What's the best package for internet wifi access for Japan travel for about 10 days?

Multiple users, lots of data, cheap.

Is the Digi package good?

https://new.digi.com.my/roaming/roaming-pass

Or are Japanese ones better?

Thanks

If I may offer an alternative, try Roaming Man. Locally available pocket wifi. Used it for 10days in Tokyo, 2 users, happy with it.

I'm also one of those who prefer hotels to AirBnBs. Booking hotels on sites like Expedia or Agoda can sometimes yield good discounts through on-site vouchers or credit card rebates.

Anyway I just wanted to add that during my last trip to Kyoto and Osaka, I stayed in hotels that come with cooking facilities in the room. I'm not sure if such hotels are available in Tokyo but worth a look I reckon.

Ahh, good to know. Please share the hotel name so that if I return to kyoto, I can do a quick research there biggrin.gif

There are family rooms in some hotels which could accomodate up to six people. Or you could try renting apartments (not airbnb) which could be cheaper. I find Japanesse Airbnb very pricy. The cheaper or more reasonable ones are usually taken up very early. Usually the airbnb homes would be a bit of a distance from the train/subway station and that would be a problem for those with heavy luggages ( though some hosts are kind enough to pick you up from the train station).
Heat tech is the in-thing right now. No more bulky jackets and clothing on you and in your begs taking up precious luggage space. laugh.gif

Thanks. I shall rent a apartment after. Its true price airbnb after license thinggy is like mcm hotel already

Hotel and airbnb both got good n bad d la...

If big group and money is an issue or you think just a place to sleep only then go for airbnb lo...
Can share cost ma...
Can cook breakfast (save money also)...
Can wash cloth (this 1 the best for me)...
Friend n family bonding time 2gether... Chit chat before sleep...

But most airbnb only got 1 toilet & 1 shower room so get ready to queue la... And airbnb mostly out of city but u still can get near those less known station 1 la... Like 2 or 3 station away from main station. And ya... Luggage is an issue also. Need to drag and look for the home. If you travel with elders age 60 above get ready kena ask why so far 1 oh... Kena ask this and that while you pening looking for the home.

If travel in couple or pair just go for hotel only la... Since even share the price also same like airbnb. Hotel Mostly near city and easy to locate. 24/7 services. More comfortable bed and good sleep. Daily cleaning...

Cant cook and wash cloth in my only issue if stay hotel la... I prefer eat breakfast 1st before go out as i felt if look breakfast outside kinda time wasting and i dont really like Japanese hotel breakfast. For me its too simple for me and less choice. To be far i have to say i not richfag la only stay 3 star or less punya hotel. Those highend hotel no experience yet.

i stay 4 airbnb & 8 hotels throughout my last few trip. those issue doesn't affect much on my trip la... Still enjoy travelling around japan.

Hmm you may want to allocate more time for Toyosu if you plan to have lunch there. Upon moving, the restaurants are less and area is smaller - causing extremely long queue in all restaurants. Especially when you're planning to head there on a Saturday too... my cousins saw all the queues and gave up immediately.

But honestly speaking, since implementation of the minpaku law governing AirBnB in Japan, it's no longer as cheap as it used to be. The price these days are comparable to Hotels. Sometimes when there's deal/ offer or voucher, choosing a Hotel could actually give you more value - as one of the forumer pointed out in earlier posting.

Hahahahaha even though it comes with a kitchen, i rarely find anyone actually uses the cooking facilities other than hot water and microwave. My cousins were full of tenacity and ideas about cooking before heading to Tokyo. When we were there, they gave up on the idea as they were too tired. For simple/ cheap breakfast, getting sandwiches from Family Mart or a tortilla wrap (which you can heat up in microwave) or making instant noodles (only using hot water) is usually sufficient biggrin.gif unless you have spare time to make food in the morning or evening. Imo holiday is where one escapes from cooking or chores! Then again, this boils down to preference and time.

As for washing clothes - this round i chose to pay ¥300-¥400 for a laundromat rather vs the washing machine in airbnb. The reason is simple: lack of space. The airbnb is very small and with a big group, we are already lacking the space to hang our coats and towels... thus even if i washed them at 'home', there's nowhere to hang my laundry to dry. In winter, it's also harder for your clothes to dry especially thicker clothing like jackets and jeans. End of the day, i went to a nearby laundromat, within walking distance from accommodation. In the evening after dinner, I threw my clothes in for wash and head home first. After 45min, went back to laundromat to move them into the dryer. Since the house is packed with little space to move around for 9 people, I actually preferred to lounge around the laundromat where there's chairs and vending machine. Then again, this is just my personal preference.

Btw some hotels also offer laundry facilities or can divert you to the nearest laundromat. This is usually not an issue because not all locals have a washing machine at home, and even if they do, it may not have the capacity to wash bulky items like blankets etc. Thus if you ask, the Hotel will be able to divert you to a nearby laundromat.

I've only stayed in 4-Star Hotel in Japan once during a work trip. Other than that, all my personal trips - the Hotels are 3 stars or below. Like you mentioned - it doesn't affect the travelling by large... except in AirBnB it's slower due to a big group - as there's a need for 9 people to share 1 toilet, as opposed to Hotel, with 3 people to 1 toilet.

Do you have any recommendations on where to stay at Osaka? I maybe going Osaka on ~10-20August for a competition, still haven't finalized details but based on past year the event is usually held at Nishinari Kumin Center.
