Only stubborn Samsung still put it at the back at worst off in a very ugly position.
Even Apple, HTC, Xiaomi etc all move to front already.

Yea. For my usage pattern, where the phone is always on my office table and car hands free kit, front finger print scanner is definitely preferred.

Not unless it offer Android O, feel more like an upgrade overall as a package. Else just seems like upgrade in camera and some speed. Assuming screen the same. Waiting to see Pixel 2.

Actually most Samsung have front FP sensor embed in homebutton. Except S8 and s8 plus only they move the finger print to the back due to cannot solve the touch ID embed under a clear surface problem yet. If the latest rumours are true Apple solved it in time for Iphone 8 . So Note 8 or S9 will have it in front again.

Front is actually mOre suitable. I also seldom use the thumb print function when using S8 , use pass code instead because not convenient to use.

I checked the mobile phone price in India compare to Malaysia. Their RRP for Samsung Galaxy s8 is Rs57,900, after conversion is around RM3,845 which is way higher then RM3,299 in Malaysia...

Will we get cheaper price than India for OnePlus 5?

I don't think it will be cheaper than 3t. 3t MSRP is rm2229. 3 was rm1888

If 2.8k, local dealer just kill oneplus malaysia market,
as s8 is around 3.2 before discout, different is just 4hundred, most 3k buyer will choose s8

u have to take in serious consideration, our RM VS USD is really bad comparing One Plus One era, i see Taiwan, China even singapore still selling 1+3t at very reasonable prices, we local set is nearly 2.3k ....

Can now get s8+ for about 3.1k..if one plus 5 is about 3k can forget it liao..

OnePlus is all about afforable flagship lah. If they break the mojo with OP5, then for sure sales will suffer. Since they are superstitious enuff to skip the number 4, I am sure they won't try to jinx this one as well.

And honestly, I don't find the design "offensive" at all. It's clearly disappointing that OnePlus kinda "borrows" some of iPhone 7 plus' design element, but who can actually call iPhone 7 Plus an ugly ass phone? The renders of 1+3 turns out to be surprisingly attractive to me. Why would you skip if it's a damn good phone with a oneplus-style-reasonably price? and it's not ugly at all. c'mon. duh.

I broke my 6P and I ALMOST picked up an S8+ because it looks freaking awesome. But, after a few more weeks of consideration, I decided to wait for 1+5.

-Near-stock Android
-Top graded and consistent performance
-Faster software update (yeah yeah yeah, 1+2 is fucked but SD810 is disastrous, personally, I find understandable)
-XDA community! (I had a great experience with the 1+2)
-Alert slider (this is crucial because I play wangzhe.)
-You get 60FPS for wangzhe rongyao! (chinese version of mobile legend) LOL rclxms.gif

i am using a Lenovo P2 and many of my friends haven't heard about it and ask me and i simply tell them it is at present , the best smartphone in the world becoz it best serve my needs.

i look at the 1+ 5 home button which is different from iphone 7 which is round and i wonder what the fuss .maybe it is the similarity at the back panel which i believe many would not give a ass about it.

the 1+5 gonna be a high spec phone , the final issue is the price

Depend on how you look at it. It's not cheating if I want to benchmark my phone at peak performance.

Like PC, I also benchmark after I overclock it.

For phone , I also close all application and restart before benchmark.

So all is good. Xda is stupid website.

yeah. somehow. the price is gonna shoot up to 2.5k and above. top up RM800 you get a way fuller package as the S8.
But stock android and app optimization is what i'm looking for. I can totally accept the design.

That makes buying the OP3T worthwhile since knowing the Op5T is going to be priced above Rm2.5k. Those with the 3T also would not bother upgrading.

erm, for the 1080p,i can bear it

but losing ois for second bokeh n telephoto lens are really set me back

i rather they use the new main sensor and keep the ois,losing the not so useful telephoto lens

other features are welcoming,but i guess i have to keep my op3 for another year

yeah. I'm gonna assume if OP3T was USD439 = RM2,299, then OP5 USD479/USD539 = RM2,599/RM2,899
However, OP3T was priced when ringgit was at its worst times. Slightly strengthen MYR might helps lower the price a little. Let's hope brightstar did not make this a wishful thinking. I think we can expect to get the 128GB version below 2700, just wait for the resellers to fight. OP3T was at 1.9k+.

Dont forget you have to apply for Sirim and not forgetting, if you import more than 1 unit, chances that your parcel will get withheld by Customs are quite high and you will be taxed when you go collect it.

But do select your warranty carefully when buying from them. megadisc have some bad experience with dealing with warranty buying a OPO 3T from them. laugh.gif

Both Sim 1 and 2 supports LTE. But you can only enable one Sim Data at a time. Meaning no dual data standby.

because it doesn't contain much dedicated processors inside? The iPhone contains dedicated ISP, gyro and other modules that will consume more space. OnePlus just use integrated modules inherited from snapdragon hence they save more space. Lets not compare battery life here since they run on different kernel and system slapped on top of it baked with different architecture

TBH, I don't find OnePlus 5's design "offensive", it still look sleek and great. Mostly importantly, it's minimal. Despite the slightly hike in price, you can't deny it's value there. It's one of the very few company that does near-stock android and have arguably the best OS-optimized phone in the industry.

Come back to the price though. If the OP5 launches at RM2.5k and above then S8 is really a way way way better choice currently at RM2,848.00 (at least in Malaysia). You get so much more by just topping up another RM300-500.

So many hoo haa about OP5 back design.

Who cares, really. Some even bought back casing even before the phone arrives & slap it on once they got the phone. No time to even look at the back of the phone. Looking the screen most of the time.

Question: Do you think the pricing of OP5 128GB will go lower than RM2.9K? I'm sure Direct D got hike up the price as it's still 'hot', but how low can it roughly go?

I'm using OPO and am considering either OP5 or P10 Plus - both are currently in the same price range now.

OP5 pros:
- Dash charging
- Vanilla Android, smooth giler
- 8GB RAM, probably will never lag
- dual-camera seems legit, pictures & portrait looks good

P10 Plus pros:
- Fast charging (probably not as fast as OP5)
- Leica dual-camera (monochrome mode is really sexy, not sure if the pictures are better than OP5? But better video cuz got stabilizer)

I can't decide which phone to go with. Main priority for me is good quality camera + long-term phone.

Same here. Was so keen on the OP5 but my eagerness is gone after watching reviews on YouTube.

Was so hoping for a super camera after reading about OP working together with the dxomark folks but the results are off-putting to say the least. Sigh I guess I really have to save up for the ip8 sad.gif

actually no. s8 was obliterated by ip7+ and beaten by op3t IIRC so it is interesting to see whether sd835 with stock android could at least match the highly optimized ip7+.

I understand your concerns.

Nexus 6 is using QHD screen and the battery life is awful AF laugh.gif
So full HD screen is a better choice for me lol laugh.gif

I consider myself as semi-power user. I root, flash custom ROMs and do all the mods on the phones, so I don't really mind about the OS updates cause custom ROMs always comes to the rescue. But that just's me thumbsup.gif

I was planning to buy the Tab S2 initially, but few custom ROM support, so end up didn't buy.

Like I mentioned earlier, if you have a old device on hand and you wish to buy OP5 (like a die hard fans and can't wait for the price to drop), I suggest you trade in your old device and get the OP5. Or else, you look around first before you pull the trigger.

To me, I wouldn't say it this way but rather Android is beaten by IOS. Until now, Android still loses out to IOS in terms of performance and fluidity. Though many may rebuke me for this but this is a known and admitted fact. The specs on the android phones way surpases the hardware on the latest Iphone 7+.

And the idle power drain, or what we call standby time? iOS really does it well.

I carry both ip6 (work phone) and a note 5 (personal phone), and the ip6 stands toe to toe if slightly better in battery life vs. my note 5 but loses in fluidity i.e. not as smooth.

Yes, for me ios 10.3 on iphone 6 is definitely not as smooth and speedy as android 7.0 on note 5, especially a note 5 with bloatware disabled (I don't use most of the Samsung ecosystem apps).

Take a look at the OP3T.
Launched at RM2299, but you can pick one up for about RM1.9k IIRC. AP set was at 1.7K
So I'm expecting 128GB version is at RM2.2-2.3k. Pretty good price if you ask me.

Actually no. Launch at 2299 but already sold at 1999 during Lazada sale. Now is 1777.

You can check lazada.

So I believe OP5 will be 1999 to 2099 during sales.

Would be good if any of you can do a comparison of mi 6 vs one plus 5. Especially the camera in low light condition.

So seems like claim working together with DxOMark to bring out the best camera just marketing ploy gimmick. Oneplus and overhype can't be separated. And the moment people questions them, they will said just "we're small company". Glad Xiaomi didn't use that kind of excuse.

Anyway still best bang for the bucks.

The negative reviews about the lack of ois and weak eis are really holding me back. Maybe it's true that we get what we pay for and there is much value in what Samsung and Apple do with their cams.

I'm tempted by the lean android experience of OP after being a Samsung user for so many years but I think I'll wait for some firmware updates before making my decision. Too caught up in the hype and got excited too early sad.gif

If camera is your concerns then get Samsung , Apple or Pixel ( LG if you like manual control). Others are kinda behind in image processing side unless you know what your doing. User also like their photos even though it's not really real to live photo sometimes. I don't think OP5 can even match the top flagship even with software update (maybe just a little improvement).

it was suppose to be a global version for all

i went to the shop that start selling AP set of OP5, then asked if the one they selling is global version or china version, they answered china version

china version come with hydrogen OS out of box, and i tested with webe sim card, it does not detect webe's 4G line

so better check properly, sometime kedai flash OOS to replace H2O

edit: most phone of china version does not detect webe 4G line, compared to global version of the phone, plus china version does not have many bands supported

and also look for variant number
A5000, A5003 and A5005

still a bit slower loading intensive stuff but at least faster than galaxy. the only gripe is, why did oneplus skimp on ois. it's as if they tested 4k recording and see the judder and then say "it's good enough, people will buy the gimbal anyway"

IMO, no one gonna blame them for being small. The problem is not that they have limited resources or something. The thing is they talk BIG and come out with some shady marketing techniques despite being small (if they really are). 2X optical zoom, benchmark cheating, not keeping promise for OP2 Nougat. Have you read their AMA on Reddit? They literally bypassed every single controversial question posted. Give stupid answer during interview as if the smartphone communities are retarded.

technically, they are under BBK roof... which in one article i read, is the 2nd largest phone manufacturer in the world. vivo and oppo also comes under BBK.

anyway, in another article i read, many components are "shared" with OPPO... so, not surprised if the same thing is actually on the R11.

My co used to under one big umbrella, at the end we have to withdraw from them for the sick of freedom n not sharing resources (we share to them yes, they share to us NO) .....

Under big name sometime doesn't bring any benefit when it ready to fly.

i am using galaxy s6 for two years. superb camera, super good screen, super nice build, good respond, good custom os with a lot unneeded features, limited radio band with 2CA only, fucked up battery life and super small screen.

so is OP5 a valid upgrade for me?

Like many chinaman company..number 4 is a no no. Maybe they dont want to be called flagship killer anymore and wants to be in the same league as other flagships. It's like a trend now releasing 2 main models in a year(ie samsung,iphone)

Wow, that statement is hard on those OP5 owner, screen issue (yellow tint, jelly and else) will become major issue because we see the screen to use the phone, all the time. RIP Oneplus.

Oh well, it's expected that they inverted the screen orientation as I saw the same jelly scrolling effect (but not so obvious) when I'm using my OP3T upside down

the XDA link above... there should be a video showing how the jelly effect looks like.

it seems that this can randomly happen and OnePlus seems to have indicated that OTA won't fix this issue (if you have that on your phone).

i guess now depends on whether Brightstar will allow ppl to change if their unit have this.

but i guess you can say this is a special scroll animation... smile.gif

Confirmed scammer. It's in Miri Bintang Megamall right? They used the same trick when the S8 was released. Using DirectD pics and lured the victims. After a few investigations by the forumers, most likely it's aromachong, who was a famous scammer in the forum last year.

Looks like those scammers are keep using the same old tactic to scam the people. I guess the same thing will appear again when Note 8 & iPhone 8 come out soon.

Saw someone commented on the WiFi and LTE issue. OP5 macam can't get full speed on WiFi..... (https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/bad-wifi-with-the-oneplus-5.554403/).

I'm having 2nd thoughts now lol.

So far the issues on OP5 that I know:
- Jelly scrolling (won't be fixed)
- WiFi (probably can be fixed via OTA, or from wat ppl say, forced 5Ghz will do)

True...was the next option for stock Android after Google ditch Nexus & become expensive with Pixel. Now stock Android is expensive to own...can't spend 2k+ on smartphones.

Enjoying my better than stock Android on 500 buck phone now. Hell daym I'm impressed how good is Snapdragon 650 without bloated rom

Nice...I'm to lazy to flash custom rom now. Some phone don't have many custom rom community also like my Mi4S. Now on V20 and I can say skin android have improved alot.

Still miss stock android from the days owning Nexus. bye.gif
Wonder if this year they release cheap Pixel or not according to the rumors.

From what I test out.. current 7.1.2 rom really Rock solid and silky smooth. Even LG UI on Snapdragon 821 feel abit slower
