I think mining is fine, run it for fun. If you have 1 or 2 cards and busy with work, have it run to generate some lesser coins for HODL wouldn't hurt.

Was thinking of getting the Ryzen 5 1500x, that just suites my purpose for the next few years.

Anyone with 1060 running Claymore 9.7?

If not you should, there is about 8% increases in performance
Ive been running the new optimized ethminer for few days now ever since its came out.
Now seems Claymore has copied the open source code.
from what I can tell the performance between Claymore 9.7 and ethminer is about the same, about 8% increases in hashrate
