Hi.. Is there anyone using minix u22xj and run astro go on it? Wondering if the newer minix got any problem or not. And if you do, are you using wifi or ethernet?

By the way i am using minix u9h now and running latest aotg and hypp tv and my box connected via ethernet. Both apps working fine.

So i think i'll buy newer model if its confirm can run smoothly. Or else, i think i just buy another u9h then. Thanks guys.

not using the latest apk, but a mod based on the last one that worked before the hdmi block

I would like to install astro OTG without rooting anything (ie update directly from google official app store). Any suggestion?

Hi all the sifus here. I'm using Shield Pro 2019. No problem to install AOTG , latest version. App loaded no problem, account login ok. But when play, only sound, no pictures display. I've tried to set TV resolution from 4k to 1080p, but still just sound no picture.

Did I miss out any steps?

Had same experience when using on xiaomi mi9 phone but ok for my tx3.

Here I mod the previous apk and version named it to latest 2.201.4/AC20.1.4/8f38551 | 80472 .. so can use on mi9.

the app is fussy.
i doubt there is any box out there where u can install the app from playstore and it auto updates.
you can with phone and tablets, but not in a box.

the next best thing is to use a box where u can sideload the easily available apk and update whenever it requires a new one.

lastly, for the apk, u need a box that is unrooted or with a switch to unroot.
if rooted, unlikely u will get it to work with any apk, modified or unmodified.

Thanks, so that means whether we can load the apk into the android box depends on someone uploading the apk to the internet?

Also it is possible that astro can lockdown on the android box causing us unable to use it anymore right?

the apk in other websites like apkpure is the same one as found in the playstore.
u can take from either using pc or even extract from yr phone or tablet, as long as it is for android.
the only thing is u cannot install (and it won't auto update) direct from playstore.
it detects something in the box... could be hdmi out or mac no. or ? and will not install... i do not know for sure

astro has been consciously changing the apk to make it less unusable on boxes over the years.
becos they want it to be used only on mobile devices.
more boxes and smart tv's used to be able to run it but that has changed.
right now, only a few can do that; others resort to modified apk's; some get only audio; some can't do HD channels; some won't even install.
if box is an unknown brand/model, nobody will know if it will work.
the ones that will work, u will find the comments in this thread but the list keeps changing as the latest apk arrives.

bro since you must be well versed in android programming or some sort... out of curiousity, how hard is it to properly mod the newer AOTG apks so that it will not block streaming from hdmi?
AT&T's DIRECTTV is also doing the same thing on their mobile apk (because there's no proper android TV app and people have been using the mobile version), but I read that modders have managed to unblock it, not just change the version like what we are doing here.
