When will be this scooter launched in Malaysia ? Thought of getting it to replace my Ego LC...

Specs:-
A 155cc Yamaha Blue Core liquid-cooled engine will do the duties for the NVX. This single cylinder petrol unit is capable of delivering 14.8 Bhp at 8,000rpm and a peak torque of 14.4 Nm at 6,000rpm.

The feature set will include-

14-inch rims25-litre under seat storage compartment ABS as standard.
Twin eye LED headlights and LED tail and brake lights.
Smart key systemdigital Instrument cluster with 5.8 inch LCD display

Using the same liquid-cooled, SOHC four-valve single with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) as the NMax,
the engine is rated at 14.8 hp at 8,000 rpm and torque is claimed at 14.4 Nm at 6,000 rpm.
Driving a CVT gearbox, the NVX features bulkier styling than the NMax, notably in the fairing.

I think HLY is waiting for the correct timing. Not to say that they "don't care" at all. biggrin.gif
Anyway, some of the media already received the NVX catalogue and they are aware of this scooter's launching date. brows.gif

Yep. Not surprising because the N-MAx already $8K++. sweat.gif moneyflies.gif

Also, at the moment, HYL haven't revealed what specs they are going to sell. hmm.gif
Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam are all having 3 different specs.

+1.

If you are thinking to travel long distance (e.g.: Thailand), also no need to bring a 5 liter fuel tank.
There are lots of petrol station along the way. thumbsup.gif

Yah... most Yamaha's scooter fuel tank is on small side. Short distance travel only. Have to refuel more frequent. bangwall.gif

That's the main concern. Have to properly planned for long journey. Where to refuel, where to rest...

One more annoying issue - not enough fuel for the journey. Quarter tank, but the journey on highway with barely enough for the next fuel station rclxub.gif Happen to my puny little fuel tank (3.8L) Ego LC. bangwall.gif

The Rm10,500 is the selling price including gst. How much is the estimated OTR price?

Noted that Malaysian nvx does not come with 'tank' like overseas unit. Instead they came with reflectors.

I used it last year. Passed it to my brother. He had been riding it to work on daily basis from Ampang to Glenmarie, Shah Alam. So far zero issue. Less frequent refueling than his old EGO S. thumbup.gif

NVX looks thumbup.gif but with small fuel tank (4.xx++ litre) sweat.gif Big engine + small fuel tank = frequent refuelling. If the fuel consumption similar to PCX, then it can go up to 200km only. sweat.gif

No, I abandon the plan. 2 reasons.

1. Pass my PCX to my brother. He need a bike with large fuel tank for work (daily commute Ampang - Shah Alam). He's tired of daily refuelling his Ego S. whistling.gif

2. The components (3 items) becoming too expensive - closed to RM1k++ when I ask with Honda center in Golok Thailand. 10% of bike price just for the keyless system. Too expensive. Last year the price approximately RM600++ only. Thanks to our weak currency + price increase in Thailand. rclxub.gif

3. 2 months ago, I did enquire again (with high hope the price is okay), the Honda people in Thailand said, 2017 PCX version in Malaysia might not be socket compatible anymore with Smart Key (v3.2 or something) components in Thailand. They said slight different with wiring harness. Not that sure if it's true or not. I've look at wiring harness part number - still the same. rclxub.gif Sorry can't be sure about this. Too many PCX version. rclxub.gif sweat.gif

I'm sad too. cry.gif I was hoping that I can retrofit the keyless system last year. Keep dragging until it's not viable (financially) to do it. Now it might not be viable electronically too. cry.gif cry.gif

Went to Maju Motor Racing, Shah Alam today. Guess what, the nvx are already on display. Overall, I would say it's a great sharplooking bike. Here are the picture side by side with yz15r and nmax. On the road cash price was rm11k.

Yes correct. 1 remote and 2 spare metal keys.
If you lose your original remote, you can change up to maximum 4 (or 5?) times to a new remote with the same code.
After that, you cannot use back the original code for that remote and need to go back to HLY for a totally new code.

Anyhow, if you misplace your remote, you can activate the emergency activation by keying in your code at the instrument panel.

Your scooter? 150-170km every full tank - not that far can go. Frequent refuelling. That's what stops me from getting it. bangwall.gif Would be slightly better than my current Ego LC FI. Max can go about 140km every full tank (3.8L).

Need to get back my PCX from my brother... sweat.gif PCX can go 300-380km every full tank. If you ride like old man, slow & steady, can squeeze to 400km. thumbup.gif

Yeah. I'm the only person from the media who bought it thus far. Others only reviewed. Writing my own review on Autofreaks soon.

150km is because I went full throttle on the last two bars last night.

Don't let it stop you. That small tank is just like any other cubs out there. To be able to achieve 150 kilos on a tank is good enough...

I think patience managed to only achieve 150kms is because as he said he went full throttle. I think if he did not he would have achieved better mileage, about 170 probably.

You are correct. thumbsup.gif
The 1st fuel bar will drop at around 35km followed by the 2nd bar at 55km. This was when I was riding on the highway at 90km/h.
I was doing the Ulu Yam > Awana > Genting > Karak > MRR2 > DUKE route last Saturday.
At my last 6th bar of fuel, the meter showed 169km of travel. Not yet reserve. icon_rolleyes.gif

Just to share further, even though the NVX engine is sharing the same powerplant as the NMax engine, it has a slightly different head (exhaust port).
Which is why the NMax aftermarket exhausts isn't a direct "plug and play" solution for NVX. cry.gif

Same with the rear shock absorbers too. It looks the same but actually it has different lengths. ohmy.gif

Yes. I fetch her to work. At low speed (below 20) I find it a bit hard to navigate, especially when filtering. But not finding it too soft. Comfortable, not too hard.

In town with heavy traffic or at traffic lights with long waiting times, the auto stop-start mechanism only triggers after 30 seconds or so and is ‘permanently’ active thereafter; unless the stop-start is switched off and on again, the mechanism will need to be triggered again by coming to a halt for 30 seconds (without the need to turn off the engine).

IIRC, the NVX need to reach around 40km/h to activate this function if you switch it on the fly (while moving). Then you can see the Start Stop light blinking in the instrument cluster. hmm.gif

Can ah but I don't want to switch it off. Better to leave it on.

Bolded: do you mean switch off then on back?

I've tested riding at 60kmh++, stop-start indicator is lit (not blinking). flipped to Off, then on again, light comes back on. Should be off (on my first attempt doing it previously), not sure why now it remains to be on.

Anyway, petty matter, kalau nak off just flip the switch je. LOL.

What I meant was if you start your bike with the Start Stop button in OFF mode, then while riding (coasting to a stop) you encounter a traffic junction where you expect to be waiting for quite a while, you can engage the Start Stop button to ON mode while riding (coasting to a stop) and it will function. tongue.gif
As opposed to starting your bike with the Start Stop button in OFF mode and riding below 10km/h. The Start Stop mode won't activate. confused.gif ohmy.gif hmm.gif

XMAX thumbup.gif - highly unlikely for 300cc, but if they bring in 250cc one, then hnnnggg thumbup.gif . Need B full to legally ride it.

Eh ya B1 license has been 'abolished'. What happened to those who had it ah? Auto upgrade to B full? I didn't follow this news wei. Suddenly thought of it...

Anyway, if Xmax comes in it might not be selling well. Look at J300. Low demand. For its looks yes la nice but 300cc small upgrade je. Not worth.

J300 similar fate as Z300. Need B full to legally ride it. Not many have B Full. sweat.gif

If HLY bring in XMAX 250, the that's different league. Any B2 can ride it legally. thumbup.gif Wider market audience due to our licencing scheme. whistling.gif

IIRC, if battery is weak, the Start Stop function will auto disable. blink.gif ohmy.gif
And yes, Start Stop function also drains the battery which is why in the instrument cluster Yamaha included the battery voltage. sweat.gif biggrin.gif

Owner manual stated transmission oil spec:
1. 10w30 or
2. 85W GL-3 (if use GL-4 or 5 can?)

Which 1 better? And should use Mineral or synthetic?

If on PCX, no significant battery degradation with this stop start feature. My PCX always utilise this feature. 2++ years already. The battery still strong. thumbup.gif

Maybe the starting mechanism is good. Not consuming much battery power. Frequent starts doesn't cause any significant degradation. Finger crossed thumbup.gif

At the moment, since the NVX is still new in the MY market, we won't know if the Yamaha Start Stop is as good as Honda PCX or not. hmm.gif
But I would assume that Yamaha would have done their due diligence and made a similar system like Honda's ISS. nod.gif

I'm not surprised if HLY will just release the new Movistar replica during the MY MotoGP on 27 October instead of the Yamaha Racing Blue.
This also happened in 2015 when HLY launched the Y15ZR.
Although the brochure showed all 3 colours are available, only the red/black and the black/black colour were sold in dealer's shops but the blue/silver colour was delayed until HLY launched the Movistar Y15ZR during the MY MotoGP.

1. Would be better to measure mileage in term of fuel / petrol quantity (km/L or L/100km etc). Not the price. Price change on weekly basis.
2. Drum brake should not be an issue as your primary brake is front disc brake.

Not to be loyar burok but the terrain you will be travelling on also makes a difference. hmm.gif
For example;
If you are riding in hilly areas while maintaining 100km/h, for sure will consume more fuel compared to riding 100km/h on flat roads. nod.gif

GT Max or Maju Motor or DIY (not that difficult). CVT is nearly maintenance free. Just do all cleaning when you change the belting sets.

my bike shop told me that supplier requires him to fulfill a certain MOQ of other yamaha models then only can allocate 1 unit of the NVX for him

He said to me with a straight face that if i wasnt a long time customer, he wouldnt even bother with NVX booking for now wacko.gif

Yes correct.
Unfortunately, all manufacturers do this kind of "package". bangwall.gif
If the shop wants the "hot" model, the shop must also take the sejuk models as well. doh.gif

Yamaha 135 LC
Yamaha Y15ZR
These 2 models were (is) hot cakes and the cubhai shop owner also said the same thing as your shop.
Want hot model, must take with "cold" models too.

If you rajin go to FB, search for the NVX owner's group and there are sometimes advertisements from shops that have ready stock.

Or you could try to go outside Klang Valley to find ready stock.
My colleague bought his NVX from his hometown, Muar. laugh.gif

I've been patronising this bike shop for more than 10 years, would be weird if I purchase from another shop unless it's much cheaper or smthg laugh.gif

Plus I tendered n won the bid for my num plate thru his shop too, without paying a cent upfront so I think it's only fair he gets my business haha

I did ask around a few more shops in pg, all also said 3 - 4 months at least but no guarantee at all

Seems that they rework the rebound compression... to lessen the Jarring effect when hit speedbumps or potholes.. by a progressive rebound spring (looks like)

There was already a recall campaign in Vietnam where Yamaha changed the whole soft shock absorber to this newer version. sweat.gif
The new spring is more gemuk compared to the previous version.
You can refer to Post #89 in this thread.
But honestly, majority of the NVX owners will upgrade to aftermarket Ohlins (ori and/or copy), YSS or Gazi or whatever else brand. brows.gif

Yup. Betul.
Masa aku pakai RCB monoshock (Y15ZR), standard setting keluar kotak mmg keras. icon_question.gif
At first pasang dulu then test ride 1 minggu. Really keras.
Then bukak coverset, ukur monoshock pastu longgar spring preload another 10mm.
Klu still keras, longgar lg smpi ko rasa lembut.
After that it was lembut la. thumbsup.gif

It's better if you go back to the shop you bought your NVX from.
If anything goes wrong or warranty, then the shop will tanggung.
If you hantar to other shops, if anything happen, susah nak claim nnt. icon_question.gif

Or alternatively, you can go to any authorised Yamaha dealers to do your NVX service. thumbsup.gif

I'm guessing only.
If we were to buy the original tank then send for welding and then respray, the costs would likely be similar too. hmm.gif

How's the maintenance cost for NVX so far?

EO how many litres?
Service every 3k km or 5k km?
CVT service every 5k km?
Belt how much?

Any issues so far?

I just sold my Kymco Xciting 400 due to super expensive spare parts and coil problems.
Looking for a small scooter for 60km ride to and from work everyday.

If you use NVX, be prepared to refuel daily... The fuel tank is too small for 100km daily journey. Other than that, it's a good scooter. thumbup.gif

Thanks bro.. Yeah it seems so. As other forumer pointed, some offer tanks upgrade but I prefer keeping these untouched. The tank is quite a turnoff though others are great. NMAX then it is.. XMAX looks like almost tripled NMAX price.

Just sharing... Yamaha scooter failed me with their small fuel tank. I've sold my Ego LC Fi last year because of this. Excellent nimble small scooter to run errands, but too frequent have to detour to petrol station vmad.gif for a sip of fuel.

well to be fair, most of the small scooter or even kapcai do hv small tank. laugh.gif laugh.gif , Y15 @ RS150 also same.
those are city ride. so their tank mostly can go up to 100-150km.

nmax is in category of maxi scooter, so normally will have larger tank. but since its compact maxi, i think thats why the tank just 6.6L. enough for 200-250KM.
its a maxi for city since its nimble enough for city ride. even its tagline is "city commuter"

while nvx is same category of those underbone scooter.

cant blame them since that is their category bro.
btw, i also wish small scooter@ kapchai have bigger fuel tank. laugh.gif

while nvx is same category of those underbone scooter.

cant blame them since that is their category bro.
btw, i also wish small scooter@ kapchai have bigger fuel tank.  laugh.gif
just damm lazy to stop for petrol station.
*
My PCX comes with 8L fuel tank. It's physically no bigger that NMAX /NVX. 150cc range too. Full tank PCX can go up to 400km (50-52km/L) thumbup.gif Serves me well since 2015. Can 'cilok' like small kapchai too... whistling.gif

I'm too lazy to stop for RM4 petrol too. whistling.gif

FYI - I have PCX & Ego LC Fi (sold last Nov) sweat.gif

Just upgraded my nvx front calipers to dual piston racing boy..cant get the setting right as the lever feels too soft no matter how long i bled the fluids in the system. In the end decided to use back the ori calipers. Guess the master cylinder need to be upgraded too when using dual piston or higher calipers.

Your local bike shop needs to take care when bleeding ABS especially when there might be potential air bubbles in the modulator. Not all shops are knowledgeable. sweat.gif

By the way, when you changed your brake calipers, did you also upgrade your brake hose?

Nope. Standard hose. I changed back to the ori ones myself. Took me bloody half an hour of continuous bleed & pump to get back the feel.

Senpai, I have just recently bought one and I am loving it.

I saw in FB group, so many people changed their absorber. I am planning to do the same. Any recommendations for budget +- rm500?

My friend recommended kozi 3, and it is around 350++.

My advice; save your money and buy a YSS shock absorber. nod.gif
I found an online seller selling around your budget:
YSS Performance Suspension Yamaha NVX

If you can save more, then also upgrade your NVX front fork with this:

If cannot wait for NVX, Honda Vario seems like a good choice. Missing is only front single channel ABS but replaced with CBS.

Is not the other Govt Policy is better than MY but .. actually more towards economic of scale... they can sell cheaper due to the bigger market + a purely CKD build bike ..

While in MY.. is the Govt policy + half assed CKD assembly + profit taking by the importer/assembler + niche market of motorcycle that causes the price soared...

I'm using the 7 litres fuel tank.
Very worth it when you are travelling long distance because you don't have to refuel often.
OEM fuel tank around 140km you need to find petrol station.
RON97 is RM15 full.
Range is around 220km (last bar before blinking).

Oh i did text nasty mel on ig. But the price of the fuel tank almost the same here. Thats why thinking just to get it here. Saw on fb Rm480. How much is your 7liter? How much fir installation?

Did u change the yss spring? Some say better change whole set of fork. Does the yss spring is too high? Scared it will caused leaks if its too long.

I went to aerox wangsamaju, they say change brake disc and caliper also didnt change much, unless i bypass the abs. My vespa has abs and it breaks much better.

What other mod have u done bro? Also thinking to go for cvt and clutch hehe.

My 7 litres was around $400++ during that time. It's made from normal steel and not the fancy aluminium type.
Looks like the picture below.
user posted image

Yes, I upgraded the YSS front fork kit. I think it's sufficient for my normal ride. The internal spring is the same length with the OEM spring to fit into the standard RWU forks.

I'm not sure why you are scared that it will cause leaks as the fork cap has a heavy-duty o-ring and sealed with with a cap that has Soft -> Hard setting adjustments.
You can see the fork cap with the anodised red suspension setting in the picture below.
user posted image

I'm not sure about changing to aftermarket front forks as I have not done this kind of mod.
Perhaps better you join the FB for the NVX Owner's Group and ask. hmm.gif

Your NVX is still new so need time to do breaking in the brakes too. So perhaps you can do this first then if not happy, upgrade the brake hose and brake pads.
If still not happy, then calipers and rotors.
As for bypassing the ABS, that's up to you. I wouldn't want to do this. shakehead.gif

I have no other mods. Only suspension (YSS rear shocks and YSS front fork kit), air filter and 7 litres fuel tank only.
But I saw some NVX owners who have done the variator and clutch upgrade.

My 7 litres was around $400++ during that time. It's made from normal steel and not the fancy aluminium type.
Looks like the picture below.

Thanks bro for your explaination.

How much u change the fork kit for front and back? Rear suspension in hard setting now? Is it harder than standard nvx absorber with gas chamber? 🤔 pls share the location as well.yesterday i service the front fork as recommended by other rider. The mechanic keep saying not gonna change anything and give faces. I keep want to do the servicing, and it feels a lot better no more hentak sound from front fork.

And after read on the fb, shared commennt as well, its adviseable to change the spring only, saw a fake ohlins fork breaks apart from the bike. Scary. And they say, theres no ohlins fork, only spring available.

After run in,at 180km now, the brakes improve a bit. Dont think need to upgrade anytime soon.

Yes air filter is in my list as well, u using hurricane brand? How much u pay for it? Planning to go to RFRS for 300km service as nvx doesnt have oil filter. Wanna check out their stage 1 mods as well hehe

YSS rear suspension was around $600++.
Looks something like this.
user posted image
For sure it's better compared to stock standard due to the thicker coil spring and the gas.
Not "harder" but nicer damping. Absorbs the uneven roads surfaces nicely.
Only adjustable for spring preload and nothing else (no compression, no rebound) but it's good enough for my usage. nod.gif

It's a good idea to change / service the front fork. If you managed to see the standard fork oil, it looks very watery. puke.gif grumble.gif

AFAIK, there is no Ohlins USD front forks for NVX Aerox. hmm.gif
Only rear shock absorbers and front fork spring kit.

Hi Everybody. I'm new to the forum and very interested in the awesome Yamaha NVX 155, of which i don't know much about, as its not available in the country where i live.
I have some questions that hopefully can be answered.

First some facts...
As far as i know, the NVX is available in the following countries only....

Malaysia (NVX)
Thailand (Aerox)
Indonesia (Aerox)
Vietnam (NVX)
Philippines (Aerox)

The NVX 155 , NMAX , & YZF-R15, all share the same engine, yet power figures differ....

NVX 155
HP 11kw @ 8000rpm
Torque 13.8nm @ 6250

NMAX
HP 11.1kw @ 8000rpm
Torque 14.4nm @ 6000rpm

YZF-R15
HP 14.2kw @ 10000rpm
Torque 14.7nm @ 8500rpm

Questions....

1. Why did Yamaha choose to call it the NVX in Malaysia & Vietnam, and not call it the Aerox like the other countries? (It seems to me, that Aerox would have been better, as its a legendary name for Yamaha, and suits this bike more in my opinion, even for marketing purposes)

2. Why would Yamaha not tune the NVX up to at least the power figures of the NMAX or even up to the YZF-R15?
I understand the NVX is lighter then the NMAX, so its power to weight ratio is superior, meaning its actually faster then the NMAX, but why did they choose to not tune it to its maximum anyway, and make it as fast as possible?

3. In what way technically, do the engines differ, in order to achieve these different levels of power output?

I look forward to some insight and answers to my questions, to help relieve my curiosity. Much appreciated, and thanks in advance.

Found the answer to question 1. "NVX" was chosen over "Aerox", due to possible copyright issue of "Aerox" name in Malaysia and Vietnam.

Still would like some insight into questions 2 & 3.

Thanks, yes i gathered all the ways to make more power from the same engine, but lets just take Aerox 155 vs Nmax for example.....
1. Do you know precisely which of these components around the engine of the Nmax, that differs from the Aerox in order to give it that slightly more torque? (Perhaps only a Yamaha Technician could answer, but its worth a try)
2. And why would Yamaha choose not do this to the Aerox, to maximise the its potential?

NVX@Aerox and Nmax has same engine, but diff tuning and power output, due some differences.
- like the CVT is not 100% same as nmax. the belt, variator etc size also difference.
- weight difference. nvx more lighter than nmax
- nmax built mostly for city and touring use, due to bigger tank, comfortable seating position, where nvx suitable for city use due to sporty seating position and small tank like kapchai.

R15 is bit diff due to its manual transmission, the engine characteristic will be diff.
the engine cooling also much difff on R15 than nvx/nmax since the radiator is on right side, where R15 radioator at on front engine.

only yamaha knows the correct answer to your Qs.

but since u said they have the same engine, u can compare the part numbers, the parts tht can influence the output of engine.

like valves, cams, injectors, intake, head, etc..

That would make for an interesting exercise, comparing part numbers. I remember running a few engine part comparisons between Aerox & Nmax, but from what i checked, they ended up being the same.
I can imagine the R15 would throw up quite a few different parts though, and i may try and get around to comparing them....be interesting.

Wouldn't it be nice if Yamaha brought out a special super hot version of the Aerox, with R15 power & torque, and simply called it Yamaha Aerox R155 nod.gif

Have a listen to how good this 155 engine can sound onboard a standard R15 V3....

Compared & found the following...

Aerox vs r15 engine part numbers

Valves (intake & Exhaust) - (Same)
Camshaft Assey - (Same)
Injector Assey - (Same)
Throttle body - (Same)
Decompression Assey - (Same)
Head - (Same)
Piston Assy - (Same)
Crankshaft Assy - (Same)

All above checked out to be the same part numbers. (Yet we know compression ratio, exhaust, ECU Mapping and gears are different, so perhaps the extra power % torque achieved, just centres around these)

I think the ECU tune mapping is the reason for the slight torque difference between the Aerox vs Nmax, as all else, including transmission, appear to use the same parts.

the spec - power , torque- given by manufacturer is measured @ the crank.
so transmission is not involved.

Yes i wasn't suggesting where the power figures are taken from, only going through several parts to check on any differences, as i wanted to see if they also changed the anything around the transmission to suit the power differences.

But here's a question..... would the transmission belt be in exactly the same position on the variator for each bike at peak torque? (Rollers are the same too...13g)

NVX 155
HP 11kw @ 8000rpm
Torque 13.8nm @ 6250

NMAX
HP 11.1kw @ 8000rpm
Torque 14.4nm @ 6000rpm

Anyone can recommend a good deal for cash OTR for NVX in Klang Valley. The best i could get is 12k (from bike shop). Some going for 11.7k(3rd party dudes). Anywhere in Klang Valley would do. Thanx.

hi peeps,

i'm thinking of getting nvx to commute to work (70km to and fro, 40% traffic jam 60% highway). currently using vespa.

i'm contemplating on getting nvx or xmax, cos xmax seems to tick all the boxes except for the price of the bike which is a lot pricier compared to nvx and the size makes it a hassle in the jam.

appreciate comments from you guys. bare in mind that i will be using the bike for a long period (7 years at least) and i am not the type that change bike frequently.

my only concern on nvx is the reliability, as i saw a lot of fb comments on the issues faced by the owners (digital panel, fork, bearing etc.)

why not nmax?
same engine as nvx
price more cheaper.
bigger fuel tank
comfortable seating position.

digital panel u can change
fork n bearing u can change.
the most important things is the spare parts availability and easy to repair.
if u want to use it that long

xmax is good for long distance, but with higher price n maintenance

Can you elaborate on the digital panel, fork & bearing problems you have seen? I don't recall seeing these, and don't want to read the entire thread again.
My impression of the NVX's reliability from reading up on it, is thats its been super reliable, as Yamaha's usually are.

Basic on your criteria of what type of bike you need, i would think the NVX is the one to go for, plus its by far the best looking sports scooter in the world, in my humble opinion.

some of my friends are having those problem. digital panel is too sensitive, the digits are messed up (fading etc) due to park under the sun. in the fb group, some reported having the same issue eventhough they park indoor.

fork is too soft. this is minor issue that can be solved, but there are some in the group reported that their fork leaked at less than 10k mileage.

there's also reported cases on random vibration and humming (unknown reason) and broken bearing in less than 30k mileage.

these are all minor issues that can be solved, but for a bike of that price, i dont expect to have that kind of problems.

in my circle or friends, one is having issue with the digital panel, the other one with the fork. probably they received a lemon unit, idk.

glad to hear that yours have no issues. i guess i'll just gamble and hope for the best. trying my best not to spend on the xmax (servicing cost is almost the same, but monthly payment is a lot higher), but the poison after trying xmax is really effective lol.

servicing cost for xmax of cos higher than nvx/nmax.
the belt cost almost triple
the engine oil is more, and use oil filter.

i would say u need to spend double price than nvx/nmax for the maintenance.

it is more expensive but not by far. nvx belt is around rm70, xmax is rm120.

normal service is slightly more per service, but the interval is different if we go by the manual book. so if we were to compare for a total of 15000km, difference is acceptable (still below rm100).

but anyway, both service is okay to me cos my current vespa maintenance is a lot crazier than nvx and xmax.

Even on NMAX I'm starting to feel this now lol. My commute being KL-Seremban is about 70km. Sadly XMAX is too big and heavy for me, so I may have to look for a bike next.

thats why i ask you take xmax for safety
you need faster bike if use highway

Yeah. Maybe will upgrade in a year or two, but I'm quite disappointed that I can't physically handle the XMAX.

Hope that a scooter between the NMAX and XMAX size and displacement is launched by then.

I think Elegan does not have ABS, even though the original non-rebadged model does? The price is amazing, but I have sat on one and it felt even heavier than the XMAX. sad.gif

My problem is that I am suffering from a heart condition which limits my physical strength and stamina. Hence ideal for me would be something just a bit bigger than NMAX with around 200cc engine; enough for me to keep up with and overtake most cars. If not, will have to look at used 250+cc bikes with ABS and A&S clutch, as I can probably handle bikes with lighter clutch lever action.

Yeah, for me riding bike requires all senses for safety. Even the smallest disability can have big effects.

But still, feels better than driving car. laugh.gif

All of the above.. + final (secondary) gear ratio behind changed to aftermarket one, since its the one who limiting the top speed...

If not changes.. all the above changes Pulley Clutch ECU etc only make the bike pickup faster until you reach the speed limiter on the final (secondary) gear ratio....

but then.... its 155cc scooter, .. modified it .. shorten the engine lifespan...

Why people selling this scooter? not good?
I'm thinking to get 1 by end of this week
*
Based on what I read on the FB groups, it's mostly because they bought for stylo purposes or thought it was fast. Then hang out with friends who have Ysuku/Y15 and LC135 and realize it's no match for those things. NVX is just a NMAX with sportier ergonomics, ABS, and less 'jetski' look.

If you're thinking of buying, understand that the bike is not meant to be an actual super sport scoot like the TMAX. It's a nice looking commuter machine that will get you from point A to point B, and has the advantage of ABS for additional safety. If that's what you're looking for, go for it.

EDIT: There are also some issues with the digital dash spazzing out and the standard center-stand breaking. So if you're buying 2nd hand, watch out for these.

Keep in mind that many of the used NVX'S on Mudah are asking for NEW retail price and more in some cases....make what you will.
I think you will love the NVX, and it still is one of the fastest, if not the fastest stock standard automatic 155cc on the market anywhere, due to great power to weight ratio.

i agree....a stock standard NVX is GREAT straight out of the box, and all you need. Factory Yamaha know what they are doing, and do it very well, striking that perfect balance of performance and reliability.

Was watching the Thailand MotoGP time trials last night, and after Valentino Rossi's crash (He was O.K.), I saw him taken back to the pits by a Yamaha Aerox 155 MotoGP edition. Looked great, complete with replica livery graphics.

I remember the 2016 Sepang MotoGP unveiling of the NVX / AEROX GDR155 with Valentino Rossi....how appropriate this bike has been for this scene. I noticed they used the Petronas Yamaha Motogp livery on the NVX last year, for use in the Sepang Yamaha pit bikes....again, very appropriate for the Malaysian specific market, with Malaysia's own Hafizh Syahrin riding Petronas Yamaha.
What an awesome pit bike Yamaha has to use for their champion MotoGP riders, and show off to the world.
The others like Honda etc, have nothing special at all.
Yamaha was very smart creating this very special sports scooter for this segment, particularly since it mimics a sports super bike. Only the Gilera Runner and Derbi GP1 came close, and they don't make them anymore.
If Piaggio were smart (they own Aprilia, Gilera & Derbi), they would make a proper Aprilia SR150 to compare with the Yamaha Aerox 155. They have a SR150 made in India, but thats just a Piaggio Typhoon that is rebadged as Aprilia. Even Honda don't have a proper premium sports version of the PCX.
I'm surprised Yamaha has not started selling the Aerox 155 in Europe yet, as they would have the market all to themselves, for aspiring young sports scooter riders, who want the best sports 155cc in the world, and dream of being MotoGP riders.
I guess sooner or later, Yamaha will release it to Europe, after seeing how massively successful the Aerox has been going in the Asean markets. [SIZE=7][SIZE=7]

I understand the theory behind this view, electric will eventually be the future, but we are talking about the most advanced, most powerful, efficient and cleanest 155cc on the planet, and until the day Motogp goes electric, i think particularly, the Spanish & Italians would go crazy for this bike. Then they can also bring out an electric Aerox, or even hybrid versions later biggrin.gif

i jz checked yamaha eu site, they hv nmax 125, one aerox4 50cc probably for ladies...

nvx design maybe too cramp for angmoh.. or they prefer more practical design like nmax...

even land of scooters like taiwan, for yamaha up to 155cc , all are ' leg tru' designs, more practical.

Italy and Greece have both NMAX 125 & 155. And all other major euro country's i checked have the NMAX 125.
NMAX is a global model, and also sold here in Australia in top line form 155cc (Made in Indonesia)
Aerox 50cc has always been available in Europe for the young sports riders who can start from age 16 there. It has always gone up against the Aprilia SR50, Piaggio NRG Purejet, & Peugeot Speedfight.
This is another reason they are actually crying out for the Aerox 125 or 155, as it provides the next step up, and the ultimate sports scooter machine to own.
India too, has been crying out for it, and i believe it is about to be released there in the next few months.

On a side note, i test rode the NMAX 155, and found it to be more a cruiser machine with its sitting position, as apposed to the Aerox which is much more sports style riding position.
I also found something i did NOT like about the NMAX....I found it difficult to find the centre balance when going very slow crawling pace. It felt like it wanted to tip from one side or the other. IT was very strange, perhaps it was that low seat to higher handlebar arrangement that caused this issue i found with it, because i can't think of anything else.
Where as the Aerox and the Piaggio Liberty 150 have great low speed balance from my experience with them, and both have similar seat height to handlebar position.

Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed this. It took a while for me to get used to it on mine, but eventually I was able to make the bike tilt where I wanted it to at slow speeds and when stopping.

And thanks for confirming this NMAX issue for my headspace too....as i thought it was just my imagination, but it's something i'll never forget.
I'm surprised more is not made of this in any reviews i've seen on the NMAX vs Aerox.
There has been only one youtube video review where i remember the guy mentioned it, and also one written review too.

The NVX 155 uses 5W globes for the auxiliary park lights and 10W globes for the amber turn signals.
I'm thinking of swapping these out for LED's.
Does anyone know the correct LED type for these?

From what i gather.....
Auxiliary lights - T10 (12V) 6000K LED
Turn signal lights - ?

I would use the brand OSRAM, so if anyone can confirm if the auxiliary light type mentioned above is correct, and also provide the type i need for the (AMBER) turn signals, that will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

O.K I've successfully changed my auxiliary park lights to LED, and they are fantastic!!! The stock ones made a yellowish light, where as these LED are COOL WHITE and match the LED headlights now, plus they are a bit brighter and only use 1W.

I'm going to leave the stock turn signal bulbs as they are, because i believe you have to change the relay as well....and i'm not prepared to do that.

normally 125cc based bike is for European market. starting from 50cc, then 125cc, then can upgrade their licence further.

Honda did try to sell their 125cc scoot before with latest tech. Remember airblade? (start-stop feature was kinda premium back then) but did not sell well. Better off with 150cc based engine so that people can justify the price tag

Its interesting how they come up with different graphics to suit each different ASEAN market region tastes. Apparently, Yamaha researched this.
After viewing all Aerox/NVX markets....Indonesia,Thailand,Vietnam,Philippines & Malaysia, i personally think Malaysia and the Philippines offer the best looking graphics.
I also think the first generation graphics were the simplest and best too.

Here is a link to information regarding Yamaha's GDR155 research and development into colours and graphics to suit different markets. You can view a clay model of the GDR155 here too.

Looks like the Aerox and Nmax have a technological rival to match them now in the 2020 Piaggio Medley 125 & 155.

See this link...... https://transitmotorcycles.piaggiogroup.co....Medley-for-2020

Just on the engines alone, the 155 version has 12.1kw @8750rpm / 15nm @ 6500rpm
The 125 version has 11kw @9000rpm / 12nm @ 6500rpm.

They are a lot heavier though, so i think the Yamaha's would still win a drag race based on power to weight, but these Piaggio's are fully loaded with everything including ABS / Stop Start / LCD Dash etc etc. They are well engineered and high in quality too.

You can't beat the Aerox MotoGP bike styling, but if Aprilia did a scooter like the Aerox with the Piaggio 155 engine they have (Piaggio own Aprilia), then that really would be a competitor to the mighty Aerox.

This is why i love scooters , the underseat compartment & the good looking top box fits perfectly.

large helmet compartment with an amazing 36 litres of space, enough to hold two full-face helmets

Piaggio offers the classic 32-litre top box, which can accommodate a modular helmet or two Piaggio Style helmets, and the 37-litre top box that expands the load capacity to the maximum.

Has anyone installed a Malossi Multivar Variator on a stock NVX 155?

IF so, what are your findings? They come with a yellow contra spring and 9.5g rollers which are quite a few grams lighter then the stock ones (i think they are 14g), so it would be interesting to hear your thoughts on its performance vs stock variator.

Everything is the same spec, except for colour changes. Depending on where you buy, the average 2020 price should still be the same as 2019 prices too.

Also please remember that Malaysia only offer the absolute top of the range NVX/AEROX 155, with everything included, and i like that.

I'm loving my NVX/AEROX....thank you Yamaha for making the best sports scooter in the world!

*
saw benzina asked @ thai forum, oni got thai language one..

service manual is kinda sacred/secret 'thing' thats hard to get.

actually it is copyright protected.

only some kind hearted fler will leak it out.
most fler will just wana keep it to themselves.

all authorised service dealers will have access to service manuals, im sure of that.

those days they printed it out.
these days i think service staff can only access it online.

every bike frm all makes have detailed service manuals.

The new second generation 2021 Yamaha Aerox / NVX 155 has just been unveiled in Indonesia.

The original...

Interested to hear thoughts on the design changes. I personally think the first generation still looks better.
The new one looks a bit fussy in the front side fender, and the headlights look a bit too big. The X signature panel on the side is less pronounced as an X, and its lost the big V panel on the front too.
While i still think its a good looking bike, and it was wise to not try change it too much, i think the 1st generation is better looking, with a cleaner, bolder, more pure Yamaha design language, but new one is still nice.

The 2021 claim a very slight increase in power and torque, but the weight has gone up too....now 125kg.

Tech changes.....
Power - 1st Gen 11kw/8000rpm vs 2nd Gen 11.3kw/8000rpm
Torque - 1st Gen 13.8nm/6250rpm vs 2nd Gen 13.9nm/6500rpm
Compression Ratio - 1st Gen 10.5:1 vs 2nd Gen 11.6:1
Weight - 1st Gen 118kg vs 2nd Gen 125kg
Power to weight ratio - given the above information, the 1st Gen works out at a slight advantage.

Length - 1st Gen 1990mm vs 2nd Gen 1980mm (2nd Gen is 10mm shorter)
Width - 1st Gen 700mm vs 2nd Gen 700mm (Same)
Height - 1st Gen 1125mm vs 2nd Gen 1150mm (2nd Gen is 25mm higher). I prefer the lower handlebar height, giving a sportier riding position.
Wheelbase - 1st Gen 1350mm vs 2nd Gen 1350mm (Same)
Ground Clearance - 1st Gen 142mm vs 2nd Gen 143mm (Lets call it the same)
Tank - 1st Gen 4.6L vs 2nd Gen 5.5L (2nd Gen increase Tank capacity by .9L). This is a good thing.
Wheel and Tyre sizes and design are the same.

Does anyone know the brand & model of these side mirrors i've seen on a youtube video?

I have thoroughly searched the entire internet on images, but i cannot see them anywhere. There are a couple that look similar, but not as good as this one.

Definitely! nod.gif
But most of the 1st generation owners have upgraded their OEM tanks to after-markets one. whistling.gif

I've seen the following sizes advertised specific for Aerox.......6L / 8.2L / 9L. If you google "Aerox larger tank", and see images, this will show what is available and where to buy.

I must say, its great to see Yamaha was clever enough to continue the production and sale of the 1st generation Aerox along side the 2nd generation version, in there biggest markets. (Malaysia & Singapore remain exclusively with the just the 1st gen for the time being)
The 1st gen price bracket offers a cheaper entry point, and a pure Yamaha design language that many still prefer over the 2nd gen, and probably always will, since it's become rather iconic and timeless.
It would be interesting to see how the sales figures compare between 1st Gen and 2nd Gen.

Indonesia - 1st Gen / 2nd Gen
Thailand - 1st Gen / 2nd Gen
Vietnam - 1st Gen / 2nd Gen
Malaysia - 2nd Gen
Philippines - 2nd Gen
Singapore - 1st Gen (From Thailand Factory)

All have there own Yamaha factories except Singapore.
In summery, Yamaha have simply expanded the Aerox/NVX range, and i'm sure in my opinion, many will continue to choose the cheaper entry point and better looks of the 1st Gen, over the pricier 2nd Gen with slightly more tech and bigger tank....but its great they offer both just the same.

kapchai y15 market much bigger here than nvx.
hence they bring the y16( or y15 vva) here 1st rather than nvx 2nd gen.
but i believe new nvx currently being testing here after see the spyshot few days ago. so only time will tell when they going bring in the new model.

Yes i think its just a matter of time before they bring in the 2nd Gen. But it will be interesting to see if they offer both 1st Gen & 2nd Gen like the other bigger markets.

Update: Malaysia has just replaced the 1st Gen for the 2nd Gen. So the smaller Malaysian market, has just joined the Philippines, and only offer the 2nd generation version.

New nvx price good , but rear Tyre still using drum brakes. Very troublesome need to tighten the nut once in a while. ADV all disc brake.

Now considering NVX V2 ABS and Honda ADV 150.
Below i attached pro and cons for both motocycle,
I'm still in dilemma on choosing this both motocycle.
Look like 70% more towads ADV instead of NVX.

if sporty scot if the 1 u want, then its good choice.
ADV150 is suitable for touring rider who dont care much of the top speed and dont care much of the accessories.

Hello brother, how's the experience with your NVX so far?
Can give a short review on the driving experience?
Are you driving in the KL?
I wonder if the bike can be like kapchai to turn around in a heavy traffic jam especially in KL area during peak hours.
I"m actually planning to change from Dash 125 to NVX after getting advise from senpais.

It should be O.K. I've still got the original battery from when the bike was delivered brand new back in September 2019, and i have only covered 2400kms....i only use it sparingly, and there have been times without use for 2 months.
