Anybody had any problems with their LCD display? Mine got 3 vertical red lines showing cry.gif
Originally was one red line, then give birth to another few weeks back. Now third line just came up yesterday night. unsure.gif

Normal Dell LCD problem... Get a replacement LCD, but that might prove to be somewhat a hassle, as sometimes Dell refuses to accept this as an LCD defect... Just shout at them (A LOT) if they do that, keep us posted if anything... icon_rolleyes.gif

unknowndevices,

Are you using the A/V version of M1210? If you are, have you just recently updated the webcam driver?

I face the same problem (wifi was suddenly off and wifi LED is off too) the other day after updating the webcam driver to the latest version. I managed to rectify it by removing the autostartup programs added by the Logitech installation program (using Autoruns by Sysinternals).

Hope this would help.

Cheers.

unknowndevices,

Yes, it is the "Logitech Integrated Camera" driver released on 20//3/07. So far the wifi is working fine after I stopped those Logitech programs from loading on startup.

Cheers.

unknowndevices,

whats up with ur wifi problem? I dont think the hardware malfunction as it worked for like 5 mins as u mentioned so it couldnt be anything wrong with the hardware. I could be wrong here tho. If u could specify more of ur situation probably we can detect anything wrong with ur problem. I hope wayhow22 suggestion might do the trick. Keep us posted.

this happened...when i updated my Intelpro wireless driver...as Dell update pop-up informing me the latest driver is out... nod.gif
so,i installed it...i downloaded it two times...as the first time...before i slept and leave it download by itself...meaning in the morning i would install the driver... blush.gif
but that morning when i checked...the download failed...so i ignored and thought to download it next time... sweat.gif
from that day...it seems that the wifi become a bit unstable and sometimes going on and off by itself... rclxub.gif

then,after a few days...came the BIOS update...so,i updated and thought the problem solved...but it didn't... sad.gif
the day after...i download the Intelpro wireless for the second time...and managed to installed everything... blush.gif
but again...the problems didn't solved...but it become more worse...as i mentioned...
not less than five or three minutes...the wifi disconnect and light off...but the icon(in the taskbar) showed its connected... rclxub.gif

so the problems i faced till today...i tried both wifi options(Intelpro and windows wifi),but still, both having the same problems... rclxub.gif
as Eiraku suggested to sticked with windows and Intelpro is more off and outside/third-party option to wifi worked on... blush.gif
but still nothing made the wifi works perfectly and efficiently...sad~o~sad.... sad.gif

It must be the driver then i suppose, install driver cleaner and roll-back to previous driver. That what i'll do if i were you. Uninstall the driver in safe mode too remember that.

unknowndevices,

I am using Vista. You can use Autoruns from Sysinternals to disable those programs from auto-startup. These are the program that I disabled:
i. LogitechCommunicationsManager
ii. LogitechQuickCamRibbon

Cheers.

I know its not the right thread to seek help, but now i need u guys help!

my fren need to buy a laptop under RM3000. He will be using Linux and only play Dota, Counter-Strike 1.6. I suggested him to go for Dell with ATi x1150 hypermemory, he wants Compaq's nvidia 6150 LE. I never really know the performance of these cards bcoz all i care is what i own (like ATi's x700 and these Nvidia's 7900 gss'). I also suggest not to spend all RM3000 if thats the only things he does. Might be better offl to save money for future upgrades or so.

Eiraku, any benchies or info for these? anyone? It's kinda in a hurry so im too personally look up everything and compare in details.. so might as well ask u guys who prolly have some history for kind of situation. Thanks in advance guys.

Here you go, one benchie, and a full on "what you can play on the 6150" (which may actually surprise you) article... icon_rolleyes.gif

Low End Graphics Comparison

Gaming With Intergrated Graphics: GeForce 6150
http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=3591

I'd say, if he can handle the slower multi tasking abilities of the Turion x2 (Smaller L2 Cache then even the lowest C2D), I'd say take the Compaq... icon_rolleyes.gif

Have a read through the V3000 thread before you commit though, nice looking as it is, it does have its own fair share of problems, Dell style... sweat.gif

If you're talking about me... Hush... notworthy.gif

But I don't think it really matters anyway, does it? I don't even think it's a secret, people just don't bother to ask... icon_rolleyes.gif

If you're not talking about me, I WANNA KNOW THE SECRET TOO... biggrin.gif

Whaaaat secret? What are you guys talking about? hmm.gif

Anyways, which brand of dvds RW do you guys recommend? And should I get DVD+RW or DVD-RW?

My purpose is to backup all the stuff in this laptop (pictures, music, shows) so that I can reformat the lappy in about 2 weeks time (will be my first time reformatting it, and am hoping you guys can give me a rough guide on reformatting vista smile.gif ).

I found a guide to reformatting XP on Dell laptops (teaches you how to install the MD partition) in some notebook forum but so far I haven't found any guides on Vista yet.I would like to keep/make a MD partition too if that's possible.

Thanks!
