Hi, this is going to be a long one.
I have recently been rejected for a SC credit card (first credit card) where min. salary is 24000 annum. I make well above 60k per year and have a car loan (with only 2 late payments of one month in separate occasions). My credit report on CTOS and RAMCI is Good and Strong respectively. Tried reaching out to SC but they do not want to provide reason. Called in Ringgitplus (or one of those credit advisors) for advice and they were also weirded out. They advised me to just apply for CIMB (as that is the bank I use and where salary comes in). I did it on the day after receiving the SC rejection as they advisors told me it does not matter - only bad when you apply for so many credit cards at once. So went to CIMB bank yesterday and asked them the same thing they just ask me to apply. Since I earn above 60k they told to apply for CIMB Visa Signature.
Now to my question, kinda worried as the only documents the bank staff took from me was my payslip - not IC not EPF. Do you think they are actually running my application (did not even receive an application number.
Second, should I have waited for a month or so before applying for a credit card?
Third, should I have opted for a "smaller" (requiring lower annual salary) credit card versus CIMB Visa Signature?
Lastly, and most important question, will they be checking my CIMB saving account? That is where my salary goes in but I normally withdraw all the money out monthly and transfer it to my separate savings/checking account in Standard Chartered. Worried that they will see my bank account is less than 1k and reject me OR that they assume I don't know how to keep money.
