1) The design language: When I saw the leaked render for the first time, I LOL for a while but I don’t care about it anyway. It happens when I saw Nexus 6 leaked render for the first time. It is an enlarged version of Moto X. Anyway, I still buy the Nexus 6 and still using it till now. In summary, the appearance has 0 effects on me.

2) The software: This is the biggest reasons why I still love OnePlus after Nexus/Pixel series. OnePlus is running Oxygen OS which is heavily based on AOSP/near to Stock Android experience. My mum is using OG Moto X and she loved it and said this is one of best smart phone experiences that she ever used after comparing with her friend’s XXX brand smart phone. As for my dad, he is using Nexus 5 and he said he feel glad that he pull the right trigger because he saw his friend having issue with XYZ brand of smart phone having problem with user experience. NOTE: both my parents are over 60 years old. As for me, I can simply alter the OS in a minimal way such as installing TWRP and root the phone just to block Ads (makes my parent’s daily usage easier)

3) Camera: I am not a pro user when comes to using smart phone camera to take pictures as I will insists on using digital camera. However, I would say the OP5 camera is good enough for Point-And-Shoot purpose. Lacking of OIS and 4K video stabilization almost no effect on me.

4) Pricing: I have to say that now days the cost of the raw materials to manufacture a smart phone has increased. Everything has to increase in order to maintain the operation. I have watched the video posted by JerryRigEverything. Inside the video, he demonstrated the durability of Ceramic made Finger Print scanner, the metal build back cover, and etc. All these materials are costly thus; I don’t find it surprise that OnePlus has increased the price for OP5.

5) Lack of features: Some people find it a turn off when OP5 lack of wireless charging, IP67 and etc. My Nexus 6 and Nexus 7 2013 comes with wireless charging and I never use it before. So I am not bothered with it. As for IP67, I find it is it a marketing gimmick. I seen cases where the IP67 certified phone has issue with the camera lens become blurry due to vapor, speaker become muffled and etc. I love my device and I will not do anything dangerous that will harm it.

6) Local availability/pricing: I have seen a lot of people bashing DirectD and 1Gadget selling at high price. I say it is reasonable because they have to bear the one year warranty and this will cost them. Same goes to the Brightstar if they bring in the official set. Like the old saying, the first one who steps into the enemy shore will be consider as the bravest man and deserved the titled as the bravest man. Besides that, warranty and after sales support will be easier compared to Lazada where you never know how your smart phone will be headed to during warranty claim.
