Hmm.. been using Dlink Unifi Default AC1200 router since day 1 from August 2018.

Thinking to replace it and here's my current unifi plan: 100mbps (RM129 package)

I'm actually wanna get the high end right now which is TP Link X20 Mesh (3 packs) for future proof

Is it overkill right now ? My house is single storey semi detach

Hello, if your house have thick walls then won't be overkill.
You're using 100Mbps? How big is your house?

Thanks.
*
House size roughly 500 square foot

My router is in living room which actually not in the center of the house.
Am currently using a TP Link RE450 extender combo router.

Between master room and living actually got thick wall like 4 layer with 2 toilets and one bedroom.

Actually struggling wanna upgrade Mesh AC or AX at first but AX seems better currently and who knows i might upgrade my Unifi Plan in future? sweat.gif

My current plan is buy the 3 pack X20 and only use 2 units

The last unit i pasang to my parent house combo with my current extender, Possible?

Hello, you need an extender to cover the whole house?

In that case, you may get the Mesh as your current plan.
Are you having Wireless AX aka Wi-Fi 6 devices with you?
For future proof, Wireless AX is recommended if you wish to upgrade in the future.
If no planning to upgrade, Deco M9 Plus will be sufficient.

Planning to use 2 units only? Not sure when TP-Link will launch the two pack version.
Maybe in a few months or next year perhaps. If you can wait or ask TP-Link when they will release the two pack version. You can use 3 units to cover the whole unit.

Thanks.

Thanks for the fast reply
Yea, my house is something like a rectangle style

Attached Image

If you see the red zone, those are kinda dead zone for 5Ghz wifi already which then it will switch to 2.4Ghz automatically
Troublesome later if i go back to living room, i have to manual switch to 5Ghz if i remember.

Right now i pasang an Extender in the Mid there to extend (But dang additional SSID sweat.gif )

But is it worth the price right now for X20 (3packs) which is RM1,299 ?

Additional reply: Currently only 2 devices with WiFi 6 at home but i have like 20+ devices connection already as well.

As long as you have WiFi 6 devices then you are good to choose Wireless AX.

20+ devices. Should be compatible as this Deco X20 can connect up to 150 devices from online.

Thanks

Thanks. But price wise ?

Probably will opt for instalments 12 month, lol ..

Received my TP-Link Deco x20 yesterday and done setup 2 biji

But right now i have 2 issues which are related:

1) I cannot use the 2nd Ethernet port for other device such as PS4 for Lan connection as it has been SOLELY enabled for IPTV/VLAN.

2) How to disable properly for IPTV/VLAN as i do not use HyppTV? If i disable it, my internet connection will also stopped, it has to be enabled sad.gif

Wanna ask...is it complicated to set up? Thinking of getting one as my house is around 4600 sq ft. The killer is the room...maybe wall and wooden door too thick Liao! Thanks

i only received it yesterday haha..

So i cant really make recommendation yet since still need testing.

Setup wise, super easy using the Deco App in phone or you can follow blacktubi site

Hmm I'm using Deco X20 right now and every devices working good with it which can connect their best connection which is 5ghz and 2.4ghz for those smart accessories.

However, my desktop which using TP-Link Archer T9UH can only connect to the Deco using 2.4ghz. No matter how near i place it beside the Deco.

Under the device properties, i cannot force change it to use the 5ghz band also, that option totally gone under "advanced tab".

Note: I havent tried the 2.4ghz disable in deco method though which will be my last resort.

Set guest network to 5ghz and connect your desktop to it?

Yea, will try it tonight.

But it's weird that why only this device will auto connect to 2.4ghz when it has better option hmm.gif

TP-LINK MY
Deco X20 single node VS AX20 router. Which has stronger transmit/receive power? Or it's the same?
*
In price term, AX20 definitely more benefit biggrin.gif

But power wise, i think still AX20 compare to single node since Deco X20 only 1 Ethernet port which is kinda let down.

WiFi signal, i cant really tell the difference since both reach good signal for me using 100mbps.

Buying single X20 = 2 units of AX20 sweat.gif

I need TongCN to review this I recommended this product to him.

Thanks.

Currently i'm using:
Unifi plan - 100mbps package @ RM129
Router mode - TP-Link Deco X20 3 packs
BlackTubi Review and setup: https://www.blacktubi.com/review/tp-link-deco-x20/

I think i have been using for almost 2 months d.
After day 1 first setup until now, no issue at all.
Everything works fine and smooth with just an app.

Previously my old router will give me buffering whenever i fast forward youtube by 10 seconds (looking at the circle for like 1~5 seconds)
After changing new one, not happening already.

Only query i have right now is regarding on the Home Care:

There's once i visit mangareader website using my office laptop and office Symantec antivirus blocked something like the ad-ware.
Then my phone also pop out notification from the Deco App at the same time regarding 2 attacks has been blocked.

Now my question is why is it my office laptop anti virus (second layer) will still detect ad-ware when my Deco end (the first layer) has been mentioned "BLOCK" ? sweat.gif

thanks for the input bro, much appreciated.

one question - does the deco can work with 1 pack or need more than 2?

estimated size 1200sqft, time fibre 500mbps plan

plan for deco x20 in view of wifi 6 features.
tqvm

The good thing of this Deco X20 is it actually can work individually smile.gif
Not like others product i've seen is one main 2 slaves.

The only downside is this model only dual band and wireless backhaul
You can opt for wired backhaul though actually if u have good ethernet layout in your house.

WiFi 6 i really cannot give comment as currently i only have both ipad pro 2020 and iphone 11 which support wifi 6 and to be honest, i don't feel any different XD

What are the devices (timeline or OS) actually cannot talk to router?

Hi, Mr Cannavaro.

Thanks for replying. Actually i did enter the PPOE username and password, i follow the steps by steps installation guide by Mr Blacktubi but still unable get it to work.

I have actually log a request to TPlink for help (TPLINK SUPPORT #350664) since Jan 2020, but have never hear from them, even now post in their official thread also

didn't seem to get response.

It is quite a frustration to have a mesh system but need to use it as an wifi extender due to setting problem.  sad.gif

Did you pick the unifi profile under Deco App?

So yesterday i turned on my X20 WPA3 security mode and most of my house devices all support except the sound bar which is Year 2020 model by Samsung - Q950T ?? confused.gif

My samsung TV is 2018 model and it still can support sad.gif

So far right now X20 doesnt support WPA3/WPA2 Mix mode , right?

TP Link WPA3 - You’ll need to set the security mode of TP-Link WPA3 products to WPA3/WPA2-MIX mode to simultaneously transfer data to WPA2 clients and WPA3 clients
