1) If your item really held by kastam, they will send you letter to fill in. There will be 3 choice to pick:
Pick by yourself
Pick by yourfriend (need IC and so on)
Ask agent to take for you (RM50 extra)

Fill the form and fax to the num given

My choice is "Pick up myself"
Why? For example the price for the item is USD1000
so you will be tax 20% and USD200 right?
if you ask the kastam to lower your value also no problem
last time i have to pay RM350+
but i ask to lower down the value of the tax to RM200.
They give me without asking so much.
So, my advice, go kastam and pick up.

I want to buy shoe from online website, wht is the taxs I hv to paY?
If my items are held up by the customs, how can i retrieve it from them? I'm from kedah, where to retrieve my item?
HOW CAN I RETRIEVE IT FROM THEM? ANYONE KNOW?

buy shoes from custom will be getting a import tax of at least 30%, plus 10% sales tax.

See whether which method you bring in the items.
if via air freight, then that would be alot easier
u can get at KLIA, Cargo terminal, POS MALAYSIA building.

If via sea friehgt, then thats abit trouble compare to air freight.
u have to see which Kastam office to hold your items.
Caz Klang port got few office. and you must refer to the proper office to get your stuff.

note: your goods which being holdup in sea port, will definately take ALOT longer time to retrieve your goods. Unless you have your freight agent take care of the goods.

Really? Fedex will pay first? I'm experiencing some Kastam problem even from my supplier country (UK) where the Fedex ask me to pay USD500 to clear their kastam before they ship the item to me....and if it reach here (malaysia) then kena tax again.....really 'beh tahan' lar....

anyone can help to settle kastam problem when it got help-up in there?

Added on July 17, 2007, 8:54 pmSince no one willing to point out the location of the Cargo Terminal,Pos Malaysia Building?

i decided to go down today to claim my "Eliminator CPU Cooler" which were tahan by the Kastam by agak agak it should be near LCCT.

If u ask Pos Malaysia as a agent to clear for u...it will be estd RM49.50(service charge) excluding tax if kena lah.

As i am staying in Sentul,i decided to take Star Shuttle which will pass the Pekeliling Stop every 45min

My 1st mistake, thought it some sort of Rapid Bus...i saw a 8:30am,i hailed and it stop luckily.
The nice bus driver told me that i should have bought the ticket near pekeliling counter.

So i bought the ticket at the next stop at Batu 3 Jalan Ipoh..
I request that i be drop at Kastam Office when reach near LCCT.

I reach Cargo Terminal,Pos Malaysia Building about 9:45am.Walk across the road only about 2 min.

U need to leave your driving license at the GuardHouse and they will give u a Pass number tag, and was told that i should proceed to Room 2 just beside the Cargo Terminal,Pos Malaysia Building(maybe 45 second walk)

Proceed to Room 2(got sign board)and show them the form but needed to fill all your personal detail, like IC,Address..

Was pass another form to go to Pos Malaysia Counter(near Kastam Counter) to retrieve your package by showing your IC/document and leave your number tag with them.

Proceed with the package for inspection at Kastam Counter One,open in front of Kastam Officer and same time show them the sales invoices/any information pertaining to your packages and in my case,i told them it is a CPU cooler.....they chop on my supporting document and ask me to proceed Kastam Payment Counter.

The Kastam officer there proceed to check on his PC whether my CPU Cooler needed to be Tax.......NO TAX...and i was given a No TAX Slip which i need to pass back to Pos Office Counter to retrieve back my Pass Tag Number.

All the counter which i go to and fro are nearby each other...about 10min

Finally i get back my Driving License at the GuardHouse when i pass them the "No TAX" receipt and Pass Tag Number.
AS LCCT is nearby, about 3 min brisk walk
and i hop on the next Bus scheduled to left LCCT at 10:45am

i decided to shop at LCCT as i have about 45 min to spare

i managed to get the same bus driver back to K.L as well.

I save on RM49.50 which i spend on my bus trip RM9 x two way=RM18 and also my off day!!

SO it better to go to retrieve your item if it ever get "tahan" at Kastam...

A very Good X perience....and all the kastam officer is so efficient as well as the Pos Office staff there....even they comented i clear the stuff in record time as i can see some other people Pass Number Tag still there even after i get back my own.

Could be i got only one item to clear......anyway in future my experience will be good info for those might wan to clear the stuff from "kastam" next time.

I got a problem with kastams too. I just bought a shipment of 5 japanese magazines from Amazon.jp and they ship via FedEx. Supposed to arrive on wednesday, but till now no sign, so I call FedEX they said the package kena tahan sad.gif.

FedEx told me that they will have to wait for KDN to fax them a letter next week or smth only then can see how to go about.

So anyone has any ideas on how to make it faster? Can I go claim the package from them like what MAkNok did? The package status in FedEx tracking is in Sepang, awaiting clearance.

KDN is Kementerian Keselamatan Dalam Negeri.

They'll need to go through your magazine, in case they are porno or anything prohibited to enter Malaysia. It has nothing to do with Custom.
