It depends on where you place your 'ding dong' when you ride. tongue.gif Hahaha , no larr! just joking.

It is supposed to be level. I usually level it with a bubble gauge, you know those used by construction fellas. I lay it over the saddle and then adjust till it levels. But many can just go by the eye guess-timation. But beware, do it when the bike is upright and not on it's kick stand.

Even after this, try out and if the saddle feels like poking you, you need to lower the front a bit and if it is vice versa and you feel like sliding down, you need to get the rear lower. Some saddles are designed with a higher rear so that your rear end pushes or rather leans on it for support so that you can pedal stronger.

Some time, extremely low handlebar ( over 3 inches below handlebar) will lead to discomfort in the rear end...Sure must tilt saddle nose down.

My saddle is level cos old ppl must sit up with handlebar above saddle

I just got a Java Decaf Folding Bike.

Since everything is stock, i might as well abuse the parts before changing.

Now, im planning to change the following in the future:

-rims
-chain
-seatpost / saddle

Any idea on the brands that is really sturdy on these parts? I live in the city center and what bike shops do you recommend?

Thanks in advance.

If you got a 7 speed, don't bother to change rims and chain unless you change the whole set to 8sp and above. meaning rim, cassette, chain, derailluer, shifters.
Saddle and seatpost, get a decent one like sella will do. choose those relaxed position.

-rims

Are you changing just the rims or the whole wheelset? The rims are just the circular metal that holds your tires and for this alone, the cost of re-lacing the wheels are going to cost you in KL and many won't do it. As for the whole wheelset, there are many brands and most common and popular is the Lite Pro. Can get it online from Billy Bike Shop and also just PnP.

-chain

Why change the chains when they are still OK. Honestly, a Shimano or a SRAM chain or KMC or YBN won't be much different in the case of foldies. No need to change the chain unless it is worn off.

-seatpost / saddle

Seat post , most probable upgrade is Litepro, else others are all the same weight. I mean weight is the only issue in changing seat post. As for saddles, this is really personal for most riders as everybody's rump is different. Usually one won't go wrong with Brooks B17, so far I never heard anyone says they are not good.

Any idea on the brands that is really sturdy on these parts? I live in the city center and what bike shops do you recommend?

City center?  blink.gif  If in the outskirts, Kimbell Jaya in Cheras Perdana is a good place to hunt for upgrades. OK that answered, here's my opinion, what you want to upgrade is actually not really helping, the wheelset is, if you really want it but can be missed though. What's really important is the gearings, more ratios, better performance, smoother shifting. Saddles are a good change if the existing one don't fit. Tires are important, narrower ones will make it easier to ride but more bumpy, whichever way you want to go faster but bumpier or bigger but more comfortable. By the time you finish this existing tire, it will be a year or two biggrin.gif

Thanks in advance.

The XDS K3 looks good. They do build solid frames but because of human's chase for branding, they are not popular compared to the Terns or Dahons. The XDS K3 is more than enough for the job that you described. Like I said, if branding is not an issue, or the size of the fold isn't, it is more than enough.

BUT ! tongue.gif

If you, one day will to join a biking group, riding here and there weekly, that's where the problem comes in. This is a big IF lah! Peer pressure will make you want to change bikes, not the performance of the bike or the quality but usually it is the peer pressure! icon_rolleyes.gif
