I don't even submerse the iphone more than 0.5 meter. I play with it around 10 minutes on the surface water.  vmad.gif  vmad.gif . It is totally can't turn on .  cry.gif

Shouldn't there be a case for warranty claim? IPx7 is supposed to protect your device against the effect of immersion between 15cm and 1m for 30 minutes. If your phone was submerged within the IPx7 depth and duration limits, it means the water sealing would have failed somewhere.

For a more accurate description, the IEC states that a 7 rating ensures ingress of water in harmful quantity shall not be possible when the enclosure is immersed in water under defined conditions of pressure and time (up to 1m of submersion) and guarantees protection for up to 30 minutes.
*
I think main issue here is the warranty wouldn't cover for any water damage related issues, they wouldn't want to know how you used it, whether is it on surface water or deep into the pool, they just wont be responsible over any water damage...

The statement is totally misleading us and it is gain our confident with the IPX7. However, there is no way for us to show that we use it within the limitation of IPx7. Let say it is a defect unit like not sealing in 100% and we cant do anythings about it as the liquid damage indicator turn to red colour in the end.

True. There isn't really a way for the owner to prove that the phone was submerged within limits. Unless they find some defects with the water seal when opening up the phone, maybe then it can still be argued.

so much different you bought from local reseller vs apple online store

bought from local reseller - when you call apple support you need to talk and explain with them only they can get approval to exchange new set with you.

bought from apple online store........ just tell them camera got dust than they will arrange replacement for you nod.gif nod.gif nod.gif

Feel so sorry for you. The IP rating should in fact be a guarantee of its performance and we should be confident in it. Any failures from utilizing the device within limits are definitely manufacturing defects. No manufacturer tests 100% of their products and no manufacturer's output is 100% perfect so there are bound to be some lemon units. 2900+ is 70% of the price of a brand new iphone x in the US and it's already considered expensive for americans in general. Yet we're paying such an amount just to replace a lemon unit.

But to open up your phone to check on the water seal, they'd have to first break the seal before your phone can be opened up. Catch22 situation.

Hi there,

My iphone x just got damaged with water and it cost me RM2940 at switch for replacement. Does anyone know can recommended me a 3rd party shop for fix it ?

(PS: Dont ever play your iphone x with water )  sad.gif

What you can do is call Apple Care. Talk to them about your issue. if they also say that you need to pay and fix, then ask them to escalate your case to higher level which means they will escalate to australia. Then when that happens, talk to them nicely and talk to them to give you a replacement for free... be nice and talk nicely... it can be done. ive done it before for cracked screen. so good luck.

Yea that's painful. When my girlfriend got her S7 Edge, she dropped it and smashed the screen in the first month itself. Cost me about 1k to have it changed. When we were on holiday recently, she dropped it and smashed the screen again. Aiiiiii.

Which is why I'm trying to get an ipx now so that I can pass her my 7 plus but digi is making my life very misrable. bangwall.gif bangwall.gif

How'd you even get them to give you a free replacement for a phone with a cracked screen? That's impressive.

Yeah, problem is as long as there is water damage, they can't verify whether or not you took the phone beyond the limits that they recommend. Which is as you mentioned, best not to submerge it at all.

yes yes! please call apple care.

like I said before, I bought IP6 plus from digi,

few weeks later, suddenly my IP6 got hairline crack. Bring the device to digi and digi straight refuse to replace said screen crack is not cover for warranty

So I call apple care and explain that my phone got hairline crack, then apple care email me official letter ask digi to replace my device.
