus is still holding at 84%. Quite impressive by my standards.

-----------------------

So any other service centre in KL/Selangor apart from the one in Northpoint actually doing a battery replacement instead of diagnosing it as being bloated?

Went to machine @the curve to do battery replacement on my iPhone 7, never diagnosed as bloated and that time don’t have the appointment system

Just went to machines KLCC, made an appointment for battery replacement for my iPhone 8 Plus (94% health, warranty till jan)

asked apple CS before going in, was told if under warranty it will be eligible for the program, and will be free of charge.

Machines staff told me only phones out of warranty can get the RM 121 replacement, if still under warranty then they cannot replace the battery (in under 4 hours), and instead need to wait for 7 days for them to send it back to apple to replace.

at the end decided not to change it since 7 days is just too much hassle

They’ll probably change your phone With a replacement iPhone, didn’t send in my iPhone for that reason(change battery) but because of battery % fluctuating at low battery %. But at least according to machines the curve I got 3 months warranty since my iPhone warranty ends at the end of this month
