one question to ask sifu sifu here...

if my aquarium doesnt have filter, i only have air pump..

is tat okay??

as i'm a beginner, i thinking of trying the bottle CO2 treatment...the one that directly plug from the bottle and straightaway to the diffuser...

is tat advisable to try tat?

nah..i havnt set up yet the planted tank...wanted to.....just tat now i have a small tank with air pump inside...with few small fishes....so wanted to convert to plant tank....thinking can save the filter money ..use air pump instead...lol

now i know....i'll buy a filter then ....but now CNY...so not going to do anything yet....later after CNY i'll only setup up the tank...tat time i'll share my tank picture to let all the sifu here for comment

hey guys...

i tried step by step...currently my tank doesnt have CO2 and the soil...i bought sand only...but i've bought 3 plants.....i dun know the 2 plants but another one is java moss...the shop lady told me tat java moss cant grow without CO2...i dunnu whether is true or not..

because of budget constraint...tat's why no soil and CO2....

But i tied all 3 plants on a wood i bought....can the plant grow??

i have 2 cherry shrimps and one snail (the lady said is strawberry snail)but i tried to find in the net..i couldnt find.....will take a photo of my snail for u guys to help me to identify....and the tank too..my tank is 18" x 8" x 8"

another question..the lady said i need to have bacteria to make the tank clean....can sifu sifu here explain to me??

currently i have blue tetra, black tetra, blue eyes tetra and another 2 orange color fish...forgot the name..

oh my...i think it's late for me to cycle my tank for one week already....because i have fishes and snail around d....

i didn know need to use certain sand....i went to the shop i ask the uncle i wan to plant tree sand...he showed me..which type..i just buy only...1 kg for rm2....i guess wrong sand d eh?

can i buy the bacteria from the fish shop and normally how much eh??

btw..i read from internet...my aquarium has only 0.7 gallon of water....2926cm cube of water only and my light is 13W....it should be consider a high light tank...is it correct?? coz my tank is 18" x 8" x 8" only...small tank

okay...i cannot tahan and i went to buy yeast, baking soda and sugar right after my work..

and here are my DIY Yeast CO2...

please give comment...i'm eager to see bubbles to come out from the airstone..but i guess i need to wait around 1 hour??

i used 500g of sugar...used my mum's measure cup to measure...it's around 2 and 1/4 cup of sugar..plus 1/2 teaspoon of yeast and baking soda...

as of warm water...i went to my bath room..on the heater to max....and i collect the water..it quite warm tho...is tat okay???

i just shake it upside down to mixture the ingredient and i notice there is a layer of unmixed sugar at the bottom of the bottle...

so sifu sifu sekalian....it my way to DIY correct??

edited: It's working...bubbles are coming out!!! i'm so happy.....but airstone creates bigger bubbles....those bubbles didnt manage to break before reaching the surface...so sifu sifu sekalian...will CO2 still able to dissolve inside the water??

yea..from wat i read from the net...it is best to break inside the water..not at the surface..and i've read tat airstone is consider low-efficient in dissolving into water....

i will buy the diffuser soon..now tahan with airstone 1st....anyhow..the CO2 setup is cheap..so waste the CO2 also tak sakit hati la..

haha....i dun have any diffuser with me right now so use airstone to tahan 1st..

hey guys......

i have 2 questions to ask

1. today after work came back i saw little bubble coming out from the DIY CO2..so i opened the cap and i shake it..by covering the bottle opening with my palm and it came out alot of bubbles.....it's like u shake a bottle of coca cola and bubbles all came out...will my yeast followed those bubbles out??do i need to add yeast??

2. i tied my java moss with only one nylon string and it's at the center...so now both sides are floating....do i need to tie the both side as well or leave it there?? can those both side grow??

3. now i'm using DIY CO2 and the bubbles keep on coming out....so this weekend i'm going to buy a diffuser to replace the temporary airstone...but i read u guys normally set the bubbles to 2bps or 1bps....can DIY CO2 done tat?? i wonder if control like this the bottle can letup or not because of the gas tak sempat come out?? let say if no nid use teh counter and just let it come out like this...i wonder can poison the water or not coz the bubbles is 24/7 coming out and i photoperiod from 7pm to 7am only..(the time i back from work-sleep-work)...

hey..wanna to ask..if i buy a normal thermometer tat doctor use to check our body temperature then put it in my aquarium..it is advisable? or there are some other type of thermometer? i wan the analogue mercury type..dowan the digital type.....not nice!

ouh..good good...tmr i'll be going to the fish shop near new world, penang......1st time going there and going to see whether got alot of variety or not....and also...compare the pricing with the LFS near my house..coz LFS near my house will be the one i'll be visiting more often than there :D

oh btw...u guys remember the "lalang-kind-of plant" ? one of the forumers meantioned before dun buy that plant because it is not a water plant and will die eventually??

after i introduce CO2 to my tank for one night, i saw that "lalang" actually producing bubbles on their leaves........so it's growing or not growing??

those leaves are slowly turning yellow tho...

wat's the verdict sifu sekalian?? if nto growing..i'm going to take out and throw and replace it with java moss...coz currently the "lalang" plant is tied to the DW with the hanging Java moss of mine.....

oh...heavy roots mean the roots are thick?? coz the lalang look plant punya roots are thick...
