QUOTE(Old1030 @ Nov 7 2024, 07:25 PM) Hopefully based on this round (2nd for civic) recall they have improve mechanical design on the rack If not it will be same issue like civic, replace faulty part with the same part then replace again when its faulty Whats the point of a recall if you going to get same design and wait to fail Well FYI this is recall no. 2 for civic steering rack for the exact same issue. Sceptically speaking the point would be to shut the customer from crying father mother and drag until warranty over. Remember the corrective action right now is just add more grease and change a tiny spring (which they didn’t even state will be a new design / spec). Had they really fixed things they will have a conscience and recall also FC Civic because that model has the exact same problem too, and their owners have been suffering through the whole time by changing countless steering racks.

It is going to be an improved part, FYI. https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a62570036...ng-rack-recall/QUOTE Affected owners will be asked to set up an appointment with their local Honda dealer, which will inspect the car and replace the worm gear spring with an improved part and redistribute or add grease. https://www.carlist.my/news/honda-malaysia-...-139756/139756/QUOTE To address this, Honda Malaysia will replace the EPS gearbox in affected models with an upgraded unit. I had checked the my 2024 CRV on Honda recallproduct page. It stated need 1 product update steering kit. So far no problem with the car. Should the car be left alone? I am worry if nothing wrong then they open up become something wrong.

The recall announcement mentioned something like "inspection and/or replacement as needed".

Change steering gearbox is a 1 full day affair....but coincide with your oil change is a good idea. However Honda malaysia being the stingy OEM will want to do inspection first, see if you actually have sticky steering, then service center write up your claim, wait for review and approval and THEN order spare part. For civic the spare part is actually 2 months lead time. So you need to choose which one coincide with your oil change, the inspection day or the replacement day. The inspection / diagnosis is about 2 hours.

The inspection / diagnosis is about 2 hours. This usually depends on SC. My past experiences, Global Amity Bangi, 4S Sg Long Kajang and New Era Kajang great to customer for warranty claim without any much question asked. However, one SC in PJ and another in Setia Alam, very lazy when comes to warranty claim, everything taici said cant claim, cannot request for warranty check but ok if normal paid service. Worst one is the SC in Semenyih, even driveshaft leaking oil said it is expected and normal by their SC manager This post has been edited by ayamxxx: Nov 9 2024, 09:29 PM

Cannot be instant and cannot be guarantee approve. Your experience may also relate to the actual issue, perhaps your negative experience also due to the issue difficult to get clear cut Honda approval- which is another separate discussion. End of the day with H perhaps it’s not easy.

Lots of leftover stocks from the lower end variants so they’re trying hard to clear those stocks. I would recommend staying with V or RS. Personally, the 360 camera is worth it and if getting V the AWD is a big bonus, whereas RS refinement needs no introduction (I think most showrooms demo unit are RS models).

I do like the 360 camera but the 5 gen AWD I once tried has unacceptable poor pickup. May be that unit has problem, I wouldn't know. For that reason alone, I went for E spec.
