For normal service, you don't really have to change back the RAM to the original one.But if you were to claim the under complete cover (replacement etc), then yes, you have to change back the RAM to the original one.

Anyone has pics of the S-Cable? sweat.gif

man i shudve called them to put in 1 stick 1gb ram instead of 2x512mb ram (is that possible?)...easier upgrading if only 1...now if i wanna upgrade gotta buy 2 1gbs and the old ram have to keep in a drawer for dust collecting.

S-cable?...it looks just like any ordinary pc cable IMO...i have it around somewhere, tried it last time on my tv...lazy find haha...and not to mention i dun have hd tv...so anything above 800x600 resolution...i cant read any of the text on the tv screen...just this black blur (works fine at higher resolutions for games tho (NFS and such)...just dont do ms word or anything that has tons of text on it if u wanna use above 800x600 on a non-HD tv)

I dont have Vista so im not sure of it. Eiraku will come to the rescue. Instead, i could offer my how-tos on the frontpage. U can tweak anything that applicable for both Vista and XP. If i were you, i will install 3dmark05/06 to see my rig performance. I will also ensure the laptop's health by installs all the softwares that monitor temp and usage.

*SUPERHERO MUSIC IN THE BACKGROUND* Eiraku, to the rescuuuuuuuuuuuuuuue! rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif

Well, Vista has better memory allocation algorithms then XP actually, providing you have 1.5GB RAM or more... sweat.gif The only other thing holding it back in terms of gaming is probably the crappy display drivers (as of now)... icon_rolleyes.gif

Things to get rid of? Well, personally the only thing from Dell that I kept was the Resource CD app... QuickSet, McAfee, etc. etc. all got the boot the first time I reformatted... And if you have the Dell Network Assistant crap, get rid of it too... icon_rolleyes.gif

And yeah, McAfee has gotten bloated nowadays... Do yourself a favour and and get yourself a better AV... My recommendations? Kaspersky (you can get the ori one for around RM50 in the Garage Sales section) - has the best detection rates I know of, but slows down your system by quite a bit; and NOD32 (personal choice, it's RM74 bucks for the Student Pack, a good 50% reduction from the retail price) - second only to Kaspersky, but is supremely light on the resource load... thumbup.gif

Uninstall rivatuner, and try using I8kfanGUI... Afraid Rivatuner might have issues with Vista... sweat.gif

About the new XPS M1330... Tried configuring it with similar specs to what I have, came up to RM7000 (US price converted)... Urk... shocking.gif

I was hoping for a worldwide release. Noticed that Dell went with the 8400M GS? I wonder why they opted out of using the 8400M GT..
