It's weird really, I came to that conclusion because in my toilet, no such thing as oily surface.. whereas my display tank outside always get 1.. (I dont use any surface skimmers-except for the marine tank lol.)

i tot is the protein layer release by plants during photosintesis???
rySse,
buy a surface skimmer will do the job...
for the background plant...
those area that my background plants already grow, and the glass there got algae (GSA), i just leave it, as it won be visible cause already block by plants...
those area that plants cannot cover, i do clean them
*
if agitate the water surface more, the layer of protein will go off as well... well, not as efficient as using surface skimmer la... it is recommended to clean away the layer of oil as it will soon lead to algae bloom...

From what I've seen from Taiwan forum, once the eco-system become good, oil layer will automatically disappear because it's been clear by those good bacteria. It did happen to my tank now, no surface skimmer, no fish, only plants but no more oil issue after half year the tank been setup.

Definitely buying a solenoid to go with your c02 tank is better.. What you pay is what you get in aquatics..

rinse ur filter sponge in ur aquarium water when u do water change... do not rinse ur filter sponge in running tap water as it will kill all of the bacteria and contaminated with chlorine...

You mean like Diamond or nesh? those are usable.. or you mean you have a gigantic rocket filter at home?? Or RO/DI??

Any of these work IMHO.

Hi all, I'm in a dilemma choosing below two tanks, please give some advise
1. W300mm x L450mm x H300mm
2. W300mm x L300mm x H450mm

Height is better or length is better?

hi there,
meaning ur tank will be 1ft width?
30 x 45 x 30cm?
if really 1ft tank, i will go for length rather than height.
