Hi guys, been wondering that these days new deco all comes with HomeShield subscription instead of previously old one with Trend Micro.

However, the Deco now also can use VPN which i think most VPN now also comes with Antivirus function? (Please educate me cause i rarely use VPN)

The deco right now offer the annual price of RM174.99 for Security+ and RM359.99 for total security package (I havent used my trial 30 days though)

Currently my parents house using X20 which comes with HomeCare (Trend Micro) and everyday i see their phone has those blocked Scam, Spam, Phishing bla bla till i headache =.=

Go for VPN or HomeShield? Or just stick to HomeCare since it's free

The VPN is a feature built in into the deco firmware itself. The subscription is mainly for its homeshield functions and security functions like antivirus and filtering.

VPN itself can be manually set if you have NordVPN, Surfshark and another few.

Hi guys, I have 2 pcs of x50 for my 2400 sqft house, one upstairs one downstairs, so far it’s good enough. However for my cctv require lan cable and it’s very disgusting to pull cable over, coz the position of my downstairs mesh is near entrance, quite distant from my tv+cctv dvr, about 20-25ft apart.

Should I get another x50 or two? Will having 4 be overkilling or impacting performance? The price for two pack is worth more than single.

Get another unit of Deco X50 and connect it to your DVR.

But just bear in mind DVR consumes a ton of bandwidth and might cause congestion to the mesh backhaul.

They have it but not for sale direct for consumer

Even that D-Link model is only sold to ISPs

Ok, my thought was using 4th one LAN to my working laptop and gaming pc. But so far using wifi is good enough.

Even if it’s not used, it’ll consume bandwidth? As in, not streaming it, just recording to storage without internet connectivity.

You can actually use your old fiber modem. It's still able to function.

You will have to test it. Some CCTV DVRs are known to broadcast non-stop on the network.

You upgraded from what speed to what speed?
How much extra you need to pay per month?

Price remain within RM 300 with many premium hypptv channel included in reality don't often watch punya because no time and mostly Senior use TV and me mostly watch Netflix, prime, Disney, apple in room with my wife... Only subscribe 1 or 2 at a time if there is something i or her want to watch or got time to watch

From 800mb foc upgrade to 1gb that the reason i received this upcar all in one solution device

During tm unifi 1st release already subscribe the most atas package then keep receiving free upgrade until now except that 2gb things i didn't received/or call and/for subscribe 😂

Thinking to change package but kirax2 the price seem like no difference last time, maybe got time will try call cs or check any good deal or not because 1gb also seem like too much i mean at my shop and wife shop 300mb already very sufficient so i think 1gb for my house is overkill 😂

Edit
I think is ruby something pack for the hypptv channels thing

Yea, i know the VPN is built in but does login/register the VPN account inside the router provide the Antivirus kah ?

Or i still need to use the VPN on each devices later in order to have the "antivirus" feature?

Else just subscribe the HomeShield to protect the home network (well, going outside of house won't protected)

The VPN can be set for individual devices or the entire network through Deco app.

Meanwhile antivirus is for the entire network.

I dont think logging into the VPN will provide antivirus, as I didnt notice anything about it in the settings.

i think mine is not non-stop. bought another unit of x50, and got it working

on the deco app there's no activity, 0kbps down and up when not in used

anyway thanks, doesnt really impact my day to day usage. all good now.. got it at huge discount. +/- RM280 for one unit.

UNIFI is coming to replace the Modem Router. Currently I am using the White Color Huawei Modem. Should I change?

Take the new unit, once they are gone, install back your old unit

Keep the new one as spare

They just passed to me in sealed box. Told them I will self install. smile.gif
So Huawei Modem is better than the D-Link ax3000 as modem. Correct?

Hi sifu,
Previously on 500mb, I can get full speed on WiFi when speedtest next to my WiFi router. After upgraded to 1gb. The max I can get is 860mb next to my router. Should I expect to get 1000mb next to my router? Thanks.
