Looks like the Ferrari performance is much better this week... only a bit weak on corner/turn. Too bad vettel will start from 5th.

Yay, Ferrari is back to competitive force. Too bad the previous upgrade messed up their performance, else the championship race will be ongoing and tight..
*
They're loosing not so much because of performance dip but more due to mistakes, especially Seb! Even if they had this slight dip in performance or team mistakes, but if Seb did not make any of those driver errors, he would still be right up there! Just count the points:
1. Baku: overshoot braking hence Seb finished 4th but at least should've been 2nd or even won = -6
2. French: hit Bottas hence Seb finished 5th but at least he should be 2nd = - 8
3. Austria: got grid penalty due impeding other driver in qualifying hence only finished 3rd, should've been minimum 2nd = -3
4. Germany: crashed out while leading = -25 plus another -7 point swing to Lewis
5. Italy: Seb finished 4th coz spun after contact with Lewis, should've been at least 2nd = -6 (might even win coz Kimi might be ordered to let him thru later on)
6. Japan: hit Max so only finished 6th, should've been at least 3rd = -7
So thus far already lost minimum 55 points on his own plus a 7 point swing off Lewis totaling 62 points! So without all those mistakes, Seb should actually just within 5 points off Lewis! sweat.gif (not yet counting another stupid mistake with the red flag this time!). Coupled with some of the Ferrari team mistakes, he could have still been leading the points now by a small margin.

Wtf Hamilton played roller coaster is it? First corner sunk till bottom it's suppose to be game over...
Ferrari straight-line speed really like a Boss, is the extra 40hp back in this race?

Wasted my time reading reddit & I discovered the upgrades are actually hindered Ferrari performance.... the USGP spec car are reverted to Spa spec.

I'd fire both vettel & bottas in a heartbeat. Bottas was beaten by someone that started on P18.

Yea... I wonder why it took so long for them to realize that upgrades are not working.

So when the "ultimate" Ferrari performance restored, Mercedes back to panicked situation...
bad strategy... tyre cannot lasted due to overworked... team order twice etc... it's fun to see Mercedes no longer has horsepower advantage and panicking when Ferrari challenging them, haha

Well well, that's a nice race wasn't it? Aydee must be jumping up and down already! laugh.gif Anyway I'm sure everyone are happy to finally see the Iceman collected his long overdue win with a closely fought battle, a perfect drive, and finally a well executed strategy from Ferrari!

As for Seb, well again another lost opportunity to win due to his mistake. Because he impeded another driver and get grid penalty plus spun again during duel he only finished 4th and loosing another 13 potential points plus a 3 point swing off Lewis. So if he had not being doing all those mistakes, he would have been leading by 11 points now from Lewis. Anyway glad that he screwed up so Kimi finally can win. laugh.gif

Well Bottas had to play team order twice, otherwise he might have finished a bit higher. Anyway he's still the most unlucky driver of the season where he should have won at least twice but failed due to reasons not of his fault. So for performance as a whole, he's actually not too bad, actually still better than the other Finnish wing man.

Naah Merc only lost a small battle but has won the overall war so they can afford to gamble with strategy.

Yeah, true. They were thinking to do something different to Kimi to give Lewis a better shot at winning. Just didn’t work out. But anyway, means nothing much except for restoring some Ferrari pride. The inevitable will happen in Mexico, unless Lewis has a stinker of a race...which rarely happens

This time Seb did not get penalty for impeding another driver... He got penalty for speeding during red flag session which is a more serious offence.

Lewis needs to finish 7th or higher in Mexico to clinch the WDC regardless. Even if Lewis gets awful luck and DNFs the last 3 races, Seb still has to win all of the last 3 races.

I was on the flight so missed the race. Just downloaded and watched. Manly tears almost shed when he crossed the line(Kimi was indifferent about it lol). Good win(you know I never doubted him), it was all on his own, no Vettel to help him. Good for Ferarri. The look on Toto Wolff face hahaha. If Kimi wins the rest of the races and Vettel DNF Kimi could end up second.

I lol when Max asking Lewis "Did you win the championship?" . Lewis :"No..." laugh.gif I don't know if he was being sarcastic or what.

Well he should've won back in Monaco 2017 if Ferrari did not stitch him up to favor Seb. Monza he could've won too if not for Ferrari to mess up the pit timing. It's just a pity that the win came too late hence Ferrari had decided to let him go.

Toto's face, well that's just small disappointment because they have to keep the victory champagne and t-shirts under wrap for another race but nothing like disastrous disappointment.

I think Max honestly did not know.

No point talking about could've or should've now. He could've been multiple world champion in McLaren if not for reliability woes. Funny moment though that Max comment, with the camera on sumore laugh.gif laugh.gif

Can't shake the feeling that Ferrari is up to something with Sauber next year. Maybe they have Sauber as a test team for parts?

Mercedes removed their "illegal trick" aka modified wheel rim prior Austin race, fear of Ferrari protest, no wonder their car chewing tyre rubber like nobody business...
