i'm not experienced with mobile phones, but usually items worth less than RM500 are exempted from tax or customs duty.

abx sucks, really

last time i had experience with UPS (not USPS).

i had ordered a camera tripod from BHphoto in the US. photographic items are not supposed to be taxable. what more, the total value including shipping was less than rm500. they didn't call me or anything, but deliver straight to my house and asked me to pay for tax before they hand out the parcel to me. i mean WTF... charging tax on non taxable item. fortunately it's a company stuff, so less drama i just decided to pay and claim money from company later.

International couriers we need to beware of
- ABX
- FEDEX
- UPS

So far I never had any problem with tax or duty from
- DHL
- EMS (Pos Laju)

EMS usually asks receiver to come to the post office customs department if the package is big, because they want to see if you have suspicious items inside. That's all (most of the time).

camera tripod need pay tax, i kena tax before. i did when to custom office beside LCCT and show them the item for personal use (one item of professional tripod), but the officer instead to tax 15% + 5%, because it is accessories, unless it come with camera then no need pay. some more they want me to show the proof of payment, ask me login to bank account of the transaction in their PC. the value cannot simply say, they will force you login to paypal or you credit card account as well. finally cost RM160+ @##$%^&^%E$$..

Hi,
I bought a Wireless display reciever (Netgear PTV300 Push2TV) from amazon.com
It cost $59.99 (RM 190) + shipping $36 (RM110), so total RM300.
It is shipped under AmazonGlobal Priority Shipping (the only shipping available and quite expensive sweat.gif  ) which is known to use DHL

1. will I need to pay tax?
2. how much is taxed for electronic items? 10% of item price only or total(include shipping)?
*
The good thing about buying stuffs from amazon is they will advise if you need to pay tax on the checkout page. You just need to pay what has been show up during checkout. If attracted tax the time the order arrives, they will pay for you without any extra cost. BTW, shipping cost of $36 via dhl is very reasonable. It sounds like the volumetric weight is around 2kg. Cheers

Hi I want to ask, I'm planning to buy a video game collector set from Amazon, the price will be $152.99 for the set itself. The cheapest shipping that they allow me is the Expedited shipping which is $19.99. I have a few question:

1) Will I get taxed? If yes, will it be taxed according to the price of the set or set+shipping?
2) What is the tax rate?
3) Is expedited shipping reliable?

Thank you smile.gif

Hi, I got 5 boxes stuck with customs...
Mostly is DVD and Fan goods (Eg cheering goods, lightstick, bracelet

May I know the taxes for DVDs? It's MV DVDs so is it 30% or 10%?
I'm confused..

Also they only sent me 1 letter for multiple boxes...
so the question is will it be taxable for below RM 500 1 box or below RM 500 for 1 letter?

Looks like I'm trapped in a situation here!! Anyone can help?
Is there any recommended agent services then can help out?
