Long time no post in here already.
Adding this new toy to my makita family of tools. A 40v blower.
The handheld blower I use for PC cleaning keep dying due to battery issue. So decide to spend more to get a good blower and be done with it.

Tools from 40V and 40Vx2 family are equal power to normal AC power now. Especially the vacuum cleaner.

The blower look like a drill.

You need to keep pressing the trigger while working?

Their is a buttom on the side, press it and it will hold the trigger to continue blowing.
very nice to blow the dust in my PC and mining rigs. No need to pull the compressor out from the storeroom.

Just a counter point to consider.....

I wanted an air compressor to put in the car and wanted to get the Milwaukee M12 compressor (because I already have the batteries) In the end I decided not to as it would tie up a battery in the car, and there would be a worry of the battery going flat, heat damage to the battery, etc. In the end I got a Xiaomi corded air compressor (~RM 160) that I can safely keep in the car, always ready to plug into the car 12V, and works perfectly.

Maybe you really, really need the portability, and there is a use for the battery air compressor that I am not utilizing, but I am happy that I have the corded Xiaomi along with my car all the time. In the house I have a 2 HP air compressor anyway. So, just sharing my experience, YMMW.

Xiaomi corded air compressor?

I have the Xiaomi battery run mini compressor always in the car. Small enough to keep in the boot.

But the air flow is small and battery time is not that long. Good enough to top up the pressure or 1-2 tire total flat.

That is good. At least not handicapped working.

I don't like blower but vacuum to clean at home. If need a blower, I bring the thing to the office and use the 5hp compressor to clean it.

My very old cord Dremel (18yrs old) getting less power and torque. Heat up very fast when heavy duty.

Brought the latest model 8260 from US Ebay. More power and have blutooth. But not user-friendly for the hand grip. Big diameter. Prefer Dremel Micro.

Lucky is able to ship over with the battery. All shipping doesn't allow powertools with batteries.

Battery is compatible with the Bosch 12v series. But only Dremel batteries have the 3.0Ah capacity.

It used to be RM169, now gone up to RM189. I figure the car already has a battery, so having another battery in the pump is redundant. After all, if the car battery is flat, then I'm not going to be worried about the flat tyre just yet laugh.gif

For final backup, I also have a manual pump (Mr DIY bicycle pump, about RM 12) and one of those canned tyre inflators. And some tyre plugs.

I drive into construction sites sometimes, and a flat tyre is simple to fix, yet stops further travels should it happen.

is it easy to drill the wall tiles without being cracked?

i am planning to slow drill it then change to hammer drill at the end but should i spray some water while drilling?

I just use Bosch GSB 550 Professional Impact Drill with the included masonry drill bit to punch a hole in the wall tiles (ceramic)...no issue with the correct method... make sure to place masking tape on the slippery tiles to help direct the opening

My concern right now is the hidden pipe behind the tiles. Planning to drill a hole above basin to put mirror

Based on water valves, drains, and inlets on the wall, I'm only guessing where the pipes might be.

I've never used a cordless drill before, but the GSB 120 is capable of drilling masonry and tiles, so it should be good. If you are uncertain about the method, you can look up how to drill on tiles on YouTube. Make sure to use the sharpest masonry drill bit you can find. The masonry drill bit that comes with the Bosch drill can do the job as well.

The Bosch model code indicates the function; the one with a hammer function appropriate for masonry drilling is marked GSB; otherwise, it is simply GSR.

The GSB 120's chuck can only accept drill bits up to 10 millimeters in diameter, and I'm not sure if it will accept a 10mm drill bit for masonry drilling.

ah..yeah.. while waiting to send for the glass to be cut. we were testing the template using plywood to get the right dimensions. and also get a feel of a solid plywood panelling if we didnt use glass. perhaps useful for indoor dividers using this style window.

To assist you to guesstimate before drilling, there is a picture from this Loywat forum post of how the water pipes are laid out in the wall... I assume every house design has the same layout!

The way the drain conduit is spread out in the picture below is the one that concerns me the most if you decide to drill the floor in the future. Remember to fill the gap with silicone sealant if it is in a wet area to prevent water seeps into the floor concrete base (the area must be dust-free and dry first before applying the sealant).

i think to be safe is to drill a bit sideway than right in the middle.

edited - been advised that the piping route is under the basin so no issue if drill above the basin smile.gif

Long time no update on Makita power tools so I go youtube search for what 40V system makita has.
Then see this makita 40v microwave, and I tot makita coffee maker is already wierd enough. laugh.gif

Those 40v and 40vx2 system is starting to go into the power of AC tools liao. In Japan their standard AC voltage is 100v?
When makita will make 40v AC inveter? I think Dewalt has it.

Below RM1K, I would consider. Wonder can modify to run on DIY li-ion battery.

Great for outdoor.
