Seeing as you can't even bring small.scissors on carry ons I doubt crampons will be allowed. Why not just put them in luggage? Also, which part of Japan are you going to that will need crampons?

Yamadera, many say crampon is necessary for safety. I never buy check in luggage for aa flight, if crampon not allowed as carry on, need to decide whether to remove it from list or not. What do u think? Is yamadera worth a visit? Thx

If Volcano Eruption getting more serious or still erupting during 25 & 26. Zao Ice Monster high possible will closed.
Current Snow monster are closed due to ashes injured some skiers.

From news, more than 20,000 people cancel thier room reservation on those ski resort due to volcano ashes.

Current are Level 2 restriction. Once Reach Level 3, Entire Zao mountain will be restricted.

Reporting fr yamadera, u need crampons if u plan to go up the temple top. Steps were cover with ice, going up may not be a problem but not for going down. I end up sliding all d way down on most stairs. 2 of my friends did not went up, but it is fun anyway, me n 3 taiwanese girls helping each other to go up. N best part, its queit funny seeing other fell down😂

Ooh, was thinking of going yamadera on the way back to Tokyo from Yamagata / Zao onsen 2wks ago. Heng I changed my mind and decided to just relax in Kaminoyama Onsen instead. Don't have crampons, don't even have proper ice/snow hiking boots 🤣

Btw please share pictures leh.
