Hi there,

My friend has sent back some of my purchases (mainly small leather goods) and had mistakenly declared it as USD500 instead of RM500 under gift. I am prepared to be taxed on this but just to know, how many % of taxes will be levied upon my purchases? Further, will I be able to clear the custom without invoice? Because all these items have been purchased for a long time and it is only until recently that I have decided to get my friend to send it back to me.

Thanks in advance for the replies.

depends on what leather goods.. tax (10% or 30%) + 10% sales tax

Thx bro

My order includes a leather case, a plastic case, charging dock and some spare batteries. Total comes up to over RM600

Its on the way here to Malaysia. Any idea how much I may be charged for imports and duties.

this is tricky, you need to declare per item. cause its not just leather... same goes to you if you lucky. your item might get by customs without tax..

Hi there,

My friend got me 2 Playstation Vita as gift.. If he declare as gift, when arrive in Malaysia will I be taxed to receive the gift?

I think total is 40,000 yen which is around Rm1,300 as to current rate.

Using Yamato courier or Japan post.

Another case is,

If my friend sent me the 2 Vita without and packaging, just console and the charger.. will I still get taxed?

Hi guys. Anyone here has the experience of purchasing things from Japan and shipping using EMS?

I wanna buy 4 figures from Japan and the total price is around RM490+. The dimensions are around 30cm x 20cm x 20cm if they stack it properly and the weight is less than 1.5kg. Does it look too big to "attract" custom's attention?

Should I request the seller to underprice the item or label it as "Gift"? Does doing this help anyway to avoid from being held by custom?

Hi,
I bought a Wireless display reciever (Netgear PTV300 Push2TV) from amazon.com
It cost $59.99 (RM 190) + shipping $36 (RM110), so total RM300.
It is shipped under AmazonGlobal Priority Shipping (the only shipping available and quite expensive sweat.gif ) which is known to use DHL

1. will I need to pay tax?
2. how much is taxed for electronic items? 10% of item price only or total(include shipping)?

Hi guys, I ordered a Titanic model ship (all 40" of it, quite a large one!) via eBay late last month and received a "letter" from the Post Laju mailman this morning... It stated that my ship is already in Malaysia and currently being "detained" at the Post Malaysia Customs Affairs Dept. in KLIA... I suspect this is for tax-related reasons, but does the Customs Dept. actually impose tax on such large models?

To be more precise, the letterhead stated "Pusat Mel dan Kurier", which is the large building next to the LCCT and opposite TuneHotels.com... Which means that if I were to head to the Airport to pick up the Titanic, I need to head to this building instead of the Customs complex?

Btw, I tried calling the number on the letter (+603-8777 3680) several times today but there was no reply... What other number can I contact, just to clarify with them on this matter?

Thank you in advance! biggrin.gif

Hi,
the custom office is inside this building together with pos malaysia. just go there to ask, they will guide you to collect your item from pos malaysia and pos will hold your I/C and you will take your model ship and show to custom officer just few step away. you need to open and show them and the custom officer may ask you the value and charge you some import duty, maybe you tell them for personal and not for commercial, you may skip for paying tax.
