drewn123 5 days only osaka i guess most people would say it’s too long. 1 day USJ, 2 days aquarium + the city would be plenty. The other 2-3 days do more day trips to Kyoto.

not interested in theme parks as it is just not my thing~. Maybe I will adjust to 2x day trips to Kyoto. hmm.gif

And how about driver license? I know that I can make a translate here https://idaoffice.org/ it is legally effective for up to three years. It will consist of a plastic ID card, a leaflet with the translation into 29 languages and a mobile application for Android and iOS. It would be enough?

At a cost of usd40 + usd?? shipping, why would you take the risk in applying for this unknown translation over a local Malaysian IDP (rm150)?

Then Osaka ~2 days is enough. Kyoto, 3-4 days also not enough. Either you make 3-4x day trips, or move to Kyoto for a few days smile.gif

Found klook.com while searching for discounted ticket or pass. Anyone has good/bad experience with it?
*
Used it for my trip in HK. But then for Japan since my flight reaches around 945pm and counter closes at 10pm I cant use most of the services. Only thing i can is USJ tickets.

Car rental service only recognise the valid IDP issue from your country. So you must apply the IDP (International Driving Permit) from JPJ.
Bring along 1 photocopy of IC & 1 passport size picture (White Back ground). They will charge RM150 for the IDP valid for 1 year duration.

Check Klook's T&C when you buy. Every attraction/ package is different. Some require you to provide hard copy of the voucher, some only need to see your e-voucher. But if you're not sure, for safety sake just print them although this is less environmentally friendly.

Klook is pretty good actually. I rented a portable wifi to Japan for 3 days and it only cost me HKD29!. This is pickup in HK airport though. Connection was great as it uses Softbank network and I am just in the city.

1) y nishiki market for 3days? n its open til 6pm. Pontocho Alley is nearby tho.

2) seem packed, just check their opening time n manage it. i wont judge.
tho i did ur day2 differently, 6am to Arashiyama (bamboo groove with no crowd n i skipped monkey park) > Ryoanji (opens 8am) > Ginkakuji (opens 9am) > Arashiyama (for Tenryuji + jojakoji, it really crowded at bamboo groove) > Nijo castle (arashiyama train to kyoto station pass it, so i took the chance since its was around 4pm++) > Gion Shijo

Day 5) can squeeze Fushimi Inari there. no closing/opening time, so u can go up early in the morning minus the crowd.

Day 8) tokyo?

Yeah just check terms. Be careful what you need ie printed or not and then when it can be done. I asked them what happens if I arrive after and 3 times I asked separately all couldnt give me answer. But when the system works it works well. smile.gif

Since gonna make a few trips out of Osaka, does buying Pass such as Kansai Thru Pass worth it? It only have up to 3days validity though. I wish it have longer duration since i wanna go out of kyoto a few times?

Thinking,
-kyoto
-nara
-kobe
-himeji
-wakayama

for trips to osaka surrounding areas like kyoto, nara, kobe i would say it costs about 800 yen one way.

subways usually costs 180-260 yen one way to any locations within the city itself. buses costs about the same for one way trips.

trips in and out from airport costs from 1100-1700 yen one way.

i just came back from osaka yesterday so i can still more or less remember the costs. laugh.gif

so u can do the math there yourself and see if its worth it.

Kansai Thru Pass tat cost 5200yen for 3days. Equivalent of 1700yen per day. As u said it gonna cost me 800per way to kobe/nara/kyoto. Definitely the pros of getting the pass is more than individually buying the tickets every day as the Kansai Thru Pass does cover buses n other rails within Kobe/nara/kyoto.

So u use any pass during ur visit? Thanks

Quick question about tax free items.

My gf brought tons of tax free cosmetic items and my flu medicine. All the items is sealed and not allow to use in Japan.

Does custom check the sealed item?

It’s been many years since I went Kyoto so my memory is a bit hazy, but I recall nishiki market is mostly a market, not much “buy and eat immediately” street food ...
