Guys, I have 2 options: 1 is Samsung RU7400 and the other is Sony X8000G. Which 1 should I go for?
Senheng salesperson told me Panasonic GX740 got internet issues. I dunno how true is this. This post has been edited by St.Paul: Dec 3 2019, 10:54 AM |

Salesperson spits all sort of crap just to tempt you to buy their specific models .Senheng salesperson told me Panasonic GX740 got internet issues. I dunno how true is this. I have not heard of any widespread issue from the Panasonic models this year , so I don't think it is much of a problem . Both RU7400 and XG80 are at the same level , except one is running on Tizen and the other one is running on Android OS . The Samsung model is of VA screens while the Sony's one is using IPS . That should be your key factor of deciding which one to buy . Panasonic doesn't sell their TV in US , rtings is based in Canada so they are limited to buying TV models available in the US only .If you can't find NU8000 anymore the GX800 is the best option you have in the mid-range budget . Good isn't the word I would use , adequate ... maybe ?btw nu8000 doesnt have dolby vision right? The thing about HDR performance is , it varies a lot between each brand and TV models . The current gen of consumer devices are still incapable of showing the true quality of HDR content . So TV displays have to rely on a process called tonemapping to show off the HDR effects more precisely . Which is why beside the hardware numbers , the brand's inherent knowledge on the field is also playing a part here. These Panasonic TV from this year came with a HDR optimizer feature which provides dynamic meta data for HDR10 and it is one of the best in the industry . Don't compare it with an OLED TV , of course . GX800 is a mid-range LCD TV . OLED TV are ahead of most LCD TV by bounds and leaps when it comes to sheer contrast and picture quality . All Samsung TVs are not compatible with Dolby Vision. This post has been edited by Convael: Dec 6 2019, 04:29 PM |

hi sifus,
i am in the look for a new 65" TV and as usual, i need recommendation. My budget need not to exceed 4.5k, but if the offer is too good, can stretch a bit laa. I have a few TVs in mind after some recce session which i get for max 4.5k. Maybe some user can tell their experience or some sifu can tell pros n cons of each TV, as i have read thru reviews and still cant make up my mind. I am still open to other offers. So here what i have in mind. 1. Samsung RU7400 - with 5 years extended warranty - not sure pros and cons, the shop just suggested me this. I know this is VA Panel. Not a fan, but most prefer this over IPS because of better contrast. 2. Sony X8000G - with 5 years extended warranty - not sure pros and cons, but it is cheaper than above by 100+. not sure VA or IPS but i think this is android TV. Not sure weather i need the ATV function or not. 3. LG UM7600 - with 5 years extended warranty - Tops my list just because of the IPS Panel. Not sure the "grayish" black will annoy me or not. 4. Panasonic GX740 - 2 years warranty only (5k++ if want to extend warranty) - Interested with the Dolby Vision offered + IPS. As many here suggested the GX800, im not sure what the diff with this model. Cant find the differences. I wish someone knew where to get this with 5 yrs warranty under my budget. 5. Sony X8500F - Display unit with 5 years warranty (4y++ warranty left) - Well its the cheapest from all and it looks like 1 step higher model compare to the rest just because its 2018 model. My worries its a display unit but the warranty give a bit of ease, its 5 yrs Sony warranty. My TV usage will mostly be only on Netflix, and occasional Astro and PS4 Pro. I spend most of my days working and browsing on PC/laptop only but since im getting a new TV, why not having the best within my budget. I really not sure the use of ATV so im dunno weather to pick SMART or Android TV. Most i heard is Android TV will lag, unsure how true is that. that's all so far, i hope sifus can help. Thanks This post has been edited by irsyadfy: Dec 6 2019, 09:12 PM |

Yes , GX800 is far brighter and more color-accurate than most traditional TVs . Both Panasonic and Sony are being really generous with their budget models and mid-range this year . You can still consider a C8 if you can't afford a C9 since the price has dropped tremendously . This post has been edited by Convael: Dec 10 2019, 09:41 AM |

For Panasonic GX800K ,you can get a demo test (there is a demo unit) at Harvey Norman @ Ikano / IPC. I bought mine there. Superb customer service.
