The ruling are not published, it's in their handbook....you must take note, for those item purchased below RM500 are not to be taxed if it's for personal usage. Those for trading or resale it's on their good hands whether to impose you the duty & taxes smile.gif

this what i got from kastam

QUOTE

Cukai Jualan = {Nilai Kastam(CIFC) + Duti Import } x Kadar Cukai Jualan (%)

Sekian, terima kasih.

The message above is crystal clear as i shared earlier, those importer as their name are used on the importation but for the purposes of personal are subject for exemption but it depends on the assessment during release. " Look at the Blue bold fonts highlighted"

Below scenario for your easy understandings:

1) Purchased of T-Shirts = RM 480 ( total pcs of 48 at each RM10/= ) >> Can this fall under personal use, how to justify, can it be for retail or re-seller?
2) Purchased of T-Shirt = RM 100 (total pcs of 2 at each RM50/=) >> This is fall under personal use, logically justified !

Answers for :

Scenario 1 = Without further quest asked you'll be taxed immediatelly which is 10% frm the CIF value even your purchase is below RM500, it means total payable is RM48/= only.
Scenario 2 = Given FULL EXEMPTION without further questioned asked

Anyone can advise the procedure to import electric bicycle categories as "motorized vehicles" under HS Code 87119000 into Malaysia?

I have checked with SIRIM, no approval for the bicycle as is powered by battery, approval needed only on the charger.

I can't seems to find this code on http://tariff.customs.gov.my/

Thank you so much!

Hi, hope sifus here can help.

My item is stuck at DHL warehouse pending customs clearance.

From the email I recieved I feel like being overtaxed.

The item is two backpack made from nylon 100%.

I've spent basically 120.83 GBP including shipping which come around at 600 MYR.

But the custom form show the value as 789.43 MYR blink.gif and I need to pay a tax of 165.78 MYR tax plus RM20 proc fees.

So, my question is

how long does it take to do custom clearance if I do it by myself?

Will it take days for my application to be processed?

Below is the forms for references. I welcomed any opinion from you guys.

btw since I can't do a thing with custom this weekend since weekend is holiday and Monday is public holiday, I'm about to be charged storage fee as well by DHL starting tomorrow. sad.gif

HI dude,

Go and declare it your self in the terminal, the actual HS CODE is 420292900 only 10% taxes frm your value after conversion.
The Freight amount should read as below <<RM150....This DHL reps are absurd !

Believe me i know they are just being ridiculous not the CUSTOMS but the clearing agent, go and do it your self !

I am planning to import 6 units for company event, but the size is like a golf buggy. Do you know a way to reduce the taxes?
I might require runner to do it for me.

Added on November 8, 2011, 6:01 pmI saw the import prohibition = Y, may i know what does this mean?

Thank you Dreamworkz, already went to declare and claim the item by myself at Kompleks Kargo Udara Kedua Pulau Pinang.

Just to share with others, the custom officer who entertained me in the office is quite a decent guy and one DHL rep in the custom office helped me to correct the declaration form. The code is as Dreamworkz stated, 420292900 and tax is only 10% from item price+freight+insurance which came up to RM 62.++ from a total of RM626.++. No other fee is charged on me, no agent fee, no processing fee except those 10% tax.

Need to wait about 2 hour though before another DHL guy come to hand me a letter to claim a pass before entering the Cargo Complex. After paying the tax, went to claim entry pass and straight to DHL warehouse.
(note: Need to leave IC or license to get your pass. You'll claim it back once you exit the complex after letting the custom check your stuff at exit point.)

However one Custom Officer at the exit checkpoint is quite disrespectful. Without answering my greeting straight away ask me to open my package when I hand him my declaration form.
After showing him my bags, he talked loudly to the other officer like I'm not standing there hearing him, "Wei hang mau beg tak? Aku ambik kaler Biru, hang ambik kaler Hijau." His friend however doesn't really sound like he want to entertain him saying he didn't want it, probably he's busy with the forms on his hand.

I showed him my tax reciept and let him check it. The other guy did inquire though whether the bags is expensive or not. The officer asked the brand, I just pointed at the tags, and then take my receipt back from him and gone straight away without saying anything. Most likely he mistook me as one of the runner boys they usually deal with since I went there by motorbike and wearing a jacket at that time.
