that is what i get too, maybe a bit better.

wifi 2.4ghz... seems that is the best u can get, whatever router, distance, device, channel...
again, what was the distance when test with 5ghz to get to 105, 109?
*
What router you are using? Distance about 5 to 10ft..

ok, 5-10 ft only.

i tested the stock tplink c1200... same results like u showed.

only that when i go 50ft 5ghz, it dropped to 65-70 even on a new device.

ethernet and 5-10ft, no sweat.. 105.

i am looking for data and confirmation from users if a better router can get >90 at 50-55ft on 5ghz wifi.

if doable, i will change to better router as well as get a 5ghz wifi dongle for use with my pc which has only 2.4ghz.

the stuff i read says it should be able to go as far as 100ft w/o significant loss... but i doubt it... 50 ft start to drop >30% already....

You can’t really know until you test tbh. It depends on the layout of your house and the router that you are using. 5GHz is very weak and can’t penetrate walls as well as 2.4GHz. The best thing you can do is to get a good top end router and then test it with your PC with a good WiFi adapter as well, and I don’t meant a cheap wifi adapter. You need something good as well. Bottom line, both the transmitter and receiver needs to be good.

Well a lots of difference between 2ghz and 5ghz on 100Mbps.Hmmm confused.gif  :
As mentioned previously, there's nothing else you can do with the 2.4GHz
Even if you use the most expensive ASUS router which is the GT-AC5300, you still won't get 100Mb/s on 2.4GHz
100Mb/s can only be achieved with 5GHz

It's the limitation of 2.4GHz devices

sHawTY,
Was thinking of getting this ROG Rapture GT-AC5300 but think is gonna be overkill for me since I'm not gamer...

How to know I'm using latest firmware for ASUS router ? Any way to check ?

100Mbps can be achieved via 2.4Ghz but both ways (transceiver and receiver) need to support the exact Modulation & Coding (MSC Index) which is Broadcom's proprietary, not the wireless standard but since the most device is only 2x2, you will not get 100Mbps on 2.4Ghz.

Normally on 1 spatial stream, it can only support up to 72Mbps.If u include the overhead and transmission lost it will be less than 50Mbps per stream.

Most users are fixated on the transceiver part, that the receiver part must be supported too.

Anyone knows what's the maximum speed attainable for high rise building?

Called TM to inquire about the RYE upgrade and was told that as my home is high rise, it could only support up to 50 mbps ohmy.gif

that means it's vdsl based, unless you and the whole residents pressure for fiber

How to pressure to TM ? Will tm take care if most of the resident agree to fiber the full building. Any success case here and what the steps involve ?

This : http://www.lazada.com.my/tp-link-ac1300-hi...d656WnhdBN&mp=1

Or this: http://www.lazada.com.my/tp-link-ac1200-wi...558drCwVzS&mp=1

Not much difference, but if you want a stronger receiver, go for the first one.

TP Link T9UH AC1900 or Asus USB-AC68. The latter is quite costly but I am happy with it although it is underutilised with my Archer C5.

WiFi adapter doesn't need to be ASUS, even TP-Link is fine
Are you going to use this on a laptop or desktop?
