Hi, this is going to be a long one.
I have recently been rejected for a SC credit card (first credit card) where min. salary is 24000 annum. I make well above 60k per year and have a car loan (with only 2 late payments of one month in separate occasions). My credit report on CTOS and RAMCI is Good and Strong respectively. Tried reaching out to SC but they do not want to provide reason. Called in Ringgitplus (or one of those credit advisors) for advice and they were also weirded out. They advised me to just apply for CIMB (as that is the bank I use and where salary comes in). I did it on the day after receiving the SC rejection as they advisors told me it does not matter - only bad when you apply for so many credit cards at once. So went to CIMB bank yesterday and asked them the same thing they just ask me to apply. Since I earn above 60k they told to apply for CIMB Visa Signature. Now to my question, kinda worried as the only documents the bank staff took from me was my payslip - not IC not EPF. Do you think they are actually running my application (did not even receive an application number. Second, should I have waited for a month or so before applying for a credit card? Third, should I have opted for a "smaller" (requiring lower annual salary) credit card versus CIMB Visa Signature? Lastly, and most important question, will they be checking my CIMB saving account? That is where my salary goes in but I normally withdraw all the money out monthly and transfer it to my separate savings/checking account in Standard Chartered. Worried that they will see my bank account is less than 1k and reject me OR that they assume I don't know how to keep money. This post has been edited by McAwesome: Sep 8 2018, 03:09 PM |

QUOTE(McAwesome @ Sep 8 2018, 03:07 PM) Hi, this is going to be a long one. 1. Existing customer of CIMB. A merely payslip is sufficient as other details can be easily obtained from their system. If they need more supporting documents, the card centre staff will contact you. I have recently been rejected for a SC credit card (first credit card) where min. salary is 24000 annum. Wait or not wait doesn't really matter unless you have too much concurrent applications ongoing at several financial institutions. CCRIS will track all your applied credit facility applications for the past 12 months. Cooling period is applicable if you're applying for the same bank again after being rejected or you cancel the card. 3. If you don't want that CIMB VS, you should have clearly stated to the bank officer that you want other cards. You can give reason for better benefits from other cards. 4. Doesn't really matter. It depends if they want to check or not. Unless you opt for pledged FD CC. This post has been edited by David83: Sep 8 2018, 03:21 PM |

I don't see it mention anywhere in tnc. isnt this obvious?banks always do this "welcome/activation cashback" to offset certain fees/charges. if u read the t&c, it's for "new card" but not "new-to-bank". |

QUOTE(OldSchoolJoke @ Sep 10 2018, 09:48 AM) guys, is it normal for the statement balance to not clear when you paid it? Statement balance will not be reduced, just check out your outstanding amount. I paid twice now but not cleared. I remember it never happened to me previously. ![]() It's all this while like this. |

QUOTE(kclamtarc @ Sep 10 2018, 10:52 AM) statement balance= all outstanding up to statement date, so u pay according to this amount by due date.outstanding balance = all outstanding to date. this amount changes according to spending (+) or payment (-). it want to maximize the Cc, you spend just after statement date, so that it get statement-ed by next statement date, then you pay + 20days later (due date, assuming u pay full previous month). at most, max is about 50 days. |

QUOTE(OldSchoolJoke @ Sep 10 2018, 09:48 AM) guys, is it normal for the statement balance to not clear when you paid it? I think the brackets in Outstanding Balance means negative. If haven't pay, you see 496.17. If paid once, you see 0. If paid twice, you see (496.17). Try pay another 10 cents or $1 and that number should increase.I paid twice now but not cleared. QUOTE(kclamtarc @ Sep 10 2018, 05:00 PM) QUOTE(cybpsych @ Sep 10 2018, 05:12 PM) do take note though, cashback is not considered as payment for your previous month statement especially for cimb. |
