no i never got ssds from amazon yet. however to me this is similar to a user getting oem ssds in local retail market (slightly better because you can still get firmware and software support).

the main point to consider is warranty. samsung doesn't have international warranty coverage. about the part if you can send it back to seller for warranty, yes it's possible, and it involves shipping costs (maybe to and fro), also provided that the seller is committed to do that for you.

another one from crucial, mx500, https://www.anandtech.com/show/12165/the-cr...-1tb-ssd-review

it uses their own 64-layer tlc 3d nand; crucial/micron seem like replacing the controller from marvell with the one from silicon motion in all their new models.

leaks showed that there will be a new 860 pro, supposedly replacing the current 850 pro (now up to 4tb), http://www.pcgamer.com/samsungs-site-is-sh...drive-for-1900/

wow. it will do the job fine, but it's more like home-made mod that we can get from many places with a much cheaper price.

any feedback?saw at shopee @ rm319

for this model, i suggest you skip it, and find other choices.

from what i have read, it comes with different configurations (internal components) for the same model, like controller and nand part. some reports showed that certain batches use planar mlc, while others use planar tlc nand; and in general mlc > tlc nand, especially planar tlc. i personally don't like drives with this type of configurations even for home use. some companies have done this before for their certain models, and they didn't end well for both manufacturers and consumers.

again, don't take my words for it. please find out more existing user comments about the model, and justify yourself.

it's better to spend time looking for other options. it's really not a good choice.

i believe that a value/entry-level ssd still performs relatively better than a hdd. however once you use it for a workload beyond its performance limits, things will go south all the way. sometimes it can be even worse than hdd.

sweet hehe

if you used romex primocache you can get even crazier numbers (for fun only; in real life, rapid mode is just as good for our usage lol)

you should apply OP (at least the recommended value), to prevent potential slowdown when the disk is almost full.

it's because of the samsung magician software using your RAM as cache when rapid mode is turned on

that one is the actual speed, without rapid mode lol

like our friend said, samsung magician is using your system ram as cache for the ssd.

no. usually for a sata ssd like yours, it can only run up to the max advertised speeds (sequential r/w, random r/w, as shown in 850 evo m.2 specifications table). rapid mode in samsung magician uses a small part of your total system ram as cache for applications and data stored in your ssd. since ram is much faster than nand flash, this feature helps reduce application load time, and data reads/writes, hence making your system relatively more responsive. besides that it also helps reduce writes to ssd, hence prolong ssd's shelf life.
