All this promo codes really turning a lot of people into tempang.

I wonder what's the thinking behind always providing all this free rides. My only answer is that is gives a false income to jack up their revenue. And all this promo cost parked under Marketing cost.

All this promo really screws up the earning. The income is not organic anymore. All the tempang dilutes all the serious normal Uber users.

What are you guys thoughts on this ?

These are not organic income.

As a full time driver, I rather no promo code and I get normal riders everyday. No surge also it's ok.

Promo codes create a very false market. You are very busy, but getting all the short trips. Yes it creates a surge, but again, short trips so not very apparent.

What it causes is this high surge will deter the normal Uber users. So what you get is a very luck based once in a while rider who will take a high surge long trip.

This makes it very luck based, not organic .

I picked up their Marketing guys before from their office at Bukit Pantai and I told them the same.

Your marketing sucks.

I asked them about their conversion of users who only uses promo code to become regular users and they told me it's very low.

I would think a more proper promotion (being a Marketing guy myself) is every trip you take and pay more than RM5 we will give you a free trip worth RM5 up to a limit of say 10 in a week during promotion period.

Since up front fare, as a rider i cant see the surge amt (eg1.7, 1.8, 2.0 etc)
How about you Uber drivers here, can you see the surge rate?

Uber is lack of driver now due to their cheap fare and stupid policy, what would you expect eh? Just top up a bit, take Grab or take taxi lor........

gone are the days of cheap fare and many drivers......many drivers start to realised at petrol cost of RM2.29, it aint going to work out, if petrol still like last time, below RM2, can still barely pull through lah....now, charity drive, got to rely on incentives.....which is dammed uncertain, and u don't know where your rider destination, throw in plenty of cheap voucher, literally, can even less than 1km trip  those part-timers had quit or move to Grab

Uber is heading to the downsouth, they got the riders, but, no drivers.....while Grab at the moment is playing their strategy right, balance, very soon, the history of Didi "killed off" Uber in China will repeat here if the Uber Malaysia still sleeping, or perhaps, Malaysia is not a exciting market for Uber global, so, not a fuark given.....

Then, unless there will be another strong competitors come in, else Grab will monopolised everything, drivers will at the mercy of them  For those driving part time, for fun, at least they can pull out anytime they want. For those driving full time, good luck for them, another taxi pajak in disguise waiting for them, slavery for the car

If Uber has rebounded, how come still so many long distance pickup ?
Average is still more than 3km per pickup.

ACE incentive is for every driver or what ?
I have never received any e-mail from Uber regarding this.

How many % drivers are actually in this ?
Or it is just given to new drivers only ?

LOL what.. 22km trip Grab calculate fare RM23. Really use pembaris...

SD restriction is really backfire, I doubt this move help to put more cars online during peak/busy hours, it only reduced even more cars now. And I notice during non busy hours, there are so many Uber cars online.

Uber still giving free ride promo like crazy?

Ok lah, still got 50% balance after minus off the car maintenance. Petrol include or not?

Last time when I drive, when the petrol still below RM2/liter, everyday I keep tap on it, got seperate account, how much fare I got, how much I spend for petrol, spend for maintainance, average out over 1 year period, return only 20% max  And, the hours, usually 12 hours min, but, I drive whenever I sukak lah, I don't follow time (last time, got dunno what peak hour bonus lah, etc), I usually drive off-peak hour, less traffic, less stress.

Demand still there, then, more and more tempang and demanding riders, it ain't fun driving around already.....and the one broke the camel back, the introduce fixed fare  Uber.....

For that experience, yeah, fun.....still remember my first drive, pick up one part time DJ work for RTM (which I don't recognised him, coz I don't listen to RTM  , immediately I try to tune my radio into RTM channel to show support, konon wanna give 5* service while pretend calm, actually dammed nervous). He spotted it, asked me "New driver?" I sheepish reply, u r my first rider  ...then, he very nice, keep talking to me, ask me to treat as friend tumpang my car, and promise give me 5* rating.

The subsequent few were also pleasant, maybe that time Uber just accept card payment, so, rider well behave, worry they kena banned, their records Uber all have. The fare is quite ok too, about 20% lesser than taxi, but, customer no complain, only praise, good pleasant driver, nice car, safe. Some customer also feel very weird, why no need pay me end of ride one, keep asking me, sure no need pay u anything? Sure u get paid? Need to assure them, no worry, Uber will charge your credit card, and then they will pay me. Don't worry.... Of course, rider also lesser lah. one day usually 6-8 request, but, still can hit RM100-RM120 per day. In between, I drop off, then, go home.

Then, they slash fare, they accept cash, do more promotion, encourage tempang rider, and, the rider quality start deteriorate, but, still acceptable lah......

Then, as more and more popular, plus government acknowledge them (still remember government silent on that, once a while kena harrassed by taxi drivers, go pick up riders at klcc or pavillion, feel like going to war or gallow  worst when pickup tourist, they don't have local phone number, they don't know Malaysia taxi gangster, wait at taxi stand and wave like crazy to tell whole world u r Uber  ) or worry where SPAD have operation (still remember one time SPAD had operation at Sunway, Uber send sms to all drivers, ask to avoid Sunway Pyramid, reason, heavy traffic jam, but, the old thread news spread like crazy, dunno how many car kena impounded, actually wayang only, for reporter to see, tomorrow call to release back the car)

Oh well, those were the old days.....feel very old already, only oldfag Uber driver can relates all above.......
