Very slim possibility to get request from MLK to KLIA, and vice versa. Seriously not worth it given time spent and profit after the commission.

**UBERbros take note on this. In order to drive in another city other than your registered city in profile, you need to create another profile for that city and using a different email account. Upload all required documents and wait for approval before you can start driving in that city.

All this promo codes really turning a lot of people into tempang.

I wonder what's the thinking behind always providing all this free rides. My only answer is that is gives a false income to jack up their revenue. And all this promo cost parked under Marketing cost.

All this promo really screws up the earning. The income is not organic anymore. All the tempang dilutes all the serious normal Uber users.

What are you guys thoughts on this ?

It needs to work 2 ways. Passengers win. Drivers also must feel like winning.
But sorry to say it is not the case for Uber drivers. Is there any added bonus for picking up many short trips? I dont think so.
With this promo on, creating more and more short trips. Passenger sure happy no need to pay FOC trip. But how about the driver? Hmm...

Just for the sake of comparison. Last Saturday, long weekends, but luckily Grab got promo code on. Pubic holidays, weekends as always will be full with part time drivers. So ping request will be "dry". However with promo, this is the recorded earning from one of the incentive driver:

Attached Image

This driver is certainly happy as well as all the passengers he picked up. So you see the difference?

With promo thingy, what makes part-time driver like me feel like winning is getting easier to score quest bonus. Sadly to say, the overall income achieved during promo period is significantly decrease. Just like today, I took a day off using replacement leave to at least hit 20+ trips but to my surprise, I beaten my own record. 44 trips in 13hrs online time. I can smell the bonus coming already.

And out of 44 trips, almost half of it was zero fare because of promo.

I encountered one clever mapren this evening. She use multi-stop from Nautica Lakesuites Condo @ South Quay to nearby 7-11. I didn't even aware is multi-stop until I reached 7-11 only knew from app. The usual "can you wait for a few minutes, no worry, I'll be quick" that kind of crap. Waited almost 10 mins, and continue the trip back to Nautica. She use CC as payment but when I check it back, it was RM2.30 (after commission). bangwall.gif ranting.gif

Deep in heart, I was consoling myself that I want the number to score quest. dry.gif

For part timers, yeah I guess the upside is can easily finish the quest.

For full timers, the quest sure to be able to hit wan, so it's not of much help.

But no choice, things we can't control.

my weekly promotion incentive has been reducing every week. from rm 190 for 54 trips to rm 105 recently (i hit the target every week). so i stopped driving uber last 2 weeks and this week the promotion incentive went back rm 190 again.

so uber will punish you if you work hard, and reward you if you drive less.  bangwall.gif

LOL...
I still receive my weekly quest e-mail from Uber.
Some of it is almost +rm8 per trip.

Fully agree 110%.
Creating unnecessary surge for the daily Uber riders.

I have always hated these kind of short trips, since the day I started driving.
All these ride-hailing promos are creating the new "tempang culture" in Malaysia.

And the only reason I can think of is to provide false statistics for their HQ (number of riders). Uber has been here for so long already, many have tried and left - so there's not much Marketing needed anyway if there is no major improvement.

Just my opinion.

ublur system sometimes pop up message that rider "pick up location updated" on the way to pick them up

press the button the gps will reset....after that ask rider after pick up in the car ,but they said never changed their pick up address in app.

the ublur rider app can auto detect the rider latest position if they move to another nearby location?

I find it quite accurate.

These are not organic income.

As a full time driver, I rather no promo code and I get normal riders everyday. No surge also it's ok.

Promo codes create a very false market. You are very busy, but getting all the short trips. Yes it creates a surge, but again, short trips so not very apparent.

What it causes is this high surge will deter the normal Uber users. So what you get is a very luck based once in a while rider who will take a high surge long trip.

This makes it very luck based, not organic .

I picked up their Marketing guys before from their office at Bukit Pantai and I told them the same.

Your marketing sucks.

I asked them about their conversion of users who only uses promo code to become regular users and they told me it's very low.

I would think a more proper promotion (being a Marketing guy myself) is every trip you take and pay more than RM5 we will give you a free trip worth RM5 up to a limit of say 10 in a week during promotion period.

The "tempang" culture is already hard wired into our society, Uber did it first, and now Grab is continuing the good work, and the "tempang" crowd will happily go where the promotion are
But who can blame them? Our streets are not design for walking, or safe from snatch thieves. Considering 500m walk = 6-8minutes (sweaty smelly colleagues in meeting room is not nice at all)

I'm a Grab driver(ex Uber), running on incentive mode, picking up RM3-6 most of the time (Grab is certainly losing money on me, as the incentive is more than Grab Commission)
How long can Grab continue paying incentives?
If Grab stop the incentives... who will service these RM3-6 rides?
