Tried JBL, Ototto, not really good. According to a friend, Seachem pretty good but must use a lot, Sera he said useless, Azoo also useless.

At the end I used PMDD + Azoo root fertlizer.

I used to have a 2ft tank with no filter but 1 x philip 18w light and air pump only, keeping moss and drift wood inside, moss grow very well and guppy do well too.

Too much light will cause algae bloom, too less lighting will cause algae bloom as well if balance are wrong like fertilizer, filtration, etc.

erm..catacomb bro, "small" i mean is not stones. i mean if you wanna go buy another wood, buy a smaller one. there's another type of wood beside bogwood and normally doesnt comes cheap. but you can buy the small size one like ranting2 size. the just cost around RM5-10 normally each. And for the stone you said want kutip from roadside, errr.. unless you know what is that stones and check for their alkalinity/acidity, then i hardly suggest you kutip em and put in your tank. they'll affect your water parameter and worst, even can make your fauna died overnight sometimes.  nod.gif

yes, normally LFS will sell by kilos. RM4/kg is consider cheap price in fact (but im not sure what stones are you referring to anyway). ah, that's not the point. normallyy, we bought a big one, and then use hammer and a pick, and break em to smaller pieces. or..u can always hire those indonesian workers in construction site to help break em with their freaking big hammer (i never do this before...just came up on my mind tho). whistling.gif

for the plants, hmm... ya i can say not many LFS carrying plants for aquascapers. i also used to have a hard time too to find em. where do u stay? if around KL/Selangor i can help you with my shot paper list of "place-to-go-to-do-shopping"  biggrin.gif LOL~!

p/s : btw, dun say ur DW not nice. for me, every nature is nice. just play around with it and eventually you'll know what to do with it. but it;s always good to have options  wink.gif

@nezumitaro

seriously, im a newbie in this hobby too. but sure I'll share whatever i know with my extremely limited noobness knowledge.  blush.gif i dun dare to say much except for the newbie stuff because i dun think i am at the right place yet to comment on others scape. hahaha~!

@red_dream

hmm, for a tank below RM100...i wish i can find em too. >_< rarely to find a co2 tank below RM100. the cheapest i can see is around RM180-200+. but bro, if you're looking for having a co2, maybe you could try this : http://www.petmountain.com/shop/standard/c...lant-system.jpg

it's more like a commercial DIY co2. hahha..~! i never tried it before but i will give it a try very soon with my new tank later (no time to setup atm). i saw this in Pet Family at Taman Megah KJ at around RM70+. but not really this brand. but it;s just the same mechanics. need to buy the refill pack monthly as they mentioned in their packaging.

The CO2 you mentioned is not worth the price. You can DIY yourself with less than RM10 bucks and refill for each time not more than RM3 though.

Not a must to have soil, you can use sand but the sand need to be either holland or other type that doesn't contain any material that will raise PH.

Some plants need to tie on wood, stone, etc, some need to plant in the substrate. Some can survive without co2 but of course grow slow and not so nice with co2 environment.

You need to cycle the tank with good bacteria inside first before you can put any fish or shrimp inside. Never heard of strawberry snail before, some snail will act as algae eater, some will eat anything including plants, beware of it.

The water too hot will kill the yeast and your co2 finish faster.

My method is, use boiled water to mix all the sugar then add cold water together to the bottle, put some yeast inside, wait for around 15 minutes, bubbles start coming out.

Change your air stone to those specially made for CO2 one, use diffuser, use reactor, use pump head. A lot of way to dissolve the co2, depends on which one you prefer.

last week end i go back home and have a makeover of my nano tank.

Remove the valve controller, gas might leak out from there. You need a needle valve like in the regulator to ensure no leaking, this kind of plastic sure leak one. I used the same design diffuser but longer size type, diy co2 is not an issue but troublesome, end up I get a solenoid.

plants all growing very well... minor algae build up but no worries, purposely trigger it to feed my otos.... lolz...

i added some cheap ghost shrimp to test water.... so far so good... no one jumped out from the tank... i guess few days later only go hunt for nice shrimps, after another water change soon... is it ok to mix ghost shrimps n amano shrimps together??... ghost shrimp not pretty at all... sad.gif
ADA bacterball seems smaller abit compare to dat one....
*
Be careful for the ghost shrimp, they might cut your plants or hunt your fish inside the tank.

what is solenoid look like?
and how much its cost?

that valve controller i didn't use liao...cos i dint put the bubble counter liao
*
Google regulator solenoid, it is fix to a co2 tank, it will turn on automatically when lights on, and off while lights off, save co2. Price around 250-280 exclude the tank.

Very low grade also need around rm10 each. Look for breeder and see if they willing to sell you cheap but better to make a success on RCS before you get CRS.

Dont' know why, to me the more whiter the CRS is, the more ugly it looks like.
