Do you have any recommendations on where to stay at Osaka? I maybe going Osaka on ~10-20August for a competition, still haven't finalized details but based on past year the event is usually held at Nishinari Kumin Center.
Is there any similar restaurant like that in Osaka?
*
Just like DM3 said, look for a place nearby. Confirm the final location of your competition first, and book your accommodation nearby - preferably somewhere that you can just walk over to the competition venue. Better to stay around/ nearby to make it easy for yourself... if there's a need to transfer train, potential factors like train delay due to accident, technical issues etc will affect you.

Suggest you come up with a rough itinerary. From there, you can decide which area to stay to give you most convenience.

Hahaha the Chinese version - I noticed the first line was a repetition for the alcohol x 3. Couldn't read the Japanese as the characters are abit too blur/ small.
But from the English version i think it's saying that customers need purchase their own drinks before bringing it into the dining hall. Also, all meals to be paid at the restaurant as probably unlike some other hotels where the meals can be billed to the room. That's probably the reason why they mentioned "please purchase before meal or bring money for meal".

No specific itinerary during the solo trip.
Already have a plan when family come.
2 days solo, then join family to go osaka.
Maybe just roam around & shopping .

found a hostel in Akihabara.
looks to have good review --> &And Hostel Kanda, akihabara
my flight arrive at 1030pm, i decided to stay at airport till morning.
as late checkin usually will have extra charge.

No specific itinerary meaning you'll only make plans once you're there? I'll presume this is not your first time there... so why not cross out places you've been before and then see what are the new places you want to explore.

End of the day there's too many Hotels/ Hostels in Japan so the best thing to do is to check the location and reviews of those who had stayed there before.

yea been to tokyo before.
and this time going with family, but i bought my tiket abit later & price difference is costing about the same as me come early+accomodation.

already have an itinerary with family for 12days.
but as i'll be coming 3 days earlier, was looking for a backpack place.

no plans for that 3 days yet.
probably go hunt for stuff at Hard Off or other place haha.
with family later might not have much time or flexibility to go.

Ahhhh so you're on for a hunt hahaha. Agree, if you bring your family along it won't be convenient because 'treasure hunt' takes time and patience. Optionally you can also drop by Shimokitazawa if you've not been there before: https://digjapan.travel/en/blog/id=11608

Find the area/town u wan to be at and find the hotel with nearest to the train/subway station, i stayed near Namba n station was just about 7 mins walk, WbF Namba hotel, got he rooms early so it was cheaper as it can go from Rm320 to 550/night for 2 single beds /king bed and its comfy n newly built

Yeap good point, will find a suitable place within walking distance. Probably will be a hostel type of accommodation.

I saw a lot of blog review mentioned that for the free pass like kamakura/enoshima, hakone, nikko. Why people always say that in order to take the train back to tokyo you need to take the last train at 5pm the latest? I check on the timetable seem like those line is actually did go back to tokyo even at a later time and 5pm is not the latest train to catch. Am i missing something here?

Main reason was avoid peak off work hour.
Either you leaving Enoshima / Kamakura before 5pm or after 8pm

Japan train air conditioning are very very weak compare to Malaysia. During peak hour, inside of train feel like sauna room.
