Saudi pilot dies after Typhoon warplane crashes in Yemen

user posted image

QUOTE
A Saudi pilot has died after his warplane crashed in the region of Abyan due to a technical failure during an operation against al-Qaeda in Yemen.

The Saudi-led coalition at war in Yemen says the Typhoon warplane crashed into a mountain in Al Wade’a district on Wednesday, Yemen’s Saba news agency reported.

The report identified the pilot as Mahna al-Biz.

It is the second death this week of a coalition pilot. On Monday, authorities said an Emirati pilot was killed due to a technical malfunction, without elaborating.

lighter and less complicated than 57mm gun, no deck penetration, can attack up to 10nm,etc

Saudi Arabia wanted an AV-8 for testing. They also visited the Denel line. Maybe will buy, probably not unless there's some political reason.

EU Anschluss perhaps

A more integrated EU Corps has always been the objective. Only because UK refused to be more integrated did they have the system of building groups around a core unit, either UK, French or German.

Dono WTF you gonna expect to hit with it

Naval mount require lots of stabilisation, unless it is included in the containerised unit, the shots will fly all over the place

kek i was wrong

still, to go for nemo instead of regular 120mm mortar like in adnan is really good news. Having more 120mm mortar carrier is good enuf but to have a turreted mortar is really icing on cake

it has been done on even smaller vessel, so can assume the turret has at least 2.5d stabilization, just that this version got deck penetration but they oso offer container version which is perfect on lms which really lack some heavy punch

I do not think AV-8 uses NEMO, which is a Finnish weapon. AV-8 should be using the Thales 2R2M, seen here on Piranha, Centauro and of course Adnan

As recently demonstrated with the two A400M flying in humanitarian aid to the Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. They easily could handle the range and payload.

A lot of multinational european military forces formed before, but they just don't seem to work. Probably Germany said "screw that" and starts assembling military units of allied countries into the Bundeswehr itself.

Heck, the Dutch military is nearly fully absorbed by the Bundeswehr that it only has 1 brigade left in its own army (the 13th Light Brigade) from the original 3; the 43rd Mechanized Brigade and the 11th Airmobile Brigade was absorbed into the Bundeswehr back in 2016 and 2014, respectively. That means literally 2/3 of the Dutch army is under German control. WTF. laugh.gif

Hah! I never liked the purchase in the first place. Seems like there are other options we could have and should have taken.
