Because it is Bosch  laugh.gif

If I were you, I'd just go for Stanley simply for its warranty alone. Price wise is negligible.

These are same company
Dewalt - 3 year warranty
Stanley - 2 year warranty
Black and Decker - 1 year warranty

As far as I know the Bosch for this price range, the motor is not something special. Looks like it is using internal brush just like the Stanley. Although the this Bosch is supposed to be at same level as the Dewalt (I think), but I saw Stanley cordless drill even beat Dewalt in drill comparison  laugh.gif

BOSCH has many grades

always go for bosch professional

bosch is pretty good at making drills. they are one of the best in the industry.

stanley dewalt & B&D are the same company. LOL

"DeWalt (trademarked as DᴇWALT) is an American worldwide brand of power tools and hand tools for the construction, manufacturing and woodworking industries. DeWalt is a trade name of Black & Decker (U.S.) Inc., a subsidiary of Stanley Black & Decker."

As I was saying I needed a 4mm SDS bit and getting one is difficult. But I do have a SDS chuck with an ordinary round masonry bit and so I used that but drilling thru concrete was much harder. I’m just wondering why it doesn’t hammer that well ? I guess a chuck does not perform the same as a stand-alone bit?
*
SDS chuck mean for concrete drilling.

3 jaw chuck mean for metal and wood drilling.

So if mix using, got pros and cons la.

I believe that branded one starts from 5mm. Only China made can go below 5mm  laugh.gif

Just need to find local supplier that sell China made  laugh.gif

Bosch SDS Plus 1 has 4mm bit. but it's made in china. it's cheap because it's not that good.

edit: found S4L 4mm bit. made in germany

Yes but the that Bosch model is still pro (right) but lower end.

That is what I meant, those 3 brands belong to same company.

yes, u are correct.

anyhow, always go n get brushless motor. they are light, powerful, and use less battery.

if u see my bosch bulldog cordless rotary hammer drill, u will cry. LOL. it's abused to the max, fell down 1 storey high few times, and it still works flawlessly. the best investment so far. perhaps sudah drill > 500 holes in reiforced concrete slabs

1x 4ah batt pack can drill 30 - 40 holes easily

For occasional use and home DIY (like me), I'd still go for Stanley. I have Bosch, Stanley, Makita, Dewalt. biggrin.gif

For home dyi, it is better to use bosch as you need long term parts available due to low wear and tear.

The only reason you would buy that Bosch over Stanley if you're planning to buy another Bosch 12V tools.

er... there are some pretty useful 12V tools

i have both 18V & 12V.

the best 12V tool that is indispensable? BOSH GWS 12V-76EC. very compact and very capable grinder.

I meant to say was that for 12V tool, it does matter what brand that much (in my opinion). For higher power tool, then you might want to stick to your favorite brand so that you can share the battery usage.

I saw a GSB 180 LI (w batt and charger) at RM330 Shopee link
The bare tool is RM190 only but you will need to source a charger + 18V battery (IMO the set is cheaper to start out with) Shopee link bare tool (SOLO)

GSB =/= GSR
Easy way to remember, GSB can Bang wall (got impact)
GSR can Reverse, no impact

The 18V batteries are interchangeable within all the bosch 18V tools. Of course some tools will recommend a bigger battery for heavy duty usage but it'll still work.
Cordless tools, the brand (i.e. the battery system) is the one you are investing in.
The tools are cheap, but the bigger batteries cost more. The cordless rotary hammer GBH 180-Li cost me only RM399.15 (excluding battery and charger)

True that. I invested in bosch 18V system because my place has hard concrete walls.
So far I have the GBH-180LI rotary hammer and ordered a GSB-180 screwdriver (coming soon for screwing the kitchen cabinet).

12V tool the advantage is lighter tool

to be honest with you, i kinda regret investing in BOSCH 18V system... because they have very very limited range of tools

unlike MILWAUKEE or MAKITA

soo wide the range of tools provided

makita is the most versatile, with coffee maker, powered wheel barrow, portable fan, grass cutter... etc etc

Makita tools cheap or comparable with bosch for the cordless drill driver..
But the battery and charger macam more expensive
For first time cordless tool investor it didn't make economic sense to me, so I kinda got stuck with bosch 18V

Although I saw that makita got coffee maker and powerbank that runs off the battery (MAKITA ADP05 BATTERY ADAPTER FOR USB 18V (C/W 2PORT) PHONE CHARGER POWERBANK)
Unfortunately didnt see any cheap bosch battery to makita tool adapter. The other way got (makita battery to run bosch tool) but kinda hampered a conversion to use the makita powerbank lol

I think it also depends on how many cordless tools you'd need as well. Me I think I dont need much more than the cordless rotary hammer and impact drill driver;
maybe add the LED light or impact wrench (nice to have but pricey over long iron pipe to open tyre nuts for self rotation every half year).. maybe useful for jacking up the vehicle using the scissor jack but then again, nice to have rclxm9.gif

Better to get real power bank. For RM40 you can get decent and compact power bank.

By using the battery to charge your phone. You already reduce the battery lifecycle / life span. Battery not cheap, neither the adapter.

Hi experts. I have a GSR120-Li. Lovely tool to assemble IKEA purchases and online purchase self assembly furnitures.

I need to do some DIY in the house, drilling walls and concretes. Mainly between tiles in bathroom to hang racks up, and also concrete wall to install blinds. As I want to save money, a corded tool is fine (I’ve got a heavy duty 5M extension cord).

Recommendations and bits to get?
Also my GSR120-Li only came with Philips and flat head drivers. Any affordable yet durable kit out there?

For drill bits, just buy any generic cheap one will do. The GSR will not able to harm the bits anyway. You probably can only drill wood and aluminium with GSR.

A corded drill with hammer around RM400 will fulfil most drill you need for self DIY. If you want cheaper, there is also tons of china brand.

Any kit of screw bits from any DIY will do.

You would want to have long bit as well since sometime you need to reach deep and it is impossible to do with big chuck head smile.gif
