Want to buy a new TV!! Aiming for 65 inch OLED, sony 9ag rm17299? lg c9 rm13999? panasonic gz1000 rm12999? Well, I believe most of the people will suggest to go for sony, but I am quite interesting about the gz1000 and it is not much review about the panasonic OLED why why?

However, I am also quite interesting with the sony x9500 which cost rm17299 but it is 85 inch!! 4K smart UHD TV

Please give me your opinion regarding the items I mention above also if you have another suggestion too smile.gif thanks brother and sister!!

hi sifus,

i am in the look for a new 65" TV and as usual, i need recommendation. My budget need not to exceed 4.5k, but if the offer is too good, can stretch a bit laa. I have a few TVs in mind after some recce session which i get for max 4.5k. Maybe some user can tell their experience or some sifu can tell pros n cons of each TV, as i have read thru reviews and still cant make up my mind. I am still open to other offers.

So here what i have in mind.

1. Samsung RU7400 - with 5 years extended warranty
- not sure pros and cons, the shop just suggested me this. I know this is VA Panel. Not a fan, but most prefer this over IPS because of better contrast.

2. Sony X8000G - with 5 years extended warranty
- not sure pros and cons, but it is cheaper than above by 100+. not sure VA or IPS but i think this is android TV. Not sure weather i need the ATV function or not.

3. LG UM7600 - with 5 years extended warranty
- Tops my list just because of the IPS Panel. Not sure the "grayish" black will annoy me or not.

4. Panasonic GX740 - 2 years warranty only (5k++ if want to extend warranty)
- Interested with the Dolby Vision offered + IPS. As many here suggested the GX800, im not sure what the diff with this model. Cant find the differences. I wish someone knew where to get this with 5 yrs warranty under my budget.

5. Sony X8500F - Display unit with 5 years warranty (4y++ warranty left)
- Well its the cheapest from all and it looks like 1 step higher model compare to the rest just because its 2018 model. My worries its a display unit but the warranty give a bit of ease, its 5 yrs Sony warranty.
My TV usage will mostly be only on Netflix, and occasional Astro and PS4 Pro. I spend most of my days working and browsing on PC/laptop only but since im getting a new TV, why not having the best within my budget. I really not sure the use of ATV so im dunno weather to pick SMART or Android TV. Most i heard is Android TV will lag, unsure how true is that.

that's all so far, i hope sifus can help.
Thanks  notworthy.gif

Personally i found Sony X8000G have darker panel than the newer Sony X8500F and IQ is nicer , if Panasonic = prefer go for 800 series and above...LG, consider their 8000 series too.

65" 4k TV at a price tag of $2900 is quite attractive but this is a 2018 model .

The drawback being Samsung has removed way too many features on their 7100 series .

If you have a bit more budget to spare I suggest getting the the RU7400 / NU7400 instead .

Thanks for your reply. Do you have any recommendation for budget around RM3500. Most of the time I watch tv with tvbox only, so I giess tvbox is providing abt 720p to 1080p right? 😂

The Sony 65" X7000G has also dropped below $3500 .
Same goes for the X8000G models . Both featuring wider color reproduction for HDR viewing .

LG 's UM7300 series is also roughly at the same price , if you don't watch any HDR content .

There are also TV boxes which supported 4k resolution .

Bought an LG 65SM9100 Nanocell TV. I know it is after the fact, but would like to hear everyone comment. Purchase at rm5999. My thought process, full array led, local dimming, dolby atmos, webos which others claim is fast and intuitive.

I prefer not to trample on your newly bought TV . Look at the bright side , at least it comes with full specification of HDMI 2.1 ports and native compatibility of Dolby Vision and Atmos .

I am using one with local dimming as well and not a fan of it. Next time, I will save up and get a proper OLED TV.

I like the WebOS though. Very easy to use, supports Spotify, Youtube, etc the basic stuff that I need.

EDIT: Mine is 65SJ850T I believe. Bought it for RM9+k about 2+ years ago.

Since this is 65" TV thread, I thought I'd share my thoughts on the cheapest 65" TV in the market right now. The HAIER LE65K6500UA. This one actually replaced my aging 34" CRT Panasonic TX-34P180M.
I got it for RM2299 from Sen Heng. I did purchase it extended 3 year warranty and a wall bracket that supports up to 80".

The viewing angles aren't that impressive. But straight on it's fine. Currently using it to watch Astro HD. The Tamil HD channels do look impressive. Probably it's because I'm so used to seeing CRT
The HD movies channels do look abit muted on the colours.

For the built in app, it's a total disaster though. It runs on Andoid version 4.4.4 / Kit Kat. It doesn't have normal YouTube, only Smart Youtube. Also it's limited to 1080p, I've confirmed this with Haier support. For some reason choosing VP9 stream will close the app and bring you to the menu. AVC streams work fine.

USB port is 2.0 and you get 2. HDMI is 2.0, you get 3 and you have ARC support. I decided to try Chromecast Ultra and it does display 4k60hz correctly. The only thing I couldn't confirm is if this tv has HDR(it's advertised on their cny brochure).

UPDATE: Astro Ultra Box works in 4k with this tv. Just make sure to enable 4K Enhanced from the tv settings menu or else Astro will display at 1080p only.
