can, some JR train need buy special fast ticket only
but why? kyoto already have bus pass, cover most area in kyoto, just 500 yen per day
osaka pass is most worth,1 day 2500 yen, 2 days 3300 yen, cover all subway & attraction, example osaka castle, osaka castle cruise, Tsutenkaku Tower, Umeda Sky Building Floating Garden.

i only use ICOCA with some JR train & a bit subway only

remember buy ICOCA with Haruka, then choose special design on ICOCA

Kyoto Bus pass where can we buy this? need pre-book or just go there and buy?

As for Osaka Pass, will still be worth if only Osaka Castle? Maybe we decide to wonder around the outside. Does it include Osaka Kaiyukan?

My initial plan is just ICOCA & Haruka then just top up and travel around.

Kix - Kyoto
Kyoto - Osaka
Osaka - Kobe
Kobe -Osaka
Osaka - Kix

I will be staying around Nipponbashi area. Most likely using subway more than JR line.

Different stores might have different stocks. The biggest one is in Ginza. You might go there and check it out. If not check online to see if they still sells it.

for osaka pass, yes, it worth if you take many subway, subway one way around 200~280 yen, osaka castle cruise(1500 yen) just beside the castle, included in the pass
Osaka Kaiyukan is not under the pass, but can discount using the osaka pass

Anyone visited koyo ryokan at Kaminoyama Onsen before by any chance? Thinking of stopping by on the way back to Tokyo from Zao for day trip meal + day-use onsen.

Can't find the day use meal booking on their internet booking website and they not replying my emails though sad.gif

Icoca just a touch n go card. You can get it at Convenience store or Icoca vending Machine (AKA Top Up Machine)

Google Map in Tokyo is not very stable. It could be due to interference of GPS signal as Tokyo has a lot of skyscrapers. Encountered the same problem in HK. You just need to be able to read map well. Determine your current location and the atrraction, then see how to walk there through the map - if or when the signal is not stable.

As for English - no, they are still relatively weak at it. You cant expect the staffs working at the train station to be able to speak English - most of them dont. You can ask questions via Google Translate but you may not understand their reply. So learn few keywords that can practically show you the light.

I plan to buy the Icoco via Klook. But it doesnt come with Haruka, Hence can i buy separately? or need order them together via the form.
In order for it to work need buy together?. I read that Icoca & Haruka can be purchased via Kansai Airport. Not sure that need pre-order

Didn't encounter much problems at all when using Google Maps. But regardless, it's still better if you do your research thoroughly instead of relying on asking bypassers

You can just touch down and buy it at the airport. Pre-order online just makes it easier because you can just hand them the booking print-out with all the details already there. This cut down the communication and minimise confusion because not all the ppl at the counter speaks English.

ICOCA = Touch n GO
Haruka = KLIA Express

Benefit of ICOCA + Haruka is 1) Discount on Haruka express train fare and 2) Can choose 2 card designs (ThunderGod and Hello Kitty) which is not available elsewhere.

You can get ICOCA card separately and still buy discounted Haruka train ticket it seems. Just check out JR West website
