QUOTE(Monya Meow Meow @ Dec 20 2018, 05:49 PM) Trip duration was 10 days with the last day being wasted for our flight back. Your itinerary looks so much like a local who knows the best place in Japan from the back of your palm. Very different from the crowd. Thanks for sharIng as per someone's request! We rented a car for the whole trip and my brother stays in Tokyo so the itinerary might look a bit hardcore but it was something like: Day 01 - Arrive Narita early in the morning, straight to Nikko for the shrines etc Day 02 - Went up to Okunikko and visited Chuzenjiko, Sainoko, Senjogahara etc Day 03 - Went back down to Nikko and stopped by Kegon Falls before proceeding to Kirifuri, spent the night at Yunishigawa Onsen Day 04 - Nasushiobara & Kinugawa Onsen then back to Tokyo for the night Day 05 - Stopped by Otsuki to see Saruhashi on the way to Fuji Five Lakes, Oshino Hakkai, Fuji Sengen Jinja Shrine then Yamanakako for the Yuyake no Nagisa festival Day 06 - Mt Fuji from Chureito Pagoda then headed off to Kofu to visit Shosenkyo, finished off the night at Kawaguchiko's maple corridor for the Momiji Matsuri Festival Day 07 - Funatsu Tainai Lava tree molds before leaving Fuji Five Lakes back to Tokyo, Shibuya at night Day 08 - Shibuya/Harajuku/Shinjuku Day 09 - Asakusa & Akihabara Day 10 - Sayonara |

No worries, always happy to share my travel plans.Having a brother that has lived in Japan for the last 7 years definitely helps with the "off-the-beaten" track planning |

QUOTE(drcoolz @ Dec 20 2018, 04:15 PM) Would love to get recommendations on the railpass. Since i'll be in tokyo most of the time, i cant seems to find the railpass dedicated to tokyo only. Those that i found are intercities or doesnt cover tokyo. Been looking at klook already btw Klook have Suica IC Card. RM 82 / pax loaded with 1,500 yen. https://www.klook.com/activity/16917-suica-ic-card-tokyo/ This post has been edited by JoNkK: Dec 21 2018, 10:09 AM |

QUOTE(Sniperwolf1987 @ Dec 20 2018, 09:53 PM) not really worth...it doesn't cover keio lines and another line (can't remember its name), for that you need to purchase another pass which is more expensiveyamanote line actually quite convenient...if you don't mind some walking exercise haha |

QUOTE(Sniperwolf1987 @ Dec 20 2018, 09:53 PM) this pass is good value, if your stops are on these trains.for metro, this pass for me is a really good value. just need to plan ahead to see the stops. QUOTE(Chaud @ Dec 21 2018, 11:05 AM) first time i hear someone say tokyo metro trains mostly under JR. i thought its the other way rounds, JR seems to have the least viable stations for tokyo metro. |

I think one's experiences will depend a lot on whether one stays near a metro station or a JR station. For me most of the time I stay walking distance from a yamanote line station, so naturally many/most of my travel routes will involve a JR line, and therefore metro passes seldom make sense. But even once when I stayed next to a Tokyo metro station, I still found that the money saved on the pass was simply not worth all the planning and additional detours that I'd have to make to stick to metro lines and avoid JR ones. |

QUOTE(Sniperwolf1987 @ Dec 20 2018, 09:53 PM) yes i do.,.. tokyo subway only can be used in tokyo metro alone ( no JR line) so plan ur trip within time range.also do your own calculation because if traveling from nearby station using pasmo( normal rate touch go) will be cheaper. You also can buy the pass @ those duty free store but need to bring passport to show. I use the 2 days pass, and i continue a new 3 days pass after I return to tokyo from places that dont have tokyo metro line. Pro: Easy to use.fast and reliable. cheaper if you have plan ahead Cons: limit to tokyo metro only. cannot use to go to Odaiba/Chiba (disneyland) directly. Some line we need to walk a long distance to change line. the fun thing about having a pass is that u can use the pass to have a quick stop and the station and come out to have alook and lepak for a while before proceeding the next stop. and also I use it pinjam toilet This post has been edited by yahiko: Dec 21 2018, 02:33 PM |
