QUOTE(6UE5T @ Oct 23 2017, 05:07 PM) Seems like Kimi himself did not feel comfortable getting handed down the position back. I think everyone was confused at the momentI think despite not popular decision, it's still the right decision to demote Max from the podium because as per the rule you cannot gain an advantage by going all 4 wheels outside of the track which unfortunately he did when he overtook Kimi. As for Max fan, yeah I don't think there's any hardcore Max fan here who is actively participating with us in the F1 thread. I like Max but I'm not a true fan of any current driver actually, just a fan of F1 in general. I also agree penalty is justified, rules are rules. It may seem selective but everything is judged case by case basis. In max's case it was clearcut and decision was swift that's why it was sensationalised. Besides it was near the finish line. QUOTE(sphiroth @ Mar 3 2018, 04:55 PM) I actually felt honda engine is not that bad. It performed nicely on dyno, just that when it bolted to the chassis, all problems came out. Might be communication break down between both party... But it is really unfair to put all the blame to honda. Me too, I read last year all was good until the engine was bolted to the chasis. Makes me wonder if McLaren would not compromise on chasis design which ultimately makes reliability issues appear. Initial testing shows the torro rosso chasis more engine friendly. |

QUOTE(6UE5T @ Mar 12 2018, 03:01 PM) Yeah Williams is apparently struggling and FI doesn't look as good as last year. Renault & Haas seem the best out of the midfield with TR pretty decent too. Haas with Kevin times using just the SS tire looks pretty promising. Yeah, I have not seen Sauber not at the bottom for a long time.QUOTE(6UE5T @ Mar 12 2018, 03:05 PM) Ferrari also achieved their best times after using hyper softs on qualifying simulation runs. Analysts said Merc has the best long run pace as shown by Bottas race simulation laps where his fastest laps were faster than Ferrari and the rest by over 1 secs! Merc did not even bother to bring the hyper softs for this test. IMO, regardless of which tyre, being fastest is a big moral boost and motivator for the teams. |

QUOTE(6UE5T @ Mar 18 2018, 04:31 PM) I actually didn't like the Schumy era. When still got Hakkinen challenging was still ok but after that was bad. Then only became good again after Alonso won. RB dominated era actually not as bad as Schumy era in terms of competition, coz at least got Alonso and Hamilton stealing a few wins here & there. To me Schumy era was the worse, coz full of cheating and controversy. I agree, I like the era before him and after him, when there were different champions every year especially the Villenueve,Hill, Hakkinen when they won and beat the cheat. |

Race is still not interesting enough but at least the gap is not that big. Kimi hounding Lewis the whole race but when Vettel Jumped ahead he kinda lost pace. Probably to save fuel/engine. Too bad for Haas. Toro Rosso showed reliability in testing but race time was disappointing. I really wanted them to beat McLaren.

Maybe he decided to be classy and just did not want to rub the salt in the wound. He doesn't have to, Lewis made himself look like a fool already for being so smug. |

QUOTE(6UE5T @ Apr 5 2018, 12:34 AM) What do you guys think of Saturday sprint race for F1? I'm all for it but they would still need to determine the sprint race grid position with qualifying on Friday. Then there's the case of engine + gearbox lifetime, should allow for more allocation per season. Sprint race as qualifying is a good idea but on full race day they should use the same settings and start with the same tyres for at least a few laps(maybe 10 laps min?) so if they are very quick in a sprint race, they may not be as quick on race day, this will give teams a headache on how to compromise the 2 races but interesting for strategy plus those who are genuinely quick will get to overtake those who aren't on race day. They can refuel on raceday prior to start so that sprint race they can turn up the fuel flow as much as they want. Sprint race grid position should be determined by aggregate of the 3 FPs. Points to be awarded for sprint race too. I would also like to see wildcard entries for a third car, give a chance to every team to get their reserve driver to race in the sprint race ie one season 12 wildcard entries, one entry for each team.http://www.planetf1.com/news/formula-1-con...for-qualifying/ Engine + gearbox allocation can stick in my opinion but rather that grid penalties for the drivers, should be some other sort of penalty for the team(maybe cash fine?,team points deducted?) because I think it's unfair to the drivers when it is not their fault that their engine expires. |

Statistically speaking, Kimi has outperformed Vettel on most sessions this year but race day luck has not been on his side.

I think he is just racing for the pay cheque, no motivation to win and accepted his no2 role in Ferrari.
