Its advisable to always check the phone bill. I always check it before making any payment to avoid any issues. If after payment, they will less hope to get back money if got any issues.

My dad is paying like 1k+++ a month stating we use their provider (macrok sms, mtouche sms, mobile365 sms) WTH!! soo angry.. we're charge RM10 & RM5 per sms every few seconds, minutes, daysss! sad.gif Someone out there please help us sad.gif

We've already made complaint but to no avail sad.gif

This is our complaint letter to Maxis after much talking to them on the Phone, etc.

Dear Sir,
You have not looked into my complaint about your maxis computer system. It is unbelievable for me to incurred a sum of RM1,669.30 on your external provider services.

Firstly.
My instruction to terminate all these external provider services in late Sept 2010 was done in front of me at Sunway Pyramid centre and I have requested them to print out the Aug & Sept 2010 statements from their printer. They assured me that the external providers services are cancelled with immediate effect. I am puzzled, that it is not recorded in your system.

Secondly.
Again, on 2nd Dec 2010, I called up to Maxis to terminate the external providers services with immediate effect. Again, your Maxis staff assured me that it is cancelled. Again, when I received the Dec statement I was billed another RM285.00

Kindly, look into my 5 months bills from 21/8/10 -- 21/12/10. Look into the number of SMS in the Statement. Look into all my past statements before 21/8/10 and you will know that 012-2975162 hardly incurred much on his bill. This explain that I will never spent so much for my mobile phone bill.

By the way, what are all these SMS about? From the statement, I noticed some SMS sent every few seconds. Certaintly I will not request such expensive SMS. Please , look into these immediately. I could ill afford to continue paying your bill. Maybe, I will have to terminate Maxis service after being loyal to them for more than 10 years.

Look into my complaint letter again dated 24 Dec 2010. I am really disappointed with your investigation. I feel victimised.

Sincerely, Xxxxx

Dear Mr. xxxxxx,

Please accept our sincere apologies on our delay respond.

Reference is made to your recent telephone conversation with our Contact Centre personnel pertaining to the External Content Provider (ECP).

Our investigation together with the External Content Provider Macro Kiosk Berhad, Sybase Software (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, and Mobile Touchetek Sdn Bhd indicates that Maxis Mobile number 012-xxxxxxx had subscribed to their services.

Appended below are the content details for your perusal.

We would like to reaffirm that the charges reflecting in your bill statement are indeed valid. In line with the above, we regret to inform you that we are unable to accede to any request for waiver on the ECP charges.

Hope the above clarifies. Should you need further assistance, please contact us at 123 from Maxis mobile line or 1800 821 123.

Dear Sir,
I refer to the above mentioned subject.
I did not give any consent to Maxis for any of these external providers service.

I went online in Sept to check my statements for Aug & Sept 2010 and discovered
the unsolicited SMS

I went to the Maxis center in Sunway Pyramid to lodge a complaint in late Sept. I told them that I do not want any of their SMS.
And I asked them to cancel their service immediately which they did and confirmed.

I went online again on 2 Dec to check my statement for Oct & Nov 2010. I was shocked to note the on going
unsolicited SMS.
Immediately, I call up Maxis for an explanation. They told me there is no record in their system on the cancellation. How could it be?

Late Sept ,I went to the Maxis center in Sunway Pyramid to lodge a complaint and they did the cancellation right away and confirmed it right in front of me.
I even have them printed out the Aug and Sept statements. I am sure you will be able to verify the printout is from your printer in the center.
They told me that it is beyond Maxis control and they will cancel the service again for me. That was on 2 Dec 2010.
They told me that since I am a loyal and long time customer with Maxis, the best they can do is to give me a goodwill rebate of RM250

The problem did not stop at 2 Dec 2010. I called up on the 22 Dec to confirm whether the cancellation is in the system. They told me that it is in their system.

The following day 23 Dec 2010, I went online to check the Dec statement. I couldn't believe it. The cancellation did not stop at 2 Dec 2010.
I was still charged RM120 from 2 Dec to 16 Dec 2010. Your goodwill rebate of RM250 doesn't make sense.

The unsolicited SMS charged to my account is as followed:
Statement
21/8/10 RM420.00
21/9/10 RM320.50
21/10/10 RM408.80
21/11/10 RM235.00
21/12/10 RM285.00
TOTAL RM1,669.30

Kindly look into the matter and revert to as soon as possible.

Sincerely,
xxxxxx

You have some sort of proof that you asked Maxis to terminate all those services in Sept?

Another way is to call their customer service directly and demand that those services be terminated and ask about how to terminated said services from your side as well.

I believe there's an MCMC ruling about needing to include a line in your subscription sms on how to terminate those services. Usually, as one member posted above, STOP ALL works.

My reply to another forumer.

QUOTE
After my own experience with maxis earlier which i documented on the forum, my mum also encountered the exorbitant ECP charges.

This is the course of action that I took:

First go to the maxis centre and complain. Throw a tantrum. Cause a scene. Make sure everyone there can hear you. Do not be ashamed. do not let them get away with charging you anymore. More often than not, a few of the other people sitting there are also facing the same RM5 SMSes ECP Crap. Gang up.

DEMAND that all the charges are reversed or you are moving your account to another telco. And you would be forwarding this issue to the MCMC.

They at maxis will tell you that they are not responsible for charging you for those ECP SMSes, to which my response would be, "In that case, why should i pay maxis then since it is these ECPs i owe the service to." They would then ask you to contact these ECPs. I asked them to give me their contact numbers. Then and there i made a call to MacroK. It was some automatic voice answering crap. Then i complained to maxis how does one get in contact when nobody picks up. and they would give you a separate number to call. I called and one guy answered. I asked him to reverse all the charges, he said they will stop FUTURE SMSes but cannot reverse the payments. i asked for his name (i cannot remember what his name is now) and said that i would like to quote him in my report to MCMC. He gave me his email and asked me to forward scanned maxis bills to him and he would look into the matter. I NEVER heard from him.

In the end. I still owed MAXIS RM300+ worth of ECP crap. I refused to pay. Maxis terminated her phone services but CONTINUED to charge the RM30 month fees.  Do not be afraid. IGNORE it. They would then send threatening letters from supposed debt collection co. (from fancy legal sounding company names like Ibrahim & co. etc). IGNORE THESE LETTERS. They would continue sending more letters and ALSO call your home phone, other mobile phone contact etc to threaten you to pay. IGNORE. [It is at this point, that you use your discretion to abuse them verbally. I did smile.gif ]

In the end, after months of harassing letters and phone calls, Maxis gave up smile.gif

You should make a copy of your dad's bill, and send it to MCMC, CC to maxis.

ECP preys on the UN-technically savvy people. and the MCMC is useless. My advice is DON'T PAY. Maxis can threaten, but they don't go through with it. Hold your ground.

I posted it here for the benefit of those also facing the same nonchalant response from Maxis.

The idiotic brothers of MacroK can buy BMW thanks to their conman strategies, win awards and give themselves a pat on the back.

Was wondering why my phone gets barred on a monthly basis, paying RM400-RM500 yet still getting barred. These conman really getting easy money.

What goes around comes around.
Hope something terrible happens to them and their family.

Today got email from their Customer Support asking for the itemized bills.

I'm glad that there are such thread in lowyat.net to raise awareness to the public about MacroK and their unscrupulous way of doing business. Their SMSes and charges in my phone bill is getting on my nerve lately. I'm a bit surprised that after 7 years (from the date of first post of this thread), despite all the complaints to TELCOs and MCMC their business is still thriving!

Anyway, here's my story, I've got charge for ECP SMSs from MacroK on my MAXIS supp line (used by my mom-in-law) a few months back (ranging from RM10 to RM35 a month). I was caught by surprise by these charges as there was no way my MIL will subscribed to their service.

After I got charged for the second month, I called up Maxis and ask them about the service that we did not subscribe to. Though they are willing to reverse the charges and unsubscribe me from MacroK's services, their explanation is blatant BS. They told me that the user of the affected number, my MIL may have accidentally clicked on subscription links on the Internet to have cause us being charged. I can't accept this explanation because of two reasons:

1) It is unlawful to subscribe a user to a service WITHOUT them being aware that they will be charged through phone bill and to what service they are receiving. Moreover, this is just with a click of an URL link on the Internet.

2) My MIL doesn't even have GPRS service and there is no WIFI feature on her phone!!!!

This proved that MAXIS customer service (officers) are only trained to tell you cock and bull stories of your problem, hoping that you will drop your complaint and move on.

However, when the next bill came, the MacroK charges was reversed and I decided to put the matter to rest and believe that MAXIS has really unsubscribe us from MacroK services. But then, in June this year about two month later, the charges appeared again on my bill. Infuriated at MAXIS' empty promises, I've decided to raise the matter to MCMC via their online form at their website. On the next day I receive a call from an MCMC officer asking for a copy of my bill, I'd say this kind of service is too quick for a government agency, which I'm glad about. It was just yesterday that, I received an email from MCMC saying that they have sent a formal mail to Maxis demanding for their explanation and reply within 2 weeks.

So now, I'm waiting for a reply from Maxis and it better be good! mad.gif

Hi Kilmal,

Any solutions given to you after your complaint to SKMM (MCMC)? I've lodge mine to SKMM and seems like Maxis is quick to come back to me after that. However, The officer in Maxis handling my complaint are insisting that I have subscribed to their service by sending "WP" to 33370 on 12 June and claimed that the charges is valid. I've check my phone and found that there were no record of "WP" being sent to 33370. Instead, there was a message from 33370 saying that "my subscription has been renewed" and I was like WTF! How can the Maxis officer tell me that I've subscribed to the service by SMS reply while the message, supposedly automatically generated telling me that the subscription to their stupid content is renewed on the same date?! Then when was the first subscription done?!! I've just sent off an email reply with proof of SMS received back to Maxis and now awaiting their reply. They better give me a good answer and resolve this once and for all else, I'm going back to SKMM and pound harder!
