Hi guys,

As far as I know, if my items get detained by customs, I have an option to pay RM49.50 to assign Pos Malaysia as my agent to collect the parcel on my behalf. So far I know that it applies for Butterworth Customs.

Does it also apply to KLIA customs?

Well duty and sales tax are not calculated the simple way.
Let me try to illustrate. Let say your cargo CIF value is RM1000 and has import duty 10%, sales tax 10%.

So your import duty is 10% x RM1000 = RM100
Your sales tax is 10% x (RM1000 + RM100) = RM110

So total payable duty & tax = RM210.

So you see, it is not 20% x CIF value. This may seem like no big deal if your cargo value is small. But try to imagine those cargo worth few 100k or more.

will count on the weight but if it really been held i think can show the receipt you purchased for the value cost

Wanna ask, if i buy a bag a $200 camera bag +postage $230 in total from US, will it be taxed?
