No u can't buy it outright from Apple, it's a replacement program so the deal is to send in your phone and they replace it for u...

I know a lot of confusion here with benchmarking RM 369->129 coz the fact that we haven't gotten the 369 anywhere in Msia authorised service centre...the numbers received are always 400/420/450/500...so when they say 369->129 I'm expecting the final figure would be somewhere around 150-180..gst..misc..etc yawn.gif

Its official on the Apple website. I doubt those unscrupulous dealers could get away with it.

Only if they are an unadvised consumer. Else. No dice. Im sure they have to honour it, else one phone call to apple care would be sorted.

Apple Asia Pacific call Center is located in Aus anyways, and its pretty easy to convince them to be honest.

Yea but it states that it's discounted from 369 to 129 but we never get 369 here..it's always number starts with 4xx to 500... hmm.gif

Well, put it this way.

We didnt know better. I am sure if we called up apple care and asked for service, they would have referred you in for that price ? But the dealers here, are not a Genius Bar, they will claim that they have to buy the battery from apple at RM129 and then only use it to service our phone.

This is a lie as I know people who owns apple resellers. Basically, apple gives them very little margin when it comes to the actual retail product, most of the time their profit is about rm100 to rm150 per item. So what they can do is try to make a bit more money off the services and accessories as those are not regulated by Apple, hence no control.

I went to Mac City in 1 utama to get my mac book pro 2015 fixed, gave me a lot of shit even though it was under apple care extended warranty. I told them my computer wasnt charging so well, they told me its due to the damaged charger (if you know apple mac book chargers before type c, you will know the white shielding is bullshit). Instead of replacing the charger, they told me to buy a refurbish charger for RM200

Made a call to apple care, spoke to a nice aussie lady, she authorized the replacement, and i got a new charger on that day itself. She apologized for the misunderstanding and told me that due to the fact its not a genius bar, these authorized service centers sometime tends to ignore free replacements and etc unless expressly informed by apple that apple will bear the costs.

Rule of thumb for the expensive items from Apple.

Buy the extended warranty, you are God XD

My Macbook Pro 2015, I practically changed the entire notebook 4 months before warranty was over in 2017

Replacement came back with a charge cycle of 3. Sold it off at nearly retail price and upgraded to the 2017 macbook pro with touchbar ^^

Hahaha

again, if ur device had no problem, it wouldnt count as it having been replaced right?
*
Well. Simply Put. Just lie.

Told them the keys on the keyboard is a bit weird. Intermittent Issue.

Tell them the charger is funky, sometimes can charge, sometimes cant.

They dont troubleshoot anything. Apple just takes it in and replaces it. IF you have apple care biggrin.gif

I did have an issue with my screen and a dead pixel though, that they definitely had to change.

So can't buy battery separately and have them install later with labor charge?
*
You have a year. until dec 2018? Just wait until the end of the year then do it ?

1 phone is under warranty, later once the deal is over, it's going to be expensive again.
*
The deal is under Dec 2018 . if your phone batt is not dead by then, then just change it anyways and the phone should be good for another year

I think if you phone, after the battery info update in Jan, is not showing any problem, they will not replace for you.
*
I beg to differ. If under warranty and it will be done for free, then yes, you need to show proof that the battery is damaged or showing a problem.

However, this is a paid service, they are reducing the retail price of a battery replacement from 329 to 129. Its a voluntary service which you have to pay for.

If you change under warranty, then yes, i agree, you need to show proof. But in this case, its basically, your money for a new battery. Thats it.

i DID NOT know this! rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

when it came to my iphone x, i tried to send in for warranty claim - speaker , cracking sound.

why is it that they told me they had to troubleshoot it before sending it Apple HQ?
*
Did you send in to an Apple Service Center or a telco service center ?

This process is quite common. I never got my apple products replaced 1 to 1 before. Not when I am sending it in for warranty claim.

In the case of the ip X, if it was less than 7 days old, I find it odd. Normally, they will just authorize a 1 to 1 exchange,

some forummers claimed that their phone are being hold by them for up to weeks. Know this a while ago when Apple offer free battery replacement program for iPhone 6s
*
This is pretty normal. Apple Service centers in Malaysia do not stock parts at all.

Everything is on a back order, parts get delivered from the singapore warehouse if and only if apple authorizes the repair.

As the malaysia service center are not apple owned stores, there is nothing we can do about it.

Thats why a Genius bar is solid, cause the parts and the technicians are in house.

I change my cracked ip6s plus screen in japan in under 1 hour. Dropped the phone there, went for ramen, came back and only paid RM500 for it.

Yes, very big difference between Apple Stores and our authorized service centres laugh.gif

Anyways let’s wait and see how this battery replacement program will go. I’m so curious I might even buy a used iPhone 6 to try just to get the battery replaced, ha ha biggrin.gif

Already have a 6 Plus waiting in my room to go in.

Will give you guys a step by step through the process.

I am pretty sure it will be similar with all my interactions with Mac City thus far.

Hi, Please expect 7 to 14 working days, subject to availability of stock.

After about 8 days, receive an email and phone call to come pick it up.

I recently sent my Apple Watch Series 0 due to expanded battery. Due to apple announcing that they are supporting series 0 and series 1 watches up to 3 years from purchase instead of 1.

Since they dont have anymore series 0 watches, i got a newly refurbished series 1 instead.

Good to be first adopter. lolls.

So gave u refurbished 1 instead?
Good for me to try after that, but what is the batt condition to go for it? Mine not tat bad yet I assume

What info ? Its readily google-able bro.

Series 0 and Series 1 watches warranty has been extended to 3 years due to the known issue of expanding battery smile.gif

I got it replaced for free. No charge.

Ok
How’s the expanded battery like?
Sign n symptom?
*
The screen pops off the casing . and no matter how much you try to press it back down, it wont go back down.

I.e. Battery expanded beyond the factory limits and damaged the watch & screen.

It will be quite obvious when it happens biggrin.gif
