Guys, I'm in dilemma. I want to upgrade my bike for my work ride 60km daily. Currently using honda kapchai.

Initially I was interested with maxi scooter such as J300/kymco kxct, not too big one like 400c maxi. For its convenience, I can pack up everything under the seat including rain suit. I also can keep my riding jacket safely at parking.

Elegan 250i almost strike the deal if only it has ABS equipped.

However J300/kymco is priced around RM30k new, similar with new CBR500R which has always have a spot in my heart - I used to ride CBR150R. After considering that I can just live with backpack daily, I think I will give it a go. But then I was thinking it won't help me with other errand such as going to gym, or playing futsal where I have to carry a gym bag as well.

Then my wife advise me go for CBR500X instead and add saddle bag for convenience. It is also more comfortable for daily ride. I'm fine with that but this like strike the middle ground for me. I want a cool looking bike. I want a convenient bike as well. And this adventure bike is average on both and I still don't get the best in looks for me, or the most convenient.

Any suggestion? Maybe I'll have to resort in putting top box on CBR500R  puke.gif .

have u seen youtube moto vlogger called "The Sighbored"?

He actually got a custom box on his ZX6R..and it is located on top of the pillion seat. well, it's a dummy pillion seat anyway. Much better looking than having extended rack..but side box is something else..get a proper one and your bike will look like a big touring Kawa GTR1400

wht the sighbored done is a very economical way to bolt base plate to an extra pillion seat, then put on a box,

this is useful for bikes with separate seats, and if u can buy cheap replacement seats from china.

many riders have been doing this for quite sometime, in msia ppl still kinda "havent seen it"

cos over here " looks " is more important than convenient..

bcos not many use a bike as single rider only, but with this mod, u can easily swap the seat with the ori one and done.

the only thing tht needs to pay attention is...

the pillion seat is not bolted on to the subframe, it is merely placed there and with a simple locking mechanism to hold it in place..

so u dont go carry heavy stuff and went to pek corner.. the seat might tercabut...

hepco becker have been making these " sportrack " for quite some time already for most bikes with separate seat

and of cos it is mahal la for RM... $$$$

i just dont like the looks of it. i rather use a backpack and carry it anywhere than to put a box on a sportsbike/superbike. Personally if i want box i'll get myself a touring bike.

its just me.

lazer

I use a backpack too... unless I have to wear a 2-piece business suit or a blazer, in which case I use a tailpack (cheaper than a box, zero mods).

Waa, the sighboard is rather interesting, albeit not as secure as normal topbox, but it should be fine.

The problem with backpack is I have to then carry around the riding gear anytime I'm at destination. Still not confident enough to use a cable lock for 600-800 priced riding jacket.

naza cruise 650 is heavier than vulcan s i think,

if u like hyusong bikes... u hv to be prepared if it breaks down...

still new - get ready to claim, spend time waiting for parts.. etc...

like cruiser type of bikes better get a used vulcan s, then lesser chance of problem

cheaper if used.. like 20k ~ oni...

cruiser depends on the jam...if it is tight then will be jammed as well...
people say every bike oso got problem... but they din learn math " kebarangkalian " at school ?

Thats the case .

All that hassle when a big waterproof bagpack can solve it cleanly.

Get something waterproof and large enough to fit your riding jacket, waterproof stuffs - and lots more space to spare.

One thing i really can't stand tho... is those motor waist bags, i duno why but you make yourself look like a 7year old manchild, it looks utterly rubbish on an adult.
I bought a taichi waist bag, i proceeded to throw it into the storeroom in <2 days.

Most of the service item can DIY. Just get the parts from parts dealer / stockist. thumbup.gif Try to get an appropriate workshop manual. thumbup.gif
